LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Wicked Wilds by peringo 2022-04-17T19:06:03Z

This game is absolutely fantastic. How you managed to put this all in over 72 hours amazes me. The game is polished and pretty, the artstyle is beautiful, the daytime music is lovely and the nighttime music is creepy. The "Don't Starve"-esque gameplay loop is wonderful and the threat of the monsters were genuinely scary. Great game all around!

RogueTime by shared 2022-04-19T21:43:10Z

Idea and concept are brilliant. The Roguelitey aspect of the game is really interesting. I just think the moment to moment needed to be a bit more tight (less floaty jump, more interesting enemies and shooting could be a bit more interesting) and the difficulty could be a little higher, maybe less free items, but overall a really cool game jam entry!

Interesting game. It's quite difficult and I think the difficulty curve could be a bit more flat but still fun overall. I wish I had paid more attention to the "grab" mechanic, the game would have been easier that way. But it had great VFX, a great concept and y'all should be proud!

Fun game. The "lose hp to squeeze through gaps" mechanic is really interesting and I think the controls are brilliant (they're intentionally slippery so that movement becomes much more difficult). I enjoyed this PICO-8 Entry.

Fool's Gold by CharlesSchar 2022-04-19T00:01:32Z

The mechanics and the puzzle-like aspect are great! All that are really needed are some upgraded graphics and SFX and this would be wonderful! Also maybe some more difficult levels, I was enjoying myself and want some more stuff to play with :)

Well made short and sweet platformer! Enjoyed it! (also the concept is hilarious)

Defend 'till the end by kjscott 2022-04-17T18:39:48Z

The game fits the theme really well with great VFX and spritework and an interesting spin on the theme with a Space Invaders like gameplay but in a circular manner. Great controls too. It's not all that complex and doesn't have that much depth, but for a game jam game, this is a nice quick little journey.

@kjscott yeah music would add a lot to the game, although I think the vibe you get from no music is pretty unique. I think maybe a mechanic or two more could add a lot of depth, for example a second gun that rotates at a slower pace but pierces through asteroids or maybe allow the gun to build up momentum so it moves faster if it stays moving. Also I'd recommend adding a cooldown for the gun so that you can't just spam. But as you said, all these problems are just post-jam stuff.

Making a multiplayer Game Jam game is fascinating and it was brilliant that you guys were able to pull it off, congrats! Game is a little bit dull though, it goes too quick and the moment-to-moment isn't the most exciting. But all-in-all, a very ambitious project that y'all should be proud of!

Hydroponica by Cakestorm 2022-04-06T20:53:41Z

This is a really fun and unique type of game and creates a very interesting set of problems for a player to solve. Do you block the plants? do you let them run wild and kill your Carbon? Do you intentionally use the machines to disrupt the plants and what's the best strategy to keep your O2 and Carbon level? There is a ton of depth for a Game Jam submission and it's fascinating (also the VFX is wonderful and the music is nice and soothing.)

Minus a few points for needing the player to repeatedly click the mouse (that got annoying quick), navigating the menu for the blocks was tedious and felt very inconsistent at times, and the background of the itch.io submission and the game made me click off the screen a few times accidentally which was a bit annoying. All of those are easy fixes though and with 72 hours, you can only do so much.

Great game!

Really fun game jam game! Cute and fun, simple and entertaining. Fits the theme perfectly too! Great job!

Into the Depths by TheGameOverGuy 2022-04-17T19:53:18Z

The game is really fun and stressful in a way that aren't common in game jam entries. Every torch and blue mushroom felt like a huge victory as you found your way through the labyrinths. My only recommendations would be to win the game immediately after getting 20 mushrooms rather than the exit after collecting said 20 mushrooms and to add multiple exits to each level so players have more freedom to explore. Fun game!

The End of the Road by quadcoder 2022-04-19T21:20:27Z

Good game. Could use a bit more variety in gameplay and the moment-to-momentum isn't super exciting but for a game jam this totally works.

Galactic Crash by Zerox 2022-04-17T19:24:14Z

The crew (insert unfunny among us joke here) who made this game should be really proud. I always appreciated the tasks in Among Us as fun moment-to-moment gameplay that always kept the player involved, sort of like Warioware minigames. This game captured that feeling really vividly.
