Hey Justin! Thanks for the comment! Very glad you like it, we were rather proud of this :). Keep your eyes peeled for our submission for LD40-Jam somewhere in the next errr.... probably within 18 hours?
I've always enjoyed the "eat to get bigger" style games so this was fun. As has been mentioned controls were a bit floaty but otherwise nice job!
Completed it first time so short but I enjoyed this. Puzzle games in short amounts of time can be tricky, but as a first level of something that builds on this I can see that becoming a very fun little game.
Interesting interpretation of the theme, certainly works better than many.
Not certain if it was intentional but the feel reminded me very much of the stereotypical pseudo 1960's communism feel of games like Papers Please. The colour theme, the background music, the whole idea of modern life being in a cramped little flat (though that is true of today too in many locals).
So in short, yea, nice :)
Feel free to swing by our game if ya get the chance!
Interesting..... a lot of work for a one man band so well done on that.
Would really like to see where this goes with more time and more levels to start understanding the concepts you had behind this a bit more.
On the plus side I seem to have good comedic timing? Though I'm not sure how I managed this :V
Howdy!
Firstly - I did the art on our game after our artist dropped - and it was naff compared to what you've managed on top of putting a game together by yourself, so NICE ONE!
This really seems like a fun little game and I like the interpretation of the theme. I've not been very good at "classic" platformers for..... a while now heh so honestly I've sucked at playing this.
I found one slightly game breaking bug (which was probably just me being crap) where in the area just after the first check point if you manage, with great skill, to NOT kill the stars as you fall, they can punt you against the far wall and get you stuck just bashing against.... something? Off of the screen. With no game over or return to checkpoint, just infinite collision noises.
But regardless, great game, specially for a one man band :)
If you get a mo if you could swing by our game that'd be great :D
Great concept! But as others have parroted a pretty damn tricky game (not that I can talk :D).
At first I thought the green bits on the bottom must be what needed collecting but.... yea I realised that was a derp after a bit :V
Really like the concept of it, seemed pretty unique. Controls were maybe a touch too sharp by default? But you had a sensitivity slider so that helped :)
Hi there,
I enjoyed this, fun little game. Very nice graphics, haven't even tried pixel art myself but then I'm no artist. Soundtrack was nice too.
In the south area I had a little trouble getting across the horizontal bridges - seemed rather narrow that way?
In the north area seemed you may want some sort of mechanic to reduce the players attack range as fighting there was trivial considering the enemies paved straight towards you and inevitably just loitered just within your weapons range.
Although at first it irked me I actually kinda liked only the up and down attacks by the end. Gave the combat a strange almost jousting-like flow...
Idle wonder - are you guys familiar with Yume-Dream by Rosalarian?
But yes, nice little game. If you get a chance to swing by ours for some ratings that would be appreciated :)
Nice concept but I must say there seemed to be literally invisible walls that impeded my progress, that was frustrating. Also without going particularly slowly I just barrelled along the landscape in the direction I felt like I was kind being forced to go which is to say path of least resistancey and made it home first time. If its semi randomised maybe that was just luck?
Great concept, think you could make something really interesting using this idea of the music itself being the guide as it were. And hell, anything a bit post-apocy tends to be a laugh. And very good bit of work for a one man band!
Howdy ho,
Fun little game. My one main complaint of IJKL you've already addressed, but yea, otherwise this is a fun little game. I was stupid and didn't read about it first so it was MILDLY confusing what was going on at first - but the graphics being good enough I guessed rather shortly heh.
For a comp entry - very nice :)
For those of you who want to know more about the game but don't necessarily have the time to play more, or just like spoilers - there is now a link up above that answers such questions as how exactly the game ramps up further and what the Left Mouse Button can maybe do~
Nice take on sheepdogs etc. I did a bit better than @alext-design by the sounds but after spending a minute just trying to get all of level 2's sheep out of the field again..... I was ready to table flip. Certainly worse the more you had thats for sure.
I think I may have RSI now :(
That was an interesting submission... I can't honestly say it was particularly FUN specifically but as a social commentary its pretty effective. Add to that I liked the mechanic of the scenery and music building up as you made money, that money symbol ticking up, the commentary implying oooh yay money for you, meanwhile you being able to do nothing with it and the factory getting bigger and bigger...
I would honestly have liked some sorta thing to happen when you DO stop working but nothing seemed to. It would either enforce the commentary with a get back to work! or maybe give closure if you're offed for no longer being of use.
Or am I just getting too dark now?
Nice game, very Papers, Please feel to it but with a nice spin. Nothing I didn't enjoy about it though it could ahve done with something a little more tutorially than the first day was I felt, but c'est la vie when you're making a game in limited time!
Well, that was pretty good. You actually touched upon a similar topic to my team heh.
I lost both play throughs I did. The first one quite fast, the second one I was battling the second and 3rd stages for about 15 minutes It was pretty gruelling. And just as I got the second one patched the 3rd killed me. A touch frustrating.
The graphics though simple worked for me. Also the colours I felt were actually pretty spot on for the feel I THINK you were going for. That SAID the bar on the right got me hit more than I needed to be, that whole bar could probably have been considerably thinner and served its purpose - unless it making play mote difficult to the right was actually intentional.
The soundtrack I though worked really well. It had a sense of urgency, which could maybe have been built on a touch more by the narrative - I didn't even realise you were slowly losing if you weren't getting orbs OR hit till half way through my second play.
Theme... I honestly didn't really pick up on any game mechanics that supported the theme specifically. I did wonder at one point if the number of sharps were actually increasing slowly based on the number of orbs I'd collected but I didn't come to any conclusion on that. There were marginally more sharps the deeper you went it seemed and yep, that did make it worse.
Over all I enjoyed it BUT by the second death I was hungering for something to mix up the mechanics a little. Whether it be a different kind of sharp, a slightly different task to go from repairing the holes to curing the sharps, I dunno. BUT - ALL that said - that you got all this done by yourself? Nice achievement dude, VERY nice. :)
I'm a bit confused by this game honestly.
Firstly I start with two cats with F next tot hem, I ASSUME this meant Female. So I didn't really expect to get more cats. And it would turn out I'd be right as both cats refused to eat anything.
So, I try again. Again two F cats. This time however one DOES eat and promptly spits out two kittens. OK so I guess they're pregnant when the old man takes them home? Anyway. This turns out to be the one time any cat WILL eat. Food is lying around all over but they just WANT TO DIE!
Ah I see you mentioning above about the deviation bug. I guess thats this.
The sound effects were amusing however and you have what should be a fun little concept if you stamp out the deviation bug.
Interesting little game. Like how you have to charge each shot, adds an element of tactics and makes you think about how you're gonna shoot. Pop on over and give ours a look and rate if you get the chance :)
I like the idea. However going down into the left pit early on basically meant I was stuck in a very limited area for a long time... with not really much happening. The graphics were very good though i thought.
Thanks very much for the great comments both @owl-and-jackalope and @chaosed0! Completely agree with everything you've said, @nathan has pretty much covered everything i would have said in reply though so I won't babble on for the sake of bankinbabbling!
Haha I'm really rather bad at this! This is fun but quite hard.
Controls were a little weird but I probably got there? Although dark this definitely had some humor too it too. Overall a fun entry :)
