Looks good. I appreciate the super realistic graphics. :smile_cat: Actually, the graphics were consistent and established a good aesthetic - they aren't bad at all.
I think the mechanics were fairly good too. Movement felt a little floaty, but it wasn't too bad.
Because the buckets spawned pretty fast for me, I lost focus on protecting the customers and went into survival mode, just trying to catch any bucket that ran by. I would probably have benefited from a slower spawn rate, but I suspect that varies widely based on player skill (my skill is very low in this case).
I enjoyed the way you integrated the theme into this game and I found the story of the game to be fun. The music helped establish a good mood and the frantic paint wrangling kept me engaged. Thanks for sharing!
@thepelranthean Thank you very much for the kind words  It does reflect really well what time was available . And the was a lot of things I would have liked to worked on quite a bit more .... but that's really how it goes.
Couple of things... I didn't really get to test that much and hence the balancing is likely very poor as you mention. There a no animations. The theme could have benefitted really well from a couple of hours extra work.
Thank you again very much for playing .. I will test yours as well.
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
This is a pretty cute game! The presentation is nice and the audio is quirky, well done
@congusbongus Thank you very much for playing  It's not the one I'm proudest of but it's relatively "stable" and I finished on time... so maybe next year
Looks like the binding of isaac...
@chillertyp Actually didn't even see that... but I do get your point... although in any case it would be a VEEEEERY early prototype

The art style is cute, and I like the idea behind the game. As a previous commenter said, it could definitely use a little balancing because the buckets quickly got out of hand for me (not helped by me forgetting there was a sprint button) - but it's a very fine line to walk to keep it feeling hectic but manageable. Nevertheless, a good effort for the time available! I did find a small bug, on the game over screen where it's (I assume) meant to display how long you lasted, I instead just had an unfilled time format (HH:MM:SS) - screenshot attached.

@glenugie I actually get to check that one (HHMMSS) and you are absolutely correct  Wonder if I'm allowed to fix that... it's a bug although a minor one I would say  Thank you very for playing
Fun game, I appreciate the unique use of the prompt!
An interesting take on the theme. I liked the simple graphics and how your character kinda of just stacks the paint buckets on themselves. The 'blurp' sound effects made by the paint buckets were cute as well.
In terms of improvements, I noticed there were system messages popping up but they were way smaller than the other UI text. It looked like they they were referring to paint buckets breaking into the customer area? A scoring system would also have been nice. I noticed there was a timer at the end of the game but it seemed to be a placeholder.

Very Interesting game. It took me a while to realise that you could get a new shirt at the shirt place. a tutorial type thing in game would have been helpful.
Cool game! As @thepelranthean mentioned, it gets a little too frantic quite quickly and loses some of its own structure in the process. Solid concept in general with the zoning though, could see this being expanded upon! :)
I like how unique the idea and setting is. The gameplay was fun for a while but I feel like it was missing something. I know you said that you didnt have time to test the balancing but I didn't feel like the balancing was an issue. It just felt like I needed some other objective to supplement the gameplay.
For example, you could have added some sort of counter like total sales, or management's attitude which is affected by your performance. If you play well and clean up the store by removing buckets and running over paint, management is happy and sales increase. When customers are painted, or if the store is too dirty, you lose sales and can get fired.
Something like that would have added a lot more depth to the gameplay, but obviously time was very limited. You did a lot in just 48 hours so great job
After a while I wasn't too sure what to do since there were no paint cans anymore. Anyway, I had fun playing this game! Good job!
@daniel-spruill Hi Daniel, could you elaborate? I'm not sure what you refer to - when you say "prompt". I hope you have time to help me
@fakefirefly You absolutely correct on those things. Considered the scoring - but simply ran out of time  and the timer is actually implemented - apparently I just couldn't remember the syntax
@fonkin Yeah - I really tried to make that obvious  It's mentioned in the "about" page AFAIR  And I think there is also a pop-up in the bottom (but they are easily overlooked)
@ludokultur Again I agree - there should be some kind of scoring - and I would also have liked to make the remaining area a bit more "involved". As always - it comes down to deadline and content vs. polish
@fluffygamedev I ended up in the exact same spot in my unfortunately ONLY playthrough  So that and the timer might be something I'm allowed to fix ... i'm a bit unsure on that.
@purpledartfrog @fakefirefly @fonkin @ludokultur @fluffygamedev
AND - thank you very much all of you for giving it your time  Have a brilliant morning, evening and/or daying according to your timezone
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
Had fun with this one, took me some time to figure out how this works though
@parttimeindie Thank you very much for playing - I had a sneaking suspicion that there would aaaaa couple of things that weren't immediately obvious  Glad you had fun nonetheless
Fun little game like the frog like noises. I think at some point there were no buckets left and I was just walking around. Not sure what to do then? Did I have to clean up the paint?
Really cute game, although I was a little confused at first about what I was meant to do
@douwe-ravers Thank you very much for playing Douwe  actually a previous commenter mentioned the same. And it also happened on my only playthrough (wups) ... So might have to do a quick bug fix ... that and the timer.
@slimmerburger Thank you very for playing  I think you are not the only one that was slightly confused.. The objective and gameplay probably isn't that intuitive
Nice entry! I had fun chasing down paint cans and frantically changing shirts. Like others have said it gets too frantic too soon but that's hard to get right in 48 hours  I liked the graphics and audio as well. Good job!

Fun game! It took a little to me to understood that while you're dirty you cannot take any more buckets (it was written on the bottom of the screen, duh), but after that, very solid entry. Cool scenario too!
This was super fun, I feel like it's a twist to PacMan, I need to hunt paint buckets, loved the dirty, change you tShirt mechanic, also really great the sound of the character <3 The fact that some areas are closed only adds to the hecktickness and unstability of the store.
Thank you very much for playing
@c64cosmin Thank you very much for the positive words  Actually did not consider the PacMan twist.. you do really have a point on that one.... Could be interesting to introduce these guys in a post-jam version (just need to shoehorn them into the theme)
2021-10-07_10h35_36.png
@maggardjosh Thank you very much and yes... balancing is likely one of the most difficult issues with the whole jam... because you can only really do it when the entire game has been created.
@kumber Yeah.... might have made sense to do a BIG pop-up with the while "dirty-thing"
This game is pretty fun, I like the sounds a lot. It would need a little balancing I think, and some clarifications ingame on the conditions for winning and loosing ; but great job for a jam game!
@guilloteam Thank you very much for playing and for the input
Cute and fun game. I just don't understand how a dirty uniform prevents you from catching buckets
@purpledartfrog you could have some managers running around, or crazy customers
@flying-dog-fish Yes and this is where you took a wrong turn.... you tried to apply logic to this entry... not really compatible  But Yeah... it made sense when I did it .. and your input is very likely the actual reason why so many don't catch that this is not allowed in the game... it's just not logical. SO really really good point.
@c64cosmin Was something along those lines I considered...
@flying-dog-fish .... actually could have been the other way around if anything... you were maybe not allowed to fetch buckets when in uniform... but I would maybe need a mechanic where you had to switch between handling customers (in uniform) and then changing to janitor outfit and hunting buckets....

Quite hard to play! Not being able to pickup buckets when dirty was a bit confusing, and getting dirty seemed a bit random. Took me a while to understand what was happening.

cute art :)
feels hard to win. if there are some upgrade for player like catch range up or speed up would be helpful
Fun little game. Bit confusing at first but once I got the hang of it got pretty fun running around, not sure what more there were to it after the message "aisle emptied" because I seemed to be stuck at that part but cute graphics and solid entry!
Thank you very much for playing
@lovor Yea not the most obvious one
@nyxkn Getting dirty is from the paint splashes on the floor - and yes it's a bit backwards.. you need clean uniform to pick up dirty things... I know I know... :face_palm_tone1:
@nekowei Absolutely agree - I was considering it... but simply ran out of time
@patrickrmc Aisles empty should actually trigger a game won.... if less than 10 paint cans escaped.
Looks cool and I like the sound effects, pretty cute game. Found it a little repetitive after a while but it is a compo game and I can see where it could be expanded on. Nice one!
@tigerfinch Thank you very much for playing and the kind words  And yes... avoiding repetetive games is rather difficult
