I think my initial criticism of the game was that it didn't provide you with enough info about what you were supposed to do, but I realised as I played more that it was a strength of the game, reminded me a lot of the old zelda games. Plus the soundtrack was awesome, really enjoyed it!
Loved the art style and the music fits too well. Keep going like this!

@cr0wns Just before submitting , I cut help option from main menu , because I didnt have time for that. Now I have feeling that it was good choice too, because there is more to learn and discover. The main idea behind the game was, that with every attempt you discover more about this world, find new secrets, get better at avoiding obstacles, etc etc Thanks for playing!

Amazing art style!

A very good entry. The graphics are really enormously good. But the game is completely lacking in innovation.
I gathered some candy and then sacrificed it...and then got smited! lol fun game overall

I really liked the art style but collectathons are unfortunately not my thing

I loved your game ! I don't know if its possible but i have a suggestion. You should clamp the mouse inside window. Mouse always goes out of window  Sound and Music are great and i loved your idea. Well done !

Cool game, but still a bit classic, need more innovation. Nice level design though.
Charming game with charismatic graphics. I feel hard to distinguish the spike traps from the first dungeon (past the bridge) but its really addicting! It's a shame dying once makes you restart the game!

The music got me hooked! Took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do, but in the end no explanation was required. Well done. Expected some kind of special item in the last dungeon (as in the two previous) but couldn't find any. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Now that I think about it, I never did get that key behind the trees. Hm...
Oh, and one more thing. I liked the way you introduced the player to hidden walls by having candys lead up to some trees in the beginning. Nicely done.

@harark i am glad that someone notices such details :) and yes, there is something hidden in the last dungeon, but it is not very communicated to the player by any tip. I should have made some different texture for the wall or something, but i had some other serious problems one hour before the end of jam, you know how it is :p

I think if this game didn't have the music it has, I would probably have lost interest pretty quickly. But all in all, it's not a terrible collectemup. It's just hard enough that you have to be paying attention, but easy enough that you can tank some damage if you just don't feel like learning a particular pattern. I had fun with it, thanks for the game

Really nice! Sound kept me engaged while the mechanics+art style kept me from being too frustrated even after losing 3 times while going to base with ~350 candies ;P
The theme implementation was very weak imo.. But it didn't stop you from submitting a good game! Well done!
Quite fun to play. Awesome level design. Fine graphics. I like how the game unfolds over type by gaining new items or activating teleporters. But there are a few aspects of the game I have to criticize. First of all, I'd it would be great if the deity gets angrier over time. So the player has to hurry a little bit. And some kind of indicator of how many candies the player has collected compared to the maximum candy count would be nice. But after all a great entry given the fact the game was created within 72 hours.
I love the art style and music

Really great. Everything had amazing polish to it, which is rare in jam games. I didn't encounter any bugs and I liked the Metroidvania style locked areas. The locked door and the golden key being stuck in plain sight was a good touch that titillated players to try and find secrets.
The theme of the jam wasn't present as strongly as other games I've seen, but given how amazing the execution is, I'd say this one's a super solid entry. well done. Cheers!
Where to begin?
Compo ended becoming a Jam entry? No surprise! You said it your self barely had any time to add help options
The plot was probably thin as paper, but that probably was never a focus. The issue I had though was that the stakes didn't feel too high as the bolts were dogdeable till the end of the game where the attacks become so frequent that I died while smitten between two spike traps. (OUCH) I also started thinking I'd have to make frequent visits to the altar or get a game over but nope  instead that's the worst thing to do. (You did add this to the description as a tip so it's on my part for not reading that).
Many have praised the graphics and sound already, the secrets etc. I really liked the magnet pull the player has because incoming candy ends up functioning like an arrow showing you where you *can* go next, not where you have to. But it's a shame that if you stop following a trail it's rather hard to locate it again until you memorize the layout.
The concept might not be original and although I didn't like it's execution the omnipresent danger was a funny idea for an exploration game. There was literally no refuge! You could even get hit in dungeons. I guess the best idea would be to speed through the dungeons and *then* return to the overworld to collect all the remaining sweets so that when the attacks go into "rapid-fire" you'll have some decent room to dodge. Which seemed pretty counter intuitive to me but whatever floats your boat man.
I just noticed one of your screenshots shows three heart containers? Were those hard to reach hearts meant to increase max HP? or did you plan on adding a difficulty setting? Either way as expected as it is, it's sad to see ideas that couldn't come to fruition.
Nice job! (Write a nice response to this lest a smite you next :3 )
The music pulled me in and kept me. There were a few other things that were also very enjoyable. The graphics were very well done, and I loved how you telegraphed where the lightning was going to strike. A bit more explanation of what to do would have helped. (Although you have added this above.) When I first started playing, I grabbed candy, saw my meter was low, so I went back to the altar. Oops...
I felt that the connection to the theme was a bit weak, but it was a good attempt to look at sacrifice in a different way.
Overall, a well done entry.

What a cute little game! Actually super duper enjoyed it, and even though I thought I had 100% it by the end I only got 86%! :P
If I had one decent criticism, it's the audio balance seemed a little wonky. In particular, when opening the large chests filled with candy and retrieving them all at once, the audio became a sharp spike as each of them played their audio clip.
This is really good! I like the music, though it does get a bit repetitive after a while. I did notice that you move quite a bit faster if moving diagonally which felt a bit weird.
It did take a bit to understand what I was supposed to do. I thought I'd just collect some candy and sacrifice it but that killed me so I figured I had to get all the pieces but still wasn't sure.
Also, in the dungeons I kept getting hit by traps but it really looked like I wasn't in the way so maybe the hitboxes need tweaked a bit?
Anyway, overall this is a great entry!

@ilseroth nice to hear that difficulty is more or less balnced because i didnt have much time for testing
@blacklambert actually just before deadline I cut from game time limit because I didnt have time to check what amount of time is needed to complete it
@icegold actually I discovered one bug, but it appears only when completed in 100% so nobody will encounter it I guess :p (the music is not playing then and after a while the game gets frozen)
@themadprogramer about heart containers : original amount of health was 3 but rhe game was quite difdicult so I increased this. Actually it is a screenshot made after doing that, but I forgot to add also empty heart graphics for these additional two. I fixed that later.
@aetylus about candies playing their sound effect all at once: yeah I know it , but I didnt actually know how to fix it easy way :/
@hexbit-jack i forgot to fix this moving bug , it is very common for games like this (vertical speed is being added to horizontal zpeed, apart from being equal to them or sth like this)
Thanks for feedback everyone, and thanks for playing!

Love the idea of learning by mistakes. My only issue was initially I thought the game had bugs but later after I read the comments here I figured it out...Anyway great game...
I was not able to collect all the sweets, however the art and music is great and gameplay is smooth and challenging. Really fun game overall, congrats!
Nice pixelart. Fun too. Keep up the good work!
The art and audio were super good! The game design was great too, but I found it too difficult to want start from scratch every time I died. That's probably just me. It's an excellent entry!
