Congrats! Really cool game mechanics. The art and music are fitting. I love this kind of games and I know that creating the levels must be tricky.

+1 for pico8!

Nice music, good graphics overall, interesting mechanics. I especially liked the level design, congratulations for having many levels, and thanks for not having too many so I could still reach the end of the game :-)

I really enjoyed this. It was simple but really fun, and with a great deal of variety. As soon as you introduced the shadow character, I was like "Whoa this is great" and it really helped make the gameplay fresh again. Congrats on a fantastic entry!

Good PICO-8 games are kind of rare. I really enjoyed it ! Mechanics are cool, simple but fun.

Nice game! Music and graphics are awesome. I liked the level design also, but I managed to get blocked on the yellow tiles with no possibility of restarting the level (or did I missed something ?) Here's a screenshot: [LDjam.PNG](///raw/607/21/z/19047.png)

Clever little puzzle game, with cool music and graphics. The difficulty was a bit random but the puzzle design was very solid overall !

beepyeah 2018-08-14 13:51

@niarkou Thank you. Yes, looks like you are stuck. just press Z to reset the level.

beepyeah 2018-08-14 13:51

@valden yeah, i realize the skill ramp isn't perfect. maybe i will rearrange some of the levels to provide a smoother increase in difficulty.

Simple but fun game. Your shadowy opponent actually popping in after a while, as opposed to just being a more metaphorical thing, was nice and added in a nice change of pace from the first few levels.

One of the best games so far! Excellent graphics, music and level design.

Great game! The puzzle were really interesting, especially after the doppelganger was added, though I felt the difficulty jumped around a bit. I've seen quite a few falling tile puzzle games this jam, though I feel that this one has the most original twist on the concept. I would love to see more!

Really cool game! Loved the graphics. The music went well with the waving background. I imagine it's not easy to come up with the puzzles, but maybe you could rearrange the order of the levels because it felt the difficulty was a bit random. Congratulations on your entry!

Awesome game. The puzzles are very clever and challenging. Very well done!

rusty-bailey 2018-08-16 04:09

I loved this game. Very interesting puzzles. As others have stated, you could probably reorder the levels. I would also recommend having an instructions screen before the first level starts. I got stuck on level 4 because I didn't quite understand all the mechanics until I happened to read the description below the game. I really enjoyed it though. Loved the sprite for the player.

I did run into a weird bug. I beat the game and decided to try to run through it again. I got to level 5 and some weird stuff started happening. As I walked through the level, random tiles started falling even though I hadn't stepped on them yet, so I couldn't complete a second run-through. You can see it happening below:

However, it is a testament to the game that I completed it and even wanted to play through it again. Great job!

beepyeah 2018-08-16 15:03

@rusty-bailey thanks for the feedback, and the bug report. that is super weird. i'll have to try it out myself and see what is going on with the level data. my guess is that it think the shadow-guy is active even though it isnt' showing him : )

suve 2018-08-17 11:43

Nice and simple. The audio and graphics fit together nicely, creating a very retro atmosphere. The puzzles are quite fun, especially once Shadow Valdi appears. I really enjoyed this and I'd gladly play a version with more levels.

this game has no weaknesses - one of my favorites of #ld42 - thanks for making this

hueson 2018-08-18 07:02

The introduction of the ghost, I guess you could call him, changed things up just enough to reenliven what the game presents.

vekstr 2018-08-18 07:25

Very well executed! Some levels were too obvious to solve, but overall a nice game

lonewookie 2018-08-19 03:48

Congratulations! I can't think of anything to complain about. I would love to see a game like this fleshed out more! Really liked it!

tymus 2018-08-22 23:14

Really cool entry, really well made, some level were just satisfying, other were a bit harder, overall nicce balance, I really enjoyed it :D

kaiclavier 2018-08-23 09:20

Cute little puzzle game! I felt some of the levels in the second half were a bit easy, but honestly I prefer that to impossible. The mechanics are displayed well so I think I just caught on fast. That last level is what it's all about: taking everything you know from the game and using it in a slightly different way... it was a very well-executed final challenge!

toboggan 2018-08-23 13:45

Hell yeah. Cool puzzles and i love the music. Really strong stuff.

A few people took this approach to the theme (Orenji-Shima, California Jane), and yet they all feel very different, which is neat.

All three of you didn't include an undo option too gahhh :(

toadietechnika 2018-08-27 02:23

ldscreen.png I like the puzzle element of this game, although some levels are easier than the previous one. Really took the time to solve them all and it went successful in my part. A great entry, well played.

strega 2018-09-04 00:33

Very well done puzzle game! Loved the shadow mechanic. Very fun and just the right level of difficulty :). I could see this being expanded with more mechanics such as teleporters, moving tiles, flipping tiles, multiple shadows, etc
