Aug 14 20:02:29 Little Bear Planet ♥ 2 I love the way you realized the theme! Also, the music is amazing. Turning is a bit wonky (I immediately rebound the controls still found myself hitting the wrong buttons), but the game is very enjoyable overall :)
Aug 14 20:29:03 26m 34s Welcome to BURELAND ♥ 1 I really like the idea of killing the monsters by exploiting their movement patterns -- but I had trouble recognizing a clear pattern for most of them. If their movement was less random you could probably leverage the puzzle component, although you'd probably have to compensate with better level design (maybe environmental hazards?) l do feel like the setting could be very interesting!
Aug 14 20:42:28 13m 25s Inventory Quest ♥ 2 Neat idea! Figuring out which items are valuable and which aren't turned out to be a lot of fun. I was wondering whether hiding the item value and only relying on the description could make the game more interesting, that way you wouldn't just be comparing numbers. Oh, and you nailed the theme!
Aug 14 21:16:02 33m 34s When Life Gives You Lemons ♥ 1 Holy, you really knocked it out of the park both art-wise and music-wise! You can really feel that a lot of love went into this. The main menu song is already stuck in my head :D The gameplay is solid, but could be a bit more juicy -- I'd love to feel some more oomph. Maybe make the character respond more to firing and add more blood (lemonade?) splatters? Some kind of goal would be nice, too; I just kept playing until I accidentally got cornered, which was a little disappointing. Also, being quite cheeky with the theme there ;)
Aug 14 21:50:14 34m 12s Bunny Bazooka ♥ 1 Awesome art! It reminds me of those artworks made from everyday objects, can't remember what they're called. The gameplay is a bit slow for my taste, but landing a hit is very satisfying (and so is shooting in general). I like your take on the theme. I love how you are replaced by another bunny when you die :D
Aug 16 18:19:51 44h 29m Commercial Mars: Lunar Lander + Tetris Mash up ♥ 1 Nice game! I had a bunch of fun with it. Flying the rocket felt very good and navigating the structures you previously built is a fun challenge. I did feel like most blocks just gave you terrible, but not necessarily *interesting* options as to where to place them. I ended up putting all of them on one side, producing a corridor that you can simply fall down in; there should probably be a disincentive for this (maybe add wind at higher altitudes?). Even then, I really enjoyed this!
Aug 22 18:45:06 144h 25m Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies ♥ 1 I had a lot of fun with this game! I especially liked how you had to adjust your playstyle to the upgrades you collect, it really keeps things interesting. However, the balance probably needs to be tweaked a bit, just take a look at the build I ended up getting :D Screen Shot 2018-08-22 at 20.19.08.png The gamepla felt a bit grindy, but you progress quickly enough to offset this. The effect probably won't last forever, though. Revealing which items are in which rooms is a great decision! It adds an interesting layer to the character building.
Aug 23 18:55:14 24h 10m Stax of the Dead ♥ 1 Awesome game! The core concept fits the theme *really* well, so great job on that. There is a surprising amount of depth in arranging, dodging, and juggling the enemies. Making the gun shoot upwards only is an amazing decision! It really encourages you to take care of the playfield so it doesn't become too cluttered to move around in. I also like how each enemy is unique, expands the game in an interesting way, and fits well into the overall picture (except for the gems, which I feel work best in isolation or with bats). I think the double jump could use a bit of work; the earlier you jump in the air the higher you travel, which is somewhat counter-intuitive. In general, I wished for more precise air control, perhaps a jetpack of some kind. Whether I could escape the enemies as they surrounded me felt random at times. That said, I had a *lot* of fun with this and probably spent way too much time playing :)
Aug 23 19:11:51 16m 37s Swirling Infestation ♥ 0 Neat idea! I can see how not being careful with where you exorcise people could totally screw you over. A bit more pressure could do the game well, maybe a smaller map or more NPCs?
Aug 24 15:23:29 20h 11m Quantum Customs ♥ 1 Nice game! The core gameplay is simple, but really fun. I would consider making the blocks break earlier and randomly. It could help varying the challenge even more. I dig the music and intro screen!
Aug 24 16:00:10 36m 41s Metal Gear Noah ♥ 0 Love the post compo!
Aug 24 20:17:02 4h 16m Squeezed Out ♥ 2 The art and music are trippy, I like that. All in all this is more a game of luck than skill, but maybe that's intended. Or maybe my reaction times are just bad, who knows.
Aug 24 20:33:14 16m 12s Trattoria ♥ 0 Awesome! This game definitely has potential to become a great restaurant sim
Aug 24 21:00:42 27m 28s Smelly Corp. ♥ 0 Interesting concept and a unique take on the theme! It's like pipe dream and a tycoon sim mashed together.
Aug 24 21:37:38 36m 56s Hello Ground ♥ 2 Amazing game! The rules are elegant, with room for strategy and a high skill ceiling. That's *really* impressive. The graphics and sounds/music are also well designed. The pacing is a bit fast in the beginning, but once I got used to it I was completely absorbed. I sometimes had trouble placing the tiles correctly (or at all), which is annoying when every split second counts. I have a feeling that I'll still be playing this game a few months from now :)
Aug 25 15:52:44 18h 15m Panic at the Haunted Hotel ♥ 1 Nice game. I like the idea that collecting chandeliers advances you towards your goal but also makes the game harder. I think making the whole area collapsible could've leveraged the theme more. Also, I ran into the walls way too often, which got a bit frustrating. Apart from that, well executed!
Aug 25 16:07:03 14m 19s Rajola ♥ 0 Great idea! Making large groups is difficult but very satisfying. I found it a bit odd that tiles don't fall down if those below them are removed.
Aug 26 10:37:29 18h 30m Shrinking Ceiling ♥ 1 I like the idea that the ceiling height carries over from level to level. However, it got frustrating having to repeat the whole thing once you fail. You could put checkpoints at ceiling-reset levels to prevent this to some degree. The aspect ratio you choose is really cool!
Aug 26 10:56:49 19m 20s Running Out of Space LDJ42 ♥ 1 Very clever idea! I enjoyed this, especially in the starting phase. I had trouble with the controls (jumping with right click is unintuitive to me) so the game got too fast for me too quickly. The music's great!
Aug 26 11:21:14 24m 25s Stepping Stones ♥ 1 Great entry! It's a simple idea, but very well executed and intuitive. The difficulty progression is solid (there's a bit of a jump in the last few levels, but nothing unmanageable). It's confusing that you can't actually walk on the last stage of the tiles, but apart from that, the graphics communicate the game state very clearly, which is important for a puzzle game. The sounds fit the aesthetic well; as does the lack of background music for that matter! Excited to see what comes from this.
Aug 26 14:29:02 3h 07m HITMAN: The Floor Is Lava ♥ 0 Good entry! It really feels like a hitman game despite the simple graphics. The challenges capitalized a bit too much on the fact that you can't see the whole level at once; I ended up making decisions I probably wouldn't have had I seen the whole picture beforehand. An undo feature might be nice, but I can see how that could take away from the spirit of the game. That said, the challenges are fun and getting shot is surprisingly juicy -- I would love to see some more levels!
Aug 26 18:31:37 4h 02m Get Comfortable ♥ 0 Amazing entry, everything about this is very well polished. Great job!
Aug 27 16:14:23 21h 42m Chadwick Cave Chronicles ♥ 3 I had a bit of trouble hitting some of the plants, it didn't let me position the ship correctly. The game also could've used a bit more juice (effects when destroying plants, some kind of animation while moving). I'm also not quite sure how the theme comes into play, although that's not a requirement. Nevertheless, nice entry overall! I especially enjoyed the music and lore. Definitely think about doing a post-jam, it could become something interesting.
Aug 27 16:34:47 20m 24s BlinkyWay ♥ 0 Interesting idea, I like the fact that the next stage is the box you zoom into. As some of the others here, I had issues with dying randomly, which is a bummer because I never got past level 7 or so. I'm also not quite sure what the power-ups are for, the stages seem quite manageable without them (at least the early ones). I liked the art and music direction. Given the aspect ratio, this could become a compelling mobile game!
Aug 27 16:54:59 20m 12s Shrunkeon Dungeon ♥ 0 Love the art style! It's very well executed. The camera should zoom out, though, you barely have any time to react to the enemies. Great entry!
Aug 28 18:23:19 25h 28m Don't mess up ♥ 1 Great puzzles, I really enjoyed them! The solution I thought of first was almost never correct ;) The graphics are very good as well. Nicely polished!
Aug 28 18:34:24 11m 05s Snake advanced ♥ 1 Nice little expansion for snake! I didn't have any problems with the controls as some of the the others here, but as you have said, people are different. Art-wise, the decision to add dots to the walls is great. It helps seeing the walls move.
Aug 28 19:13:36 39m 12s Oh no! The sky is falling and we are still fighting a ridiculous balloon battle! ♥ 1 I'm not entirely sure I got how to play this game correctly, but it sure was fun to shoot my buddy's balloons!
Aug 28 21:00:15 1h 46m TrackBlasters ♥ 1 Awesome game! I agree with most of the stuff the guys above me said. However, I really want to compliment you for your soundtrack -- *it's so awesome*. I immediately fell in love with it. Great entry!
