Aug 12 23:28:37 Lab ♥ 1 Interesting concept, and the atmosphere of the game is awesome. I did have a couple of problems with it: There is no way to tell where the exit may be, so most games start out going the wrong direction then loosing because of it; moving in a straight line is kind of annoying because you have to tab the key over and over, although I do understand that this is so that a wall doesn’t pop up in the player’s way; finally it is completely random if you win or not, whether or not you do go the right direction right off the bat. It could also benefit from sound during the game, the silent lab is kind of boring to move around in. I do like your sounds in the menu, even just including something like that each time the player moved would have been good. Great submission!
Aug 12 23:38:48 10m 11s Edge Of Space ♥ 1 Awesome graphics style, and a lot of fun to play. I really like the music and the feel of the game play. While some of the weapons didn’t do it for me, I really like how they all feel different. Cool twist on the theme that makes each round of game play stay short without making it too obvious. Overall really great submission.
Aug 12 23:46:43 7m 55s Running out of Keys ♥ 2 A very interesting take on a puzzle game. I quite like the concept of moving to the literal key that you press, and this game is a great execution of that. It did take me a little while to figure out that I could only move to the adjacent keys, and a couple of deaths to figure out to hit the keys in order; you may want to consider adding a tutorial to your games in the future. But it didn’t take all that long, and was really fun to play. I liked the sounds of moving around the keyboard. Good job overall.
Aug 12 23:54:14 7m 31s TightFloe ♥ 1 What a sad game. I thought that it was really well done, although the controls were a little confusing at first. It was incredibly difficult to keep track of the two babies and their needs and the disintegrating ice sheet. I liked your sounds, they added a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Well-done representation of the life of a penguin stuck on an iceberg.
Aug 13 00:01:37 7m 23s [Running Out of Spac] ♥ 0 Interesting little space shooter game. I really like the art for both the player ship and the enemies. The hardest part of the gameplay was how slowly the ship turns, it was often difficult to get lined up on the enemies to be able to shoot them down. I wish that holding down the fire button had kept the ship firing, even at a slower rate than spamming click, my finger was getting tired near the end. I think that this game would have benefited a lot from some sounds, it would have made it feel like a more real space. Good job with this game!
Aug 13 00:08:53 7m 16s Anatomically Drunk ♥ 1 Great game! It is hilarious to watch the little guy stumble around flailing wildly. I thought that the music was also really well suited to the game, a bit mellow. The one thing that tripped me up while playing was the fact that when the level changed my character was still wandering in the direction that he was on the previous one, causing me to immediately go off the ledge. Other than that this was a great Ludum Dare game and I had a lot of fun with it.
Aug 13 01:06:52 57m 59s Space Factory ♥ 1 I really like the look of this game, the planet looks awesome, and I love the effect of the space spinning around the planet when time is sped up. I think that the game could have used a little more introduction, as I now see you mentioned in your description, I wasn’t sure exactly what the point was while playing. I think that a bit more polish could make this a great fun game.
Aug 13 01:15:21 8m 29s Kitchen Nightmare ♥ 0 Nice little game. I really like the art style and music, they lend to the light playful theme amazingly. I did have trouble with the actual game, it was very difficult to tell what could be combined into food on the fly because there are so many ingredients and recipes. Which was the whole point I guess. I thought that managing the table and fridge was a lot of fun and felt good, so maybe something like a pause to look at recipes, or drag an ingredient to a cookbook to see everything you can combine with it would have helped me. I thought that this was a lot of fun to play, great entry.
Aug 13 01:20:39 5m 18s Too Many Boxes ♥ 1 I enjoyed this game, it was a lot of fun to play. The little moments of panic every time boxes started coming faster and the rush to stack them faster were great. I did find it a little difficult to pick up the boxes sometimes, it seemed like I was close enough but the box was still highlighted red. I quite liked the art style of the game, and the sound effects were good. It could have used some ambient sound to really pull me in. Great fun entry!
Aug 13 01:35:05 14m 26s Ludum Delivery ♥ 1 This game was surprisingly addicting. A great simple concept perfectly executed and with awesome graphics and sounds. It took me a while to figure out how to send the trucks away, maybe having an n-screen button to send them when ready would be helpful, but once I had it down the game flowed perfectly. I lived the sounds and animation for the trucks. It was a joy every time I managed to get a perfect truck. Well done!
Aug 13 01:46:06 11m 01s Anxiety ♥ 1 This game is a fantastic little mood study. I really liked the art style, how the character left footsteps behind, and the text constantly cluttering the blackness. I think that this perfectly exhibited the feeling of the world closing in on you and making it hard to focus and remember where you are or what is happening. This is a great little game, well done!
Aug 13 02:02:34 16m 28s backSpace-X ♥ 1 Fun space shooter! It took me a while to notice that I could upgrade and heal, but once I did I had a lot of fun with this game. It has great sounds, both background music and effects. I also really like the art, the asteroids look especially good. The upgrades to the ship feel like a good power increase, I could feel them as soon as they were active, and the enemies scaled up at a good rate to match. The only thing that I did not enjoy about the gameplay was that the hitbox on my ship sometimes felt like it was larger than the graphic, I sometimes got hit by something that I thought was going to miss me. This was a really fun game to play, great entry!
Aug 13 02:09:58 7m 24s Faceguy ♥ 2 Fun short game, it took me a while to notice that the walls got closer when the bullet hit them. I couldn’t figure out what the bombs did, even after figuring out how to drop them, but it was fun to play around dodging the bullet for a while. I did like the sounds that you had in the game. Overall very well done.
Aug 13 02:27:40 17m 42s Bloody Cell ♥ 0 Your links all seem to be broken, itch.io is saying that the page doesn't exist. I hope that gets fixed, I would love to play the game.
Aug 13 02:36:18 8m 38s Cup Space ♥ 0 Fun game with a very simple mechanic. As many people have mentioned, the optimal strategy seemed to be to just hit the spacebar as fast as possible, but that was fine as it was quite fun to watch the cups bounce around. I really liked your music and sound effects, they did a lot for the quality of the game, even if the cup falling off the table sound was playing almost constantly at the end. I thought that your art was quite good, although the loading screen with a face staring at me was a bit creepy. For a first attempt at a Ludum Dare game I would say that this was a fantastic entry. Well done!
Aug 13 03:01:23 25m 05s Countdown ♥ 1 Neat little concept game, I thought that it fit the theme very well. I liked how the hexes that the player character was on counted down faster, it felt like it was incentivizing me to run around as much as possible and not stay in one place. The only thing that I had trouble with was the movement controls, I couldn’t always tell where I was going to end up as sometimes when I pressed the key I barely moved and sometimes I shot around at hyper speeds. The jump was also difficult to figure out for the same reason. I love the simple art style of the shifting colored hexes, and that you had an option to set up your own. Having the countdowns on the hexes instead of just the colors was cool, it really increased the pressure of being near a tile. The music was fine, but the sound effects were all fantastic. I thought that this was a good, fun game to play.
Aug 13 03:10:55 9m 32s Running out of Space ♥ 1 This game was lots of fun, and surprised me by how into it I got. The beginning levels I was thinking that it was super easy and just a puzzle, but then the challenge started. I like that you had a bunch of different phases of the game, it made it a lot more fun to play. It took me a while to see the words on the side that were warning me about the changing challenge. I thought that the sound effects were quite good and perfectly fit the game, although I would have liked some background music of some sort. This was a very fun game, good job!
Aug 13 03:34:09 23m 14s Not Enough Space ♥ 0 Fun game, I really liked the art and physics of the character running around. I think that idea of having the inventory on top of the screen and getting in the way of the gameplay was fantastic. The music, while it did get a little repetitive, was pretty good, although I wish that there had been some sound effects for the guns and enemies. I liked that you could jump on top of the enemies heads when out of ammo, which for me happened a lot. My biggest complaint about the game would be that there weren’t enough drops, and especially not enough ammo drops. I spent my first five or so waves missing most shots with the revolver then having to jump around on heads for a while until another drop happened. That problem went away around when I got the Uzi, and from that point what I thought of as the real game, arranging my inventory to not be in the way, started in earnest. I thought that this was a really fun game, great submission!
Aug 13 03:39:31 5m 22s Butterfly Catching ♥ 2 Interesting little game. It was fun running around after butterflies, then remembering that the platforms were falling out from under me and quashing to patch them up. I thought that your gameplay was quite smooth and played well, although I never got all that worried about the lose condition, I was always able to keep one or two bridges to each platform. Maybe speeding up the decay? Fun game.
Aug 13 03:44:25 4m 54s Space Runner ♥ 1 @guilhermoni The link to your web build leads to a 404 page. Given that it is itch.io I would guess that the game's page just wasn't made public.
Aug 13 03:49:28 5m 03s Volka ♥ 2 This is a quite fun game, I really like the concept, and it fits the theme very well. It took me a while to figure out that I could stop moving and start aiming again, I spent a couple of minutes just launching at a wall. Maybe consider adding an in-game tutorial or instructions to your next game. Once I figured out that important mechanic I found this to be a very interesting game. I wanted to approach it like a puzzle, but the expanding ring stopped that. I really liked your sound effects, I think they fit the game quite well. Good job!
Aug 13 04:00:59 11m 31s Dark Forest ♥ 1 Really interesting scenery, and neat that it works in VR, but I don’t see any gameplay or connection to the theme.
Aug 13 04:02:44 1m 45s Claustro ♥ 1 @taimidori Your links to the game lead to the itch.io 404 page. I would guess that you didnt make the itch.io page public, because I did the same thing when I put my game up.
Aug 13 04:06:27 3m 43s SPACEFORCE! Funding Secured. ♥ 1 Fantastic game. I really loved your background audio, it fit the game really well. The animation of the walls coming in on me was also great, and almost seemed to be synched with the music. The player felt a little slow at first, but as the amount of space ran out it felt fine. Good entry!
Aug 13 04:11:09 4m 42s Running out of Space ♥ 5 Cool little puzzle-platformer. I loved your art style, especially when passing in front of the sun, and I thought that the gameplay of being able to move some parts of the map was really fun. It was cool that the blocks only moved under my control when they were onscreen, I had to go back at one point and get one that I thought was following me. I liked your audio design, I thought that it fit the game well. Overall really great submission.
Aug 13 04:17:11 6m 02s Emissary ♥ 1 Rather difficult game to play, it kept getting me that pressing and holding space didn't make me hover, i had to press it again. It was a little framey in the web build, but overall very fun to play and good sound design! Nice job.
Aug 13 04:23:36 6m 25s Words Dancer ♥ 1 Fun game, I like the ability to sit and think about my next move for a minute. I did have some trouble figuring out when I would be able to shoot again, I couldn’t find any pattern to it. I thought that your sound was great, both the music and sound effects. The art style was pretty good; some of the text on the main menu was a bit small, but once in-game everything was very readable and looked good. Great contribution to Ludum Dare!
Aug 13 04:31:27 7m 51s A Bunny's Tale ♥ 1 I like the twist on the theme! Your art is awesome, I really love the bunny, and the sound design is quite good. I liked the surprise twist when a little platformer suddenly turned into a click a button a bunch of times game, although I was a bit disappointed that the platforming didn’t come back after I sunk a bunch of time into upgrading the carrot generator. Fun little entry, good job!
Aug 13 04:38:35 7m 08s Zlinx ♥ 2 This is a really well done game. I really like the music, and while it is a simple interpretation of the theme I think that it really works well. The art is really well done and the game plays well, it is fun and smooth to jump up and around. The levels that I tried were just the right amount of challenging, and the instant restart made it not feel all that bad to fail and have to try again. Very well done, especially as a first Ludum Dare entry.
Aug 13 04:51:16 12m 41s shipme (Starbase Shipping Simulation) ♥ 1 This was a rather fun game. It took me a while to figure out that some trucks only took certain colors of box, but once I did it was a lot of fun. I really liked the sound design, both the background audio track and the sound effects were great and fit the theme well. I enjoyed the progression of trucks and docks. I did find some of the smaller boxes to be rather difficult to click on and towards the end was just letting them fall into the sun. I really appreciated the tutorial/story introduction at the beginning, this was one of the only games I have seen this Ludum Dare that has introduced the game so well. fantastic entry, great job!
Aug 14 01:45:31 20h 54m Petri Panic! ♥ 2 Nice entry! I love the art style and the music really lends itself to the overall game. This is a great concept for the Running Out of Space theme, I enjoyed watching the slime flow across the floor. It was also a cool idea to have it continue to grow in the bucket to the point where it could spill out to the floor while you carried it, that made the game a lot harder and more interesting. It does make me worry about the poor sanitation workers at the local sewage treatment plant though, what if the slime keeps growing? The one place the game felt lacking was the interaction with the world; while picking up the slime was fun for a while it quickly lost interest, almost as soon as I saw that it was a fundamentally impossible task based on how I started. I think that having some interaction beyond just walking over the slime could have made the gameplay perfect. It is overall a very fun game, and I enjoyed playing it. Nice job!
