LD36 — Ancient Technology

Ancient Vault by Moeilijk 2016-08-30T07:40:00

Nicely done! This game is what you would expect from a great Ludum Dare entry: the scope is reasonable and the idea is well executed. I have seen many "door puzzle games" and they usually all look the same. This one really stands out with a great visual style and properly selected ambient music.
More puzzles would be more than welcome!

Spectacular Stride Machine by Garfeild 2016-09-01T00:02:00

Congratulations to team KAMAN for delivering a beautifully designed game with nice aesthetics and sound design. I am glad to see another entry with a style similar to mine, and in 2D! The difficulty of the game is well balanced, making it enjoyable for more than a few minutes. Providing more visual feedback to the player, such as "steam jetpacks", along with appropriate sound when jumping would probably make it more immersive and complete. Overall, excellent entry!

Helepolis : Make It To the Siege by olkeencole 2016-08-30T05:57:00

Wow! Action-packed and full of neat details. You did a really good job :)
Others are right about this, you need to make a mobile version (with gyroscope controls, if possible).
The music successfully sets the tone for an intense and hectic ride, which would be appropriately complemented with characters running around in circles instead of standing idle, as well as volcanic ashes or other elements falling from the sky. I am looking forward to see this game expand further on!

Ancient Mystery by ccegeadamcc 2016-09-01T01:59:00

This is the kind of game that I was hoping would be created when the theme was announced. Not only did you deliver a beautiful-looking game in the first-person exploration genre, you also managed to make the game feel quite mysterious, as if no matter how long someone would play it, there would always be some secrets left uncovered. Great job overall, I would like to see this game be developed further!

Kukulkan's Phantom by CMangas 2016-09-01T02:14:00

Truly amazing game. The art style and execution is phenomenal. It reminds me of similar games you could play on your TV in the early 2000's. What striked me is how well you managed to both nail the big picture as well as the details. If you wanted to conquer the hearts of all retro gamers, you could add an option to change the graphics style (or colors) to VGA graphics and others! Very well done. I am looking forward to see more content from you guys!

Egyptian God by MyIsaak 2016-08-30T05:36:00

This game shows a lot of potential for what could become a great construction management simulator. The mechanics implemented are quite original and enjoyable. If you haven't considered continuing development on this game, I think you should. Maybe add more building types so that we could build a city in the desert? Whatever you decide to do with this, let us know!

God's Tech by Marta Viader 2016-08-30T03:32:00

Congrats to you Marta and your team for creating such a fun game. I would like to see you push this concept even further! More planets, more creatures types, and even more interactivity options would definitely make this a game people could spend a lot of time playing. I wish you good luck for your entry!

Backwoods Culinary Basics by skreeb 2016-09-01T00:14:00

Nice work skreeb! You have created a very relaxing environment in which it is quite pleasing to mix ingredients and enjoy a good meal. I really wanted to start moving and explore the surroundings to find more resources! There are a lot of cooking games out there, but I really feel like this one is unique and would have the potential to become a full-fledged cooking series with various environments, contexts, and even characters. I am looking forward to see more of this!

Spear the sun by lightsoda 2016-08-30T06:55:00

Excellent game!
I have played similar games in the past and I must say that this one has exceeded my expectations. The execution is solid and the mechanic feels good. The visual style is fantastic as well. Overall, this is a well-rounded and well-balanced entry that is very enjoyable. I am looking forward to play the sequel!

Forty Two by Diptoman 2016-09-01T01:08:00

This is the kind of puzzle solving game we need more of! Just when you think everything is too easy and you can simply place pieces without too much intellectual involvement, the game reminds you that you have to plan ahead properly. Nicely executed, fits with the theme, well-balanced, and provides the proper usage options such as restart and move speed. Congratulations on delivering a complete puzzle experience!

Ancient Link by Ixeno 2016-08-30T04:24:00

Once again Ixeno is back with some cubic goodness and this time he suprises us with a nice set of challenging mechanics. The execution is great and the game runs flawlessly. Hopefully we can get a mobile port to play on the go!

MummyDrop by SketchyGalore 2016-08-30T06:09:00

A simple and surprisingly pleasant game. The increasing level of difficulty makes this a well balanced entry that was designed with care. Extra levels or a sequel would be very much welcome!

Traanimus by ianb96 2016-09-02T18:17:00

Gamers are always looking for new innovative first-person shooters and I believe this is one of them. An interesting concept, a great game mechanic, and a proper underground/dungeon style & level design makes this a solid submission.

For future improvements, it is always appreciated to be given the option for a run and jump button. Some subtle animations for the weapon also adds a lot to the overall experience. Looking forward to see an improved version in the future!

Keyboard commando by psilon 2016-09-01T01:41:00

A keyboard only FPS? I'm in!
The last time I have played one was a long time ago, and I am sure that it brought back great memories for others just like it did for me. The art style is minimalistic and works perfectly fine with your objective to make it feel like a Wolfenstein game. Such retro-styled games are coming back strong in demand, so with more polish this game could be a hit!

Pigtraptions by HawkSandwich 2016-08-30T06:23:00

Understanding how each part interact with each others is not as intuitive as it could be, but this could easily be fixed with a tutorial. Then, I have no doubt hours of fun would ensue :)

Disgolem by ocarson 2016-08-30T07:50:00

Rad game! Loving the vibe!
When I saw the thumbnail I knew right away that I was in for some robotic goodness. I was not disappointed :)
The game looks and feels really good. Because of the format, it looks like it was originally designed for mobile, but the experience is good in the web browser nonetheless. Once again, fantastic aesthetics, and a totally unique gameplay!

SMASH BASH: Sukhov vs Zombies by SMASH BASH 2016-09-01T01:26:00

Congrats to Smash Bash team for making an excellent game featuring such an extensive environment in so little time. Right away, the player can appreciate the great art, the good gameplay, as well as the nice level design. I would have liked to see variations in enemies, sound effects, and properly placed speech bubbles. My only disappointment was that the game ended abruptly after the "weapon" was repaired. Otherwise, this is a fantastic submission overall. I wish the development team a lot of fun and success in developing this game!

Video Telefaxer 570X by Hammers 2016-08-30T07:13:00

Beautiful retro aesthetics!
Amazing sound design!
Never would I have thought that sending a fax could be fun :)
I really appreciated the detail that was put into making the whole environment interactive. I would very much like to see this become a series of games about retro appliances.
Congratulations for this great idea and excellent execution!

Tomb Robbers by facelesstheone 2016-09-02T17:53:00

Truly incredible. This game is so simple, yet so fun to play! It is especially satisfying to wipe out an entire row of enemies in one click. The learning curve was on point. I was also pleasantly surprised that the game did not end when the first enemy touched the sarcophagus. When my first game ended, I immediately wanted to play again.

Overall, this is one of the most fun games I have played at LD36. I just wished you had included music and sound effects!

Pyramid Breaker by DifferentName 2016-08-30T05:30:00

Nice Art Direction! I believe you have set a strong base for what could very well become a game we could see soon on Steam, Android or iOS. My suggestion would be to add more levels (with different backgrounds and blocks designs), more scarabs sizes and colors (with unique properties) and enable users to submit their score to a worldwide leaderboard. Make sure to keep us updated with the development of your game!

AnSynth Technology by xclementx 2016-08-30T06:31:00

Ancient technology? Check.
Cheesy puns? Check.
Awesome sounds and easy to use? Check.

This one is going in my favourites!

Ancient Acquisition (of cash money) by Darkfrost 2016-08-30T08:01:00

There are a lot of button clicking games out there, and I must say that this one is by far the best one I have played. The button SFX sounds good. Particles are a nice touch and look great. Visual style and design is nicely done. Everything is well-balanced overall. Great entry Jacob!

Reinvent the Wheel by ratly 2016-08-30T06:48:00

Amazing concept! The game is really enjoyable and as svyatozar mentioned, it would be great to be able to play multiple times without having the first part being the same every time. I would definitely like to see a full version of this game being released soon with more wheels shapes and level variations. Hopefully we could get a mobile port as well!
