Got to round 11 by using the goat to get the goblinator, good reference there, was a little sad I couldn't auto get the priest but oh well. Fun concept but it's pretty hard since you can't sacrifice down from a 5 star unit to a 3. Overall it's pretty fun.

Very challenging game!
I managed to get to round 13, and I only got that far due to a lot of luck. I would be really interested in seeing a walkthrough to see if there's a way to advance further (is there a way to win this game?)
I played for almost 20 minutes and really enjoyed my time! I really liked the graphics style and especially the sprite of the witch and the way it interacts with the interface.

Quite an engrossing mechanic on display here! I played for probably 30 minutes before giving up on the campaign. The furthest I got was round 15. Unfortunately, it did leave me feeling a bit like getting further was down to luck. It's interesting just how on-theme the design of the mechanic is - you *must* sacrifice to win. Although a bit bare, the graphics and audio set the tone just well enough, provide the necessary information, and give you enough story and context to be motivated. Overall, very well done!

It's a pretty cool game with interesting mechanics! I'm a card game lover and I would say this game has great potential if there's a PvP mode and advanced rules for it. Another advice is that sacrificing your troop is much more efficient than attacking, so I think it may be better if you can balance sacrificing and attacking.

This game is surprisingly addicting! I really liked discovering what unique abilities some of the units had after I possessed them. It made me keep retrying to see if I could survive longer and encounter more units. I eventually managed to win by using the attack down and ritual abilities to create a lot of spirit value for later.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I do want to say, Yes there is a way to win the game! (campaign) I managed with (33 possessions, 13 kills and 34 sacrifices) but i've done it more then once, so there not 1 perfect path. Lots of possessions though. @matank @chaosed0 Campaign is actually deterministic, always same monsters, and they should always do the same thing (assuming you do the same too) I've actually made the wave to often allow perfect/clever sacrifice paths.
It's also important to remember that you can sacrifice "down" by using 1 high star unit on your side for many lower star on the other side: Yes, "downgrading" was instrumental to my clearing of game. (still need exact match though)
@wayen-k Sacrifice OPness is by design, it was the theme, I actually wanted to have a perfect path through no kill but it was a bit hard to pull off.
I need to find a windows to play this, it looks to nice
Made it to round 11. This was an awesome game and I'd like to share some ideas on what I think could help improve it. The sacrifice mechanic was well done, but since we couldn't sacrifice a higher level for a lower level (for example, I tried giving up the goblin that was 2 stars for the goat that was 1 star), I would have no idea what units I'd like to keep or get rid of for the next round. In my next few playthroughs, I got a better idea, but that was more through trial and error. I think if you have some sort of display to show the next group of enemies, that could open more strategic play in terms of saving possession for later rounds. Overall, that was a great game!

Fun game! Really nice use of the sacrifice mechanic. Tricky to figure out how to best use it. Liked that there was a nice variety of different units.

thats a realy cool idea. you have to make realy interesting decisions but it is quite difficult. I think it would be good if the player could sacrifice there higher cards to get lower ones.
I've never seen a mechanic like this before so it was fun for me. Extra like for the facial expression of the commander when your sacrifice is enough! :D

Great game! Most addicting game so far for me this LD! It is really difficult and I like it. At some points you really have to let go of valuable units to get further. Argh! :) Really great concept. Graphics and sound are not my favourite but the gameplay is superb. I got to round 12 but not giving up! :)

@legavroche Funnyly enough it was supposed to be "at least equivalent"(sacrifice>=possession) but I coded for equal and it worked well enough so I kept it that way. Did make handling possibilities easier and cancels efficiency of "farming star lvs) On the other hand, next fight preview is a good idea.
@stames You can!(as long the match is equal) @kornel-meszaros Tanks a lot, was rather fond of it myself!
@groggi , Thanks, I appreciate it. Dont give up, it is possible! thanks for playing.

Once I read the tutorial, I really enjoyed the mechanics of the game and how deep it could go. Seems like it'll take me a bit of thinking when I'm more awake to actually beat the game, but I found this super innovative. Well done!
This game is great, i love the possession mechanic, it meshes well into the normal turn based combat and creates some very engaging decisions. The art is simple but competently communicates what it intends, and the queens facial expressions changing with actions is a lovely bit of detail. Most importantly in my opinion, the game is really fun. I find a lot of game jam games forsake fun while chasing a theme implementation or more polish, but this ones enjoyable enough that i played it several times.

Somehow I did it. (There were times when enemies just passed their turns and didn't do anything, I don't know if that was intended but that's how I won atleast)
This game was the most fun of all games I got to play this jam. I learned with every playthrogh and played it for ~20 minutes. The idea of having sum and product for making sacrifices is just brilliant imo together with that you have to keep in mind what enemy creatures you could trade for yours. If there was a similar finished and polished game with the same mechanic I would certainly buy it. You just hit the bull's eye into my heart with this one. And the girl is cool.

Very addictive gameplay! It would be nice if we could check the ability of the enemy. The idea with possesing and sacrificing is very nice and fits the theme. I could see myself playing this in my free time until I beat it. :D
Wow this was a great game - Honestly had a blast playing!
I loved how you encorporated the sacrifice mechanic into the game, and all the different creatures having different abilities.. It's really well thought out and interesting!

Managed to get to level 14 in my multiple runs - But I could easily play on and get a higher score :yum:
For a quick improvement on the game, possibly having different scenery would be better - just going on the single grass and dirt track did get a little stale, these maybe could be dependant on what creatures spawn? Mountains for Goblins, Castle Town for Knights and Guards etc?
For a bigger update, it would be cool to some cosmetic choice for the witch. It would be fun getting achievement checkpoints such as 5, 10, 15 etc and getting a new hat for her to wear :yum:
Regardless, big thanks from [our team](https://discordapp.com/invite/whalesandgames), you've made a game really worth playing!

@loadsofmana Thanks a lot, I'm glad you also felt the gameplay meshed well. I wasn't too sure of participating, but once I had this idea I thought, "what the hell, not too complex, fits theme really well, and I feel it will probably be fun." The art, was a bit reckless of me, I had the whole context and theme down from the start, but actual drawing of queen was late in dev, and I just got carried away with it, found it fun and thought it could carry information as well as life. Glad you liked it.
@maximbegunov **We got a champ!** Congrats, clearing the game is a very challenging task. I know all abilities, hell I designed some of the clever patterns to clear the game and I can still fail if I'm not careful. Your end state is also different from both I show (very murderous!), so good job!
The enemies not acting is due to randomness of opponent move. (was meant to have AI, but seeing how hard it was without AI trying to kill you, it was cut) It is a luck thing, but since seed are the same, it can be reliably counted on.
It was a very interesting game to work on, only came to mind thanks to the Jam & theme, might be interesting to pursue further, it seems rather liked.
@svntax Somehow missed you, but congrats too! Sounds like some evvvillll cheesing went through, but hey if you cleared it, that's what counts! I find it funny too cause one of the last quick fix I added was giving everyone an attack ability & at least 1 atk (troubadour had 0 atk, goat couldn't attack, neither the priest) and that was exactly to prevent stacking up levels against inoffensive foes. But yeah, making use of atk down is a clever workaround.
Thinking about it though, you would still need to know the proper stars to reach because high stars are useless unless it can properly match foes, so I'm sure great credit is still due. **Congratulation** and good job!
@rhewid Thank you and yes, I wished I had the time to show what abilities do (although I wouldn't have show what enemies can do, finding out is part of the fun of possessing them. I mean, who wants a goat... Until you know the true potential of goats?!) But yeah, glad you liked it.
@ponchoguy I appreciate it! I thought of multiple locals but started with one and never had time to add more. (would have obviously wanted the final boss being in a more proper location!). As for playing dress up with the queen, that's hilarious, yet such a proper feature for a full fledged experience! I did realize I forgot to give her a hat (crown) shame.
Thank your team, I appreciate the feedback!
Very good job I enjoyed this game very much although at one point it did crash do to some coding error. I repeated exactly how that round had gone and had no error may have been something with my computer. You did a good job of making sure that as I played I never felt that I was being cheated (meaning either you play tested a lot or you just got lucky)
P.S. Compared to my art this is very good
@joh Thanks for sharing! This is one of those games where you can explain it perfectly and people just don't get it until they start playing lol I don't think Eryn did all that well, but we had fun, the music was incredibly good and liked the art. Very cool idea!
You can watch the gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MZ_QoEaCr0
Nice use of the theme, I liked the ability to upgrade and trade units to get new ones, though it certainly got tricky once units started dying and losing spirit, it was hard to find turns to recover spirit via goats and I never got a chance to capture a product possession.
