Apr 30 10:20:26 GARUA ♥ 1 Awesome submission! It felt a bit overpowered though that you could infinitely replay challenges to get crazy amounts of health. The final battle looked so cool, but in reality, I had so much health that I just tanked the damage with my 50+ lives. The invulnerability frames were so long that lives were an almost indestructible barrier.
Apr 30 11:21:24 1h 00m The Extravagant Bill ♥ 2 This game was *almost* legendary. The graphics, sound and style were all awesome. A few issues existed though. The multiplayer aspect almost certainly wouldn't have worked (I didn't try, sorry). The player using keyboard controls was at a HUGE disadvantage, since the controls were so slow and inaccurate. This would kill any form of multiplayer competition. The keyboard player also couldn't see what they were holding, as the item often rendered behind the hand. Awesome style though. The game idea was simple, and certainly would have potential. Maybe if both were keyboard control, it could be better balanced? Anyways, thanks for the game, cheers!
Apr 30 11:32:40 11m 16s BulletLife ♥ 1 Cool game! The idea of shooting with your health was cool, but it was maybe a bit convoluted calling your health 'years'. The movement was a bit of a pain, since it took time to turn, and the upgrades were almost useless since I always died immediately after getting them. Maybe make them cheaper? Otherwise, great stuff! It was nice all of the details in the environment, which was very unusual for a Ludum Dare game, so good job, you managed time well!
Apr 30 12:00:26 27m 46s Blood and goods ♥ 3 All-round outstanding! The game didn't always feel overly fair though, since most enemies required that you take a blow. I thus found it hard to get new items, as the lost health almost always killed me... I also wish that I could have used an exclusively keyboard control scheme for the buttons. I was stuck using the keyboard for the game, and the mouse for the ui. Otherwise, outstanding, just as other commenters have said!
Apr 30 12:22:12 21m 46s Blood Money ♥ 3 The sheer amount of extra stuff (items and upgrades) was very unusual for an LD game, good job! The game is great, but honestly, I think it needs a bit more work. The procedure to your generation definitely needs some work, it's easy to get lost. You also fell into a trap that waaaaaay too many devs fall into. Difficulty = Health. When the game feels like getting hard, it just makes the enemies take longer to kill, which just makes dealing with them a pain. Maybe introduce ranged attacks, or give the enemies more speed. Maybe make them swarm you at specific times. But please, avoid the crazy health walls. I got to a point that a group of enemies took minutes to deal with with an upgraded shotgun. This was not fun. I want to get on with the (otherwise great) game, but each enemy felt like a chore. Upgrading, and health as a currency were all great tho, well done!
Apr 30 12:39:55 17m 43s Biomass ♥ 1 Awesome game. I managed to get to a point that nothing else was showing on the map, so I guess stuff doesn't respawn? Sad. I could've sunk hours into that.
Apr 30 13:12:19 32m 24s Ticker Clicker Defence ♥ 2 Cool game, but when I started, I didn't quite understand what all the UI meant. Once I played the round, I realised that was the path of enemies, but I'd misplaced my turrect. So I replayed, and had to sit through that painfully slow menu screen. Please speed that up. Everything was nice and easy, that is until round 20, which I'm certain is impossible. Bloom was a bit on the crazy side, and although the changing ui colours was nice, the version of ui with the bright blue grid was very hard to look at. With more towers and enemies, this could become a very fleshed out, and most importantly fun game!
May 1 06:54:07 17h 41m Transfusion ♥ 1 Okay... So I got through the entire game, wondering why it was called Transfusion. I completed it, then was redirected to the menu where I realised there was a control I hadn't once used; transfusion... Does that mean I got the hardcore ending? Could have made some puzzles where the transfusion was actually *required* to pass, rather than a helpful hand? Should also make the extra control more obvious. I gave the control scheme a glance, saw wasd and didn't expect any abnormal controls, so I didn't scrutinise further. The game was still very fun. The punishing gameplay was actually quite cool, and I enjoyed it even without the transfusion mechanic. I was going to complain about the two screens being completely disjointed (for me it was like I was playing two separate levels), but now I see I was playing wrong. Could maybe make a hardcore mode; no transfusions? Awesome stuff! 😄
May 1 07:06:52 12m 45s Harvester ♥ 1 Impressive! The controls were often a pain, but I think that's the point? I think it would have been cool if the forward control was holding left and right button at the same time, as the forwards button was annoying. Cute little minimap, but the game seemed to lack things to do with the money, like maybe a minimap upgrade, or thruster improvements? Otherwise a neat little game, with some great atmosphere!
May 1 07:21:55 15m 03s Memorandum ♥ 1 Awesome stuff! I'd say your best work so far. The style is great, and the bleak environments carried an amazing atmosphere. The first few levels did a very good job at *priming*, where the threat was introduced as you entered the level. The last few though, I wandered into the level and lost heaps of memories, in a way that feels unfair. Otherwise though, an incredible submission!
May 1 07:39:29 17m 34s Elevator Pitch ♥ 2 I could only wish for it to be longer. It was so damn polished though, easily the most polished that I have played thus far.
May 1 12:27:46 4h 48m Nutty Twins ♥ 0 Cool game! The caption being 'rob the bank without guns' made me think it would be something action, but I'm ok with puzzles too. It was cool how the two characters complemented each other, but I think the puzzles were maybe a bit too easy. I feel like the full potential of the system wasn't really met, mostly because the levels were so open and spacious. Perhaps something like sokoban, where the size given is exactly the size required to complete the level? Still though, very fun with an innovative puzzle element!
May 2 12:46:51 24h 19m Fateshift ♥ 1 Hey! Very cool game! The combat was actually really fleshed out, and there was so much strategy in just the simple bit you had. I loved the impact of the perfect shield attack, it was so juicy. Impressive stuff. A few things tho; I wouldn't recommend using flipped letters in your game name. Without the plaintext above it on the games list, I wouldn't have really known what the game was called, cos some are flipped horizontally, others vertically, and it all becomes a challenge to read (which you probably don't want from the game's logo). I also wish that there was animation interuptions in this game. I would often be mid-way through just a simple left attack when the enemy attacks, and the animation doesn't finish fast enough to block. This made the little enemies easily the hardest, since their fast attacks could not be blocked if you were attacking at the same time. It took me a few tries to get to the merchant, as the block attack wasn't instantly easy to grasp. Overall, a very solid entry, you should most definitely be proud! 😄
May 2 15:14:55 2h 28m Escape from Hell ♥ 3 The game looks amazing! The pixel art is mind blowingly pretty, if only there was enough time to flesh out the mechanics. The respawn mechanic is actually rather interesting, and I think it does a great job at breaking up the game into different parts. It would be cool if there were a bunch of different respawn areas, to give extra variety, but I completely understand this not being possible for a compo game. Another issue I had was the grinding. You *could* go back and forth from the boss battle to the respawn world, but what is the more obvious path is to just grind souls then fight the boss. What I found was that I grinded for five minutes, then had all the souls I needed to wreck the boss, no difficulty experienced. It would probably be better if the enemies *didn't* respawn naturally and only respawned when you died. This would keep you retrying the boss at a regular interval. That would do a better job of giving 'survived by the skin of my teeth' moments, since the player won't have the chance to grind ridiculous levels of power. It would also that the game is frequently split up, from high stakes boss battle one minute, to laid back simple enemies the next. Currently, the way I played the game was instant death from boss, five minutes of grinding, easy win. This probably isn't a very good difficulty curve, and I think there's a lot to be gained from limiting the amount of power a player can obtain. Otherwise though, the graphics were all round amazing, good job. I would have liked to see what this game would have become as a jam game, with a full extra 24 hours of work added. I think it would be a truly awesome game, and what you've got now is testament to that! 👍
May 3 05:48:33 14h 33m SIGNET ♥ 1 Incredible graphics, but I wasn't really sure what I was doing. Is there some sort of puzzle to it, or is it just meant to be casual and relaxing? I love what you've done with the sound. There's something so special about the sounds; beautiful atmosphere. You should try to promote your game on the LD blog, or by other means. This is an awesome game, and the only reason I found yours was that it was similarly named to mine. Also, was there an end? I got the feeling that it was endless, but am I missing something? Regardless, great piece of work, thanks for spending time making it! 😄
May 3 06:07:52 19m 19s Rashness ♥ 1 Times like these, I wish LD had a 'scroll to bottom' button. Cool game. Honestly, I tried all the powers and the only one that seemed particularly useful was damage. Otherwise, all round awesome.
May 6 04:59:17 70h 51m Darkest Decision ♥ 3 Wow guys, amazing creation! The only thing I would ask for is some different monster lines for the late game. By this point, every week it just talks about the birds, and how amazing it is. Maybe something new each week to keep it fresh?
May 6 06:42:00 1h 42m Library of Madness ♥ 0 Heyo, looks good, but I had a problem. The game took around five minutes to load. Then, when the tutorial taught me to use the down arrow, my computer crashed when I pressed the button. That wasn't the game crashing, or even the browser. My entire computer crashed. Not sure what the heck you were doing there, but I can only imagine it was something on your end, coinciding with the down arrow press. I ran the game on Chrome, Windows.
May 6 10:14:16 3h 32m Arrow of Light ♥ 2 Awesome game, easily the most fun I've had all jam. The only thnig that I'm concerned about is the lyrics of the song; 1,2,3,4! I would not recommend this game to people who are only just learning to count, this game is hard! And I loved it! thanks for the awesome game, ending wasn't the greatest, but it's still an all round amazing game!
May 10 05:40:51 91h 26m The Tenth Item in G4 ♥ 1 Amazing sound scape. Mood was off the charts. At times I didn't know who was talking though, lost track of the different character colours. Could have maybe used some name tags to identify everyone? Otherwise an awesome entry, severely underappreciated. Good job!
May 15 04:04:53 118h 24m Cyborg Highway ♥ 1 I often lost track of my character, and the whole death mechanic got a bit confusing. Sometimes being hit killed you, and others the traffic saved you, and honestly, I think this is kinda weird. I would get hit, then release the controls expecting death, wonder where the game over screen is then actually die from still being in the game. This was also a pain for the enemies, since the amount of hits required to kill them was random. I didn't really have any control over whether or not a hit enemy dies, since that depended on the position of the traffic; a factor out of my control. Thus, it just felt like RNG as to whether or not an enemy (or I) would stay dead. Awesome game, high quality for a 72 hour endeavour, good job!
May 15 04:37:41 32m 48s ORBid ♥ 1 Awesome game! I loved it so much, that I sank half an hour into it. Would have gone further, but I ran out of upgrades, and I ran out of waves, since the next level button doesn't do anything. I didn't find it particularly challenging, but some situations did feel intense. I think the most painful part of this game was that you could kill yourself by planting/shooting. Maybe just prevent the player from shooting and planting whilst on one orb, because there was a few times that I accidentally died from not paying attention to my health. Amazing entry!
May 16 01:48:59 21h 11m Lifleline Warriors ♥ 0 Great stuff. Some minor problems here and there, but overall, very incredible work for two days. Most of my problems related to the big playable character, who was so big that the arrow on the floor was obstructed. His range was also so low that it was impossible to kill other enemies of the same type without dying yourself. Probably could have switched weapons, but the enemy boxers were hella strong. I tried all of the other characters too, but they felt very slow. I think these classes would be more fun if they attacked faster, and maybe create a ranged class? There were so many upgrades for ranged weapons, but I never saw any... Overall the game was outstanding, and I'm looking really deep just to find any faults, so good job! Keep up the work, the updates are looking really good! Not sure why the pickups exploded tho...
May 19 08:15:10 78h 26m Fowl Goods ♥ 1 Loved it! Would be cool to expand it with crafting, or maybe partial answers? A lot of things felt right, but were rejected, so maybe there could be multiple, or partial solutions? Some of the descriptions were also a little off, a little hammer isn't exactly heavy or deadly, so this one threw me a bit, particularly when I had a bunch of weapons that are heavy and deadly. Amazing job, loved the music! Keep it up! 👍
May 19 09:00:04 44m 54s Bartleby in Space ♥ 1 Nice stuff! I particularly liked L4D4, smart! Like the commenter above took two turns, it seems the very first key item you get is the hardest, and once you've got that, you're set. Maybe could have reduced the amount of oxygen you get back after each key item is collected, because refilling it is a bit much, particularly when I already have most of the things I needed for the next key item. Great job with this! Just a tip for next time, you used FakeMusicGenerator for music, but the music it generates isn't actually made by them. The music on that site is actually generated using [CGMusic](http://maciej.codeminion.com/2008/05/cgmusic-computers-create-music/). I would recommend getting the music directly from CGMusic, because there you actually have control over what type of music is generated, instruments used and some other things, which is handy! Awesome stuff!
