Cute game, I enjoyed it! I hope square hole lady has found piece...

geeni 2026-04-21 18:20

The area based scoring system is very clever! Got me twice with it, first when I tested why i would not just use square hole for everything and then again when i realized that also applies if i only partially catch a shape. Game design just connected so nicely.

I demand a score!)

breadstick 2026-04-21 18:54

For the true immersive experience, you should try playing without the Q and E keys so that every shape goes into the square hole :')

kremlebot 2026-04-21 18:57

The game is unbalanced and impossible to play.

kazuren 2026-04-21 19:08

@kremlebot sorry that that was your experience :( can you expand a bit more on what made it unbalanced and impossible to play? I tried to make it challenging but also fair

kremlebot 2026-04-21 19:12

I couldn't move the pieces quickly, even if I held down Shift.

kotovnav 2026-04-21 19:13

It was a bit too complicated at the end, but overall the idea was great.

drydiamond 2026-04-22 10:15

A bit unbalanced since I can fit every forms in the square...oh wait!

soul-grinder 2026-04-22 21:53

Nice idea for the jam, would of been funny to hear them getting upset the more the wrong shapes fit

firefish 2026-04-23 04:48

Hahahaha this totally reminds me of that meme where you can put every shaped block into the square hole. Such a fun concept!

I was thinking it could be really fun to add some extra music or maybe a narrator. Like, imagine having a character trying to guide you to use the correct matching holes, but they just absolutely lose their mind when you keep putting everything into the square hole hahahaha.

Anyway, great job!

oradimi 2026-04-23 14:19

It is funny you can just survive eternally using only the square hole. I like the presentation, well done!

nikiprot 2026-04-23 17:03

the movement is a little slow also i love the square hole

illiteratelexicon 2026-04-23 23:54

fun! i like the mechanics though was unaware how to switch to other shapes for a moment. Good job on making a game ^^

timo5034 2026-04-24 17:11

This idea is genius! It's really addicting and it feels so good to catch a shape barely in time! Only the button mapping can feel a bit unfair (when you have to move left and press q to change the shape. Maybe the arrow keys could have been used to cycle through the shapes?

I LOVE THIS GAME! I was smiling from ear to ear by the time the first cube fell. I absolutely suck at the game, but I still had so much fun! You nailed humor for sure, this is the only 5 I've given in humor, and I love that the points system focuses on what percentage of the falling shape you catch- I didn't notice that until I started reading comments, but as soon as that clicked for me it made the game even more fun since it wasn't a typical all-or-nothing strategy for giving points. Well made! Only recommendation would be to better set the player up for playing the game- either more well spelled out instructions or an explanation of goal and process. This game rocks!

shadow64 2026-04-25 09:45

Nicely done! Getting the shapes into place and rotating them/swapping was really challenging. I was able to stay alive for about 6 minutes (5:55) and the music got really intense. The visuals corrupting was also very effective!

I did make the joke of "Can I put everything in the square hole???" But I was so out of it, I didn't even realize that it's totally the meme until I was almost done.

Nice work and thanks for playing and commenting on Please Press Button! I'm glad you had a good time!

Nice feel to play... I feel you should've kept the speed boost as the default and maybe had shift be slower movement, right now I just held it down permanently since I needed to get close to the other side of the map where the next shape was falling. Yeah maybe that would be nicer if they didn't fall completely randomly (which I assume they do now), maybe in a radius following a slow moving target so I could still catch up.

lohii 2026-04-27 14:54

The title screen has really nice cutesy-retro feeling that really spoke to me. However, the gameplay didn't mesh with me much. The speed was at a frustrating pace where I felt that the pieces I ended up missing weren't really at spots I could even possibly reach, whether it was true. Also the pace which highly correct placings gave you back health was way too generous, having the runs last multiple minutes without really a sign if it was ever gonna end soured the experience for me somewhat. I feel its important to leave the players wanting rather than wishing it was over.

kazuren 2026-04-27 15:02

@murumart @lohii thank you, that's really good feedback! I'll keep those in mind for next time.

wouter52 2026-04-30 17:39

Haah! Is this referencing the meme with the tester and the developer-lady? Loved the game, it was fun to play. Some on-screen instructions about the controls would have been great. Now I had to go to check the submission page to actually figure out Q and E were for changing shape

block97 2026-04-30 19:36

There was quite a bit of polish to the game that made it feel satisfying to play, I really liked the way that you can get partial matching of the shapes and the little visual you score points. Awesome job!

rend 2026-05-03 17:39

It's unexpectedly addictive but the difficulty ramps up a bit fast. The default velocity might be a bit slow but the % of completion is a good design choice, you never feel like you really missed a shaped. A simple but solid entry, good job!

colverok 2026-05-05 21:15

I liked the interesting idea and the good execution! It was a bit of a challenge to keep up, but it was fun!
