breaks at the title screen for me (win 10, firefox)

justinooncx 2016-08-29 05:04

Surprisingly difficult to control. Angling forward doesn't seem to work at all.

potatoing_ 2016-08-29 05:17

Moving forward doesn't seem to be quite working for me all the time, but other than that, I like the artstyle (except maybe the children:D).

runedrake 2016-08-29 05:31

@justinooncx: the game was meant to be difficult to control, but maybe I made it a bit too difficult!

@Capt Nemo: I have had troubles with Firefox as well (unresponsive script). It usually works eventually if I let the script continue.

capt-nemo 2016-08-29 05:57

Ok i got it to work on chrome, you got to keep the bowl at just the right angle to move. That is the best and hardest part, also the art is cute. Good Job!

jaxonf92 2016-08-29 07:04

I love the art style of this one

jackyjjc 2016-08-29 07:32

I captured 4 childrens! omnomnomnom. The control is difficult and a bit confusing at first. After getting a hang of it (kind of, it seems like I need to press 'up' to fly up and need to keep the cup slightly leaning forward), i can start flying. It be much nicer if you can explain the control a little bit at the beginning of the game. I love the title screen art and the overall art style of the game though. Well done for finishing the game!

im-oab 2016-08-29 07:46

I captured 7 children. :)

I though children will explode when big thing hit him.

ghen 2016-08-29 08:16

really nice idea and execution, i also glad finally found someone using haxeflixel :D
anyway, i enjoy play it, but honestly imo the rotate control is not needed at all, i use only "up" the entire game
very solid entry indeed :D

flatgub 2016-08-29 08:33

Cute game with neat graphics! I managed to flip the Mortar upside down and but it continued to fly upwards xD!

nanimono 2016-08-29 08:36

Can't play this one. Baba Yaga eats all my system memory and hangs up the browser

colapolka 2016-08-29 09:34

Suggestion: Make Baba Yaga's mortar start at a slight angle. As of now, you can easily move forward by just pressing up now and then and completely ignoring the other keys.

I really dig the title screen, though.

sakaki 2016-08-29 11:12

It freezes after I click on "Play" button

Windows 10 html5 using Firefox Broswer :/

brainybeard 2016-08-29 11:15

Interesting game. I had trouble steering the mortar and only collected 2 children both times I played. Also I noticed there was a bit of lag on my computer after hitting play? Anyway cool submission

samuelsousa 2016-08-29 11:18

Was unable to play, browser crashed on PLAY.
Nice visuals!

valiap 2016-08-29 13:51

It took me some time to get the hang of the control. The parallax scrolling in the scene was cool. Haven't heard Babayaga before so i Google it.Now i know what the bowl was for.0 - 0

benko 2016-08-29 13:58

Very nice parallax effect with the clouds and trees!

move127 2016-08-29 15:11

I like the art on both the witch and the background. It would be nice if there were obstacles or something that would require you to do something different. From what I could tell, the game was just about trying to go as fast as possible in a straight line. Maybe the children could also be at different heights.

awesomedannyray 2016-08-29 17:30

Love the art. However, I can't move further than a little distance from the start. The character just crashes into the ground and its rolls a short distance before stopping. Pressing up causes it to go straight up vertically and then it drops straight down again.

rudenko 2016-08-29 22:17

freezes after play button (win7 firefox) :( baba yaga kostianaya noga :)

avalanche-games 2016-08-30 04:09

Great artstyle but there's a few bugs such as flying through the children, sometimes the player character doesn't fly forward and hangs on load.

2016-08-30 07:06

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

g-beuneker 2016-08-30 09:13

The graphics look amazing in this game! But it was really hard to control? As soon as I tilted a bit there was just no way to reliably go forward again. I just flew around all over the place until I died :(

jupiter_hadley 2016-08-30 17:16

Neat idea, was kind of hard to control though! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/hC8B45eG0n0

publicidadeba 2016-08-31 03:42

Loved the title and how the main character looks!

seleb 2016-08-31 14:09

Like a lot of the other people, I thought the game had crashed as soon as I hit play, but while I was in the middle of writing a comment it started working. I think you need to add a progress bar or something to show that it's loading and hasn't just frozen.

The artwork is nice, but the controls are very difficult! I think it might have been easier to play if up/down just controlled your speed, and left/right controlled your angle instead of tying the speed to the angle.

leaden 2016-09-01 20:28

Haha, it's fun! But too easy if player just use UP button to maintain altitude, but using left-right arrows makes things complicated :o))

geckoo1337 2016-09-01 21:11

I cannot play - it crashes my firefox browser :/

zzapp 2016-09-02 06:58

The controls may be a little too difficult, once you start rotating everything spirals out of control way to quickly.
The graphics were great thought and the idea inst bad just could of used more balancing difficulty wise.

bmacintosh 2016-09-03 06:27

Your art is quite nice! I didn't understand how the controls worked. The most reliable strategy seems to be just to tap the up key to keep your height, helicopter-game style. Once you start rotating you can never really re-balance the thing. I got to 5 kids that way, two games in a row the sixth kid was not collidable.

Also, I came here because the LD map said you were in Antarctica.

deive_ex 2016-09-04 01:08

Hum... I don't see much of the theme in the game. Maybe I didn't understand it...?
Well, anyway, the controls are pretty confusing and not very nice to use. It also takes a long time to load, so it looks like it's crashed. I miss some music too :/

lonespelunker 2016-09-07 01:57

Nice little game. The pestle is a little hard to control, but it sounds like that's intentional. I was able to get 7 targets, but I one of them I landed on but didn't collect - not sure why.

(You might want to block people from going left, and have some indication of the direction they need to go. I accidentally went off the left side at one point, and was unable to correct for obvious reasons.)

I thought the parallax effect in the background was really well done. Gave a real sense of depth and speed. I'd like to see the foreground sprites done with that level of detail, and perhaps animated.

themonsterfromthedeep 2016-09-11 05:11

I like the art style of the witch and the forest - the child sprites don't seem to match it, however. :/

The parallax effect is also really cool.

The main problem is that it eats up a lot of memory, apparently, so I couldn't play it on Firefox and there was some lag on Chrome.

Aside from that, the one thing that I think would improve it is some matching sound effects.

franklins-ghost 2016-09-16 10:58

Liked the art of the cauldron and witch, thought they looked great. Just wish the children art style was closer to that of the witch. The controls were quite difficult but once I got the hang of it I was able to collect four children on my third go. Would be nice if you could have some more challenges so you would have to navigate more, cause cauldron flying seems like a fun time.

charlesbaby 2016-09-19 13:06

Nice use of sound effects. Also a hilarious premise; I love learning about other cultures, so bonus that I had to research the character and learned something new.
