| Aug 24 23:24:00 | Greetings, Human | I like games that function on their own internalized rules. Similar to Papers Please, learning the rules and applying them the game is good fun and a central component of the game. This one's short and sweet, and functions on a good idea. A lot of humor comes out of the absurdity of the interactions. <br/> <br/>Where it falls slightly short is in the repetition of the gameplay and the lack of animation, and the soundtrack is a little too short to be looped ad nauseam. <br/> <br/>Otherwise I think it's a neat idea, and a fun game. Impressed that it's a 48hr submission. | |
| Aug 24 23:29:00 | 5m 00s | Late for the Show | Nice idea, but the execution is a little short and awkward. The mechanic of searching 'under' 'in' and 'on top' things is limited by the fact that I could just mash the keyboard and get everything by hugging the edge of the room in a few seconds tops. I get the impression that this was a short, sweet game made for effect and I think it does that well. <br/> <br/>Concept-wise, panic-based games that get you pumped are great. I hope you keep up with these ideas and refine them into fun and more fleshed-out games in the future. |
| Aug 24 23:34:00 | 5m 00s | Orange Squiggles ...Beware! | This is essentially Snake remade. The 16kb filesize made me laugh, reminds me a lot of the heydays of computer programming. If you're going to go retro consider letting the font reflect that aesthetic; the music was fitting though. More broadly, remember that early games like Snake have been reproduced a lot. Think of ideas and mechanics that can bring new life to your game to make it unique. <br/> <br/>Nonetheless, good job! I notice you've been in LD for a while now with a varied profile of games, so just keep doing what you're doing! |
| Aug 24 23:38:00 | 4m 00s | Jörmungandr | I love the innovative idea of using the cylinder as the field of play in the game to create an ouroboros; brings the concept of Snake to a new light. Graphically, there could be some improvement, especially with the snake's head. I didn't note any increased difficulty and the health bar was too substantial to bring about challenge to the game, but nonetheless this works as a good idea in practice. Good job! |
| Aug 25 00:00:00 | 22m 00s | That One About Ducks and Prophecy | As a producer of duck-related content for this jam I was disappointed to find there wasn't an actual duck depicted in this game. <br/> <br/>Short text-based game, no real narrative. Just a maze and a duck that isn't really a duck. <br/> <br/>I think the looping effect back to the start from 'start the adventure' provides more confusion than it does meaning; presuming that was intentional. <br/> <br/>I liked the chat interface and think that idea could be explored quite well in the future. |
| Aug 25 00:23:00 | 23m 00s | Misunderstanding | Dialogue takes a little too long and is positioned oddly. Some doesn't fit in the window. There are typos ('Samatha!") <br/> <br/>The idea has potential but choice is not signalled well to the player. The mother is not depicted; neither is it obvious that walking off screen indicates you 'abduct' the child. This doesn't make the idea's execution come off well. <br/> <br/>Overall I don't think this has as much emotional depth or effect as others are saying, but at the same time the concept and effort put into the mall setting make this a creepy experience; which is a success - given what you're going for. |
| Aug 25 00:28:00 | 5m 00s | A Monster Is You! | Simple but engaging puzzle game. The basic logic behind the 'parents' worked well, it felt like you were indeed being chased. |
| Aug 25 05:55:00 | 5h 27m | Monstr (a dating website, but for monsters) | I don't mind the long text. Good variety of dating profiles, as you note relevant profile images would take up a lot of time but add to the humor of the game. The canned Twine structure is subverted a little by having (what I assume) to be randomised profiles). <br/> <br/>Come to think of it the mature or irreverent stuff is quite amusing. It is an adult monster site where everyone's looking for a one night stand, after all. |
| Aug 25 05:56:00 | 1m 00s | Sim Jong Un | I run this on a laptop and a message appears saying that the browser cannot allocate enough memory to WebGL to get it to run. Pity. |
| Aug 25 06:13:00 | 17m 00s | Lurker of the Night: Shamzalla | The effort put into the game is commendable. Very polished, clear interface, and lots of elements that add to the game such as voice acting. The visuals are really clear and well-done, making full use of the resolution provided. This is a very good game given the time constraints. <br/> <br/>The voice acting for the cute/passive-aggressive monster isn't my thing but is probably really appealing for a wide audience. Gameplay is a little clunkier on a laptop as it relies so much on switching between powers which is awkward using a touchpad and number keys. Minor interface issues include the cursor blocking the description of a power at the bottom of the screen. |
| Aug 25 06:19:00 | 6m 00s | Don't Crawl | Closely emulates the utter chaos experienced in early platformers, which is good. Nothing new for the genre, but it was enjoyable to play with a good variety of obstacles. Definitely challenging. I don't know how useful inclusion of multiplayer is, especially in the long-term; it may be a better pursuit to put more focus into the single-player experience. |
| Aug 25 06:23:00 | 4m 00s | You need a Hug | A fairly simple but moving game exploring time-honored themes of death and love, in this case, both at once. |
| Aug 25 06:26:00 | 3m 00s | Katrun | Very bare-bones. To improve the game think about how to increase challenge with new features or obstacles. Collecting the crystals wasn't well indicated and there was some delay in 'taking' them, which may confuse players. |
| Aug 25 06:29:00 | 3m 00s | $tupicl M@nst3r #004 | Failed to run, I have attached the error report below: <br/> <br/> <br/>___________________________________________ <br/>############################################################################################ <br/>FATAL ERROR in Vertex Shader compilation <br/>ShaderName: shd_filter <br/> <br/>D3DXCompile failed - result <br/> <br/>at gml_Script_scr_shd_filter <br/>############################################################################################ <br/>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br/>stack frame is <br/>gml_Script_scr_shd_filter (line 0) <br/>gml_Object_o_ShaderDrawer_Draw_64 |
| Aug 25 06:43:00 | 14m 00s | Cyclopean Clicker | The structure of this works well as a typical incremental game, though I think the genre itself has been overdone to the point that it's not easy to distinguish oneself despite the good theme and polished graphics. |
| Aug 25 06:44:00 | 1m 00s | Royal Flesh | Still getting a runtime error - it's a pity; it looks like you've put a lot of effort behind this one. |
| Aug 25 06:52:00 | 8m 00s | Should Have Worn Socks Today | Dress-up game touching on issues of body image? The short and sweet little concept games like this are few and far between and I enjoyed it. |
| Aug 25 06:59:00 | 7m 00s | Monster Tinder | Interesting because I've seen another very similar take on the theme this jam. This one has more emphasis on the different wild and wacky combinations of users; there's not much else to do. Maybe focusing on what monster dating profiles could be like is an idea of untapped potential? |
| Aug 25 07:02:00 | 3m 00s | Mon Mon Quest | Nice subversion of the monster RPG format; very fitting to the theme. Art could be improved but the overworld was pleasant enough. More variation in monsters rather than color palette change would be a strong area of improvement. Otherwise, nice work. |
| Aug 25 07:09:00 | 7m 00s | DIAL-NPC (Day in a life of a NPC) | Error on Win 10: "This app can't run on your PC." Compatibility may need to be a priority at this stage. |
| Aug 25 07:13:00 | 4m 00s | Monster Sheep | The graphics on this game are incredibly appealing for a accessible casual puzzle game. You clearly have good experience with 3D design and animation and the result is a delight to look at. Good work! |
| Aug 25 07:16:00 | 3m 00s | I Dream Of Big Boats - The Office Theft | Good if basic stealth concept; reminds me of the cubicle stage in Path of Neo a decade ago. The game on Unity was quite choppy in performance, though that could be an issue on my part. Good work! |
| Aug 25 10:54:00 | 3h 38m | Kidnapped | Edgy Roleplaying: The Game |
| Aug 25 11:06:00 | 12m 00s | Wolfman Kills World Peace with a Vampire Mech III | An accurate and evocative representation of the political complexities between North-South Korean relations in the past decade. |
| Aug 25 11:11:00 | 5m 00s | Prison Break | The handling is too fast and imprecise to function as a great space shooter, but all the graphical elements are done very well. |
| Aug 25 11:40:00 | 29m 00s | The monster is an human | Movement is excruciatingly slow even given the input lag problem. Not much motive to continue after getting the fourth upgrade. Music and sound effects would have added to the game. |
| Aug 25 11:46:00 | 6m 00s | God has a system | I like the 80s word processor aesthetic. I especially like games that encourage you to learn their own internalised logic, such as the 'God' code of this game. Learning the ropes was fun and kept play interesting for a while. Good job at doing so much with graphically so little assets. |
| Aug 25 12:00:00 | 14m 00s | Somethingmon Crash | The parallax effect was impressive and added visual depth to the game. The sheer momentum made slowing down seem impossible. As a general distance-based sort of casual game adding upgrades and milestones could be the way to go for this sort of idea; I haven't played the games you were originally inspired by. Good job! |
| Aug 25 12:06:00 | 6m 00s | The dumb Chicken | Even the chicken's internal monologue is full of mispronunciations and typos! I think that was what you were going for; I hope. Funny little text-based game. Would recommend on chicken alone. |
| Aug 25 12:08:00 | 2m 00s | Pokemoji | A little confusing, but I think I got the general hang of the rules within a couple of minutes. Nice variation; a lot of effort went into balancing the game and making cards. I don't really care for emojis. But that's ok. Good game! |
| Aug 25 12:11:00 | 3m 00s | Block It | This game relives nightmares in high school of geometry tests in maths class. Thanks for bringing that memory to the front of my mind. I will never be able to sleep again. <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Aug 25 12:13:00 | 2m 00s | This is NOT a scam! | Hey, if you guys want to access the secret levels in this game, just forward your SSN, credit card number, and home address to my email. I need these things to show you where the secret level is. Completely free. Not a scam: I promise. <br/> <br/>Nice game, though. Would recommend. |
| Aug 25 12:18:00 | 5m 00s | No Credit, No Problem! | Like others said, this is the Capitalist version of Papers, Please. Would recommend. |
| Aug 25 12:21:00 | 3m 00s | I May Have Misunderstood: RPG | This game reminds me of the historical re-enactment club my father's friend used to run. They'd dress up in chainmail and pretend to bash each other with steel weapons. I think someone even had to get an ambulance called for them once. <br/> <br/>Anyway, nice RPG. Would recommend. |
| Aug 25 12:22:00 | 1m 00s | The Peeler | I dunno, I'm sort of an apple person, so this game doesn't really speak to me as well as it could... |
| Aug 27 07:16:00 | 42h 54m | Slavery Simulator 2015 | There is good planning behind the mechanics and the genesis of a historically engaging strategy game here. Definitely would recommend, and hope you develop these ideas into a more comprehensive game. |
| Aug 27 07:27:00 | 11m 00s | Totem | Good ideas expressed through development, and appealing art style, but the game feels incomplete and there's no progression I can see as the player walks off the edge of the screen. |
| Aug 27 07:29:00 | 2m 00s | Global Thermonuclear War Simulator 1995 | 1995 was historically a very unlikely year for global thermonuclear war to have developed. This point is probably inimical to the quality of the game. |
| Aug 27 07:33:00 | 4m 00s | Rogue RPG | The twist is that the real monster in this game is RPG Maker. |
| Aug 27 07:35:00 | 2m 00s | Likentrope | Core game mechanics look like they're pretty balanced. Maybe adding art or detail to the cards may make this more distinct and unique as a game. Not all the card names lined up well with their actual effects. |
| Aug 27 07:38:00 | 3m 00s | Boom!Boom!Emoji | There aren't enough visually bizarre games. This is one of the few gems that will forever be cherished as a cornerstone of post-surrealist art. |
| Aug 27 07:40:00 | 2m 00s | PixelMonster | Pixels. What's there to say? For a game made in a few hours this is self-contained and works well. I think the mechanic is definitely worth developing into a more fleshed-out game. |
| Aug 27 07:41:00 | 1m 00s | Are you the monster | I'm going to go out on a limb on this one and say that yes, you absolutely are the monster. |
| Aug 27 07:44:00 | 3m 00s | Chainsaw Island | For an place called Chainsaw Island, the island is suspiciously lush with trees |
| Aug 27 07:46:00 | 2m 00s | Ev0L | Nice game, but I didn't see any connection with the 1986 Sonic Youth album, which was a big disappointment. |
| Sep 2 15:20:00 | 151h 34m | I'm a Monster Rawr! | So cute! Had a lot of fun. |
| Sep 2 15:25:00 | 5m 00s | Red Flaming Hood | I didn't expect that twist at the end! Nice work. |
| Sep 2 15:28:00 | 3m 00s | The Cauldron of Humanity | Pretty rough, but interesting. |
| Sep 2 15:30:00 | 2m 00s | Excremonsters! | N o i c e |
| Sep 2 15:36:00 | 6m 00s | Irksome Knight | Lots of fun! |
| Sep 8 03:58:00 | 132h 22m | Motherflipin' T-Rex! | Tyrannosaurus got #rext. Loved it. |
| Sep 9 09:43:00 | 29h 45m | Ogre Ball | Nice implementation of game mechanics. Obstacles or scorekeeping could be the next step in developing the game ideas. Generally I hate ogres so most of the gameplay for me was hitting the other ogre in the face with my victims. Satisfying. Would recommend. |
| Sep 9 09:52:00 | 9m 00s | Loopholes | Interesting concept and I love the time and effort you have put into the writing of this game. <br/> <br/>Grabbing the papers and moving them offscreen could be improved by simply moving them from the point they were grabbed by the cursor. <br/> <br/>Concept-wise it may not be a good idea to select the answer from a list as the writing easily leads into the solution without even looking at the details. Think about maybe implementing a mechanic where you select the clause and the feature on the bio to create a 'loophole'. <br/> <br/>Otherwise this was an interesting take on the theme and concept. Best of luck with all your future games! |
| Sep 9 09:59:00 | 7m 00s | Super Monstrous Monster Truck Cup! (2P only) | Some more time and effort put into this game and you've practically remade SNES Mario Kart, but with monsters. Like Nintendo on acid. |
| Sep 9 11:33:00 | 1h 34m | Vampire Legacy | I adore you. I have learned a lot from your game, such as who I can marry and who I can NOT marry. It has been educational. <br/> <br/>Thank you. |
| Sep 9 11:35:00 | 2m 00s | Veggie Defense | This is the multiplayer experience that I have been waiting for all of my life. |
| Sep 9 11:52:00 | 17m 00s | Minotaur | Instead of making them pay, why can't I make them... <br/> <br/>... pray? #stopviolenceinvideogames |
| Sep 9 12:01:00 | 9m 00s | Demon Dash | Good work guys! |
| Sep 9 12:06:00 | 5m 00s | Cucumis Love | Cucumis love, cucumis life. |
| Sep 9 12:14:00 | 8m 00s | The Migrant Crisis | I may be able to Grexit this game, but migrants can not Grexit the difficult situation they face in leaving their country. |
| Sep 9 12:19:00 | 5m 00s | Tonald Drump 2k16 | Gun fame. |
| Sep 9 12:33:00 | 14m 00s | Scream Hunter | Faithful rendition of Monsters Inc. |
| Sep 9 12:47:00 | 14m 00s | Wild Flirting | Nice game, but I'm more of a Digimon, Digital Monsters fan myself. |
| Sep 14 09:11:00 | 116h 24m | Death Mettle | Cool aesthetics bro |
| Sep 14 09:15:00 | 4m 00s | Death Maze | More game features could make this unique. Good demonstration of programming nonetheless if this is a beginner's entry. Hope you guys continue to make games in the Jam! |
| Sep 14 09:20:00 | 5m 00s | Sex monster | This game made me throw up three liters of gastric fluid so I'm going to give it a 'three' on that basis. |
| Sep 14 09:25:00 | 5m 00s | 2004: Back in Iraq | A charming and nostalgic game about the beauty of love and the purity of marital relationships. I am forwarding this game to the Catholic Church to see if we can distribute this in missionary schools across the world. <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 09:30:00 | 5m 00s | Lairkeeper | A fascinating game about architecture and the structural features of labyrinthine mazes. |
| Sep 14 09:33:00 | 3m 00s | Robo-Pilot: Monster Smash | QWhat |
| Sep 14 09:39:00 | 6m 00s | Westboro Binge | An accurate representation of the plight of same-sex oriented persons in finding acceptance in wider society. |
| Sep 14 09:51:00 | 12m 00s | Sir Uthyr and Nemea | "And that night, on this barren knoll, the ghosts of RPG Maker rose once again to wreak havoc upon the world and cause pestilence and destruction in their wake." <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 09:54:00 | 3m 00s | Devil's Avocado | Reminds me a little of Populous. Nice strategy format. With some more polish and clearer direction this could be really solid. Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 09:55:00 | 1m 00s | MAN - SPIDER | This game does for arachnid conservation what Gorillas in the Mist did for primates. <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 10:01:00 | 6m 00s | Vamp Tramp | Good game, but there is a bug in which the options selected when the game over screen is reached don't come back when you start a new game. Great, humorous dialogue though. |
| Sep 14 10:03:00 | 2m 00s | Mr. Goldberg | A troubling exercise in subversive anti-semitism. <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 10:06:00 | 3m 00s | Killer Librarian: Vengeance | Nice to see another developer using the LOVE platform! Interesting mechanics including the use of a dynamic health 'bar' to make the game more seamless. Limiting the projectile weapons might make the game more challenging. Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 10:31:00 | 25m 00s | The Hunt | The idea of multiple views needed to track the 'prey' was good but the pace was a little too fast to really feel close a lot of the time. Increasing levels of speed or different difficulties could work. All in all, an immersive and atmospheric game. |
| Sep 14 10:34:00 | 3m 00s | We Missed You! | Grand Theft Auto: USPS |
| Sep 14 10:37:00 | 3m 00s | Fiskarens fiende | A whale of a time. |
| Sep 14 10:40:00 | 3m 00s | Brood | Overall a release-quality game with polished execution; the graphics and animation of the monster is especially impressive. Some more BG music would have added a lot to the experience, but regardless an excellent effort. Would recommend! |
| Sep 14 10:47:00 | 7m 00s | Tentacles | Tentacles are, without exception, a fun and essential game mechanic to any game they feature in. |
| Sep 14 10:51:00 | 4m 00s | Goomba Simulator 2015 | A gripping rendition of the tyranny and social stigma endured globally by the marginalised Goombas. I pray for all the Goombas of this world to emancipate themselves from the chains of oppression. <br/> <br/>Would reccommend. |
| Sep 14 10:54:00 | 3m 00s | You Are the Monster | You Are The Endless Clicker |
| Sep 14 10:57:00 | 3m 00s | Alien Murder Simulator | Solid stealth mechanics. Best feature is dragging the corpses of the slain to avoid detection. Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 11:00:00 | 3m 00s | Bridge Troll | I personally prefer cave and dungeon trolls, but bridge trolls are acceptable enough. Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 11:09:00 | 9m 00s | Pock_Suckit | A chilling game about the repercussions of demonic sock possession. Take heed, world, take heed. |
| Sep 14 11:13:00 | 4m 00s | i Have a Choise | "Why do so many of these games have rape?" <br/> <br/>- A friend, 2015 |
| Sep 14 11:18:00 | 5m 00s | House of Stairs | Though a surreal Escher-like exercise, there isn't much to this game beyond the visual splendor. |
| Sep 14 11:25:00 | 7m 00s | Gelan's Quest | Nice to see use of LOVE in an adventure game format. A mature and emotional game relevant to the present issue of refugees. All in all a polished and tense adventure game experience with a lot of narrative content for a jam game. <br/> <br/>Would recommend. |
| Sep 14 11:27:00 | 2m 00s | Humon | ayy lmao / 10 |
| Sep 14 11:31:00 | 4m 00s | Obamapology: Term 2 | This game's design is so good it deserves an endorsement from Congress. |
| Sep 14 11:33:00 | 2m 00s | Money Monster Millionaire | This game stares into the soul of man and offers challenging and deep moral choices that delve into the philosophical heart of capitalism, and what it means to live in a for-profit society. Would recommend. |
