@janinna21 Hehe thank you! :D Now that you mention it I can see that, thanks for the tip!
As soon as I saw Miku I just HAD to click it She looks very cute in your artstyle and the music is very pleasant, I could keep listening to it for hours I love the sketchy look of the dialog box and the rest of the background, it really helps with the feel of the time period! I had trouble understanding who told the truth and who didn't, but being tired probably didn't help
I like the sketchy artstyle in the scenes with the main character and the corrupted file character towards the end looked SPECTACULAR It was really creative how you made the majority of the game on a desktop environment as well as the overall theme and its execution, with the glitchy files and text, although it was unfortunately hard at times to make sense of the text due to the distortion Oh and I died laughing at the scene with the first glitch haha All in all it has a lot of character and it won me over, good job!
I really liked the distortion effect and the gradual changing audio and graphics, especially of the trees. I screamed every time something was chasing me lol, made the protagonist's agony my own I read someone had difficulty finding the items, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case for me at all Great job
Hey unfortunately this doesn't work! I get this error message: "There should be 'Another Day at the 9-5_Data' folder next to the executable" when I try to open the Another Day At The 9-5.exe Hope you have time to fix it!
The cover art is SPECTACULAR, I adore the way you drew the characters and their expressions I also love the way you drew the intro scene like a comic, I've never seen that before anywhere else (although the text was a tad bit hard to make out) About the rest now, it took me some time to understand how the game worked and how I was winning or losing. I'd also appreciate it if there was more to the gameplay, as there wasn't much to actually do The visuals are the strong suit of the game, the rest could use some work, but they look fantastic and feel very unique, especially for a game, so great work on that:) I read this is your first time working on a game, I hope it will be the start of a bigger journey, since I feel like you could bring a breath of fresh air!
The sound effects when you hit the enemies were funny and I like the texture of their models and the masks! However the movement felt a bit weird- it was like I couldn't understand where my player ended and the floor began, if that makes sense. Also there wasn't something that advanced and ended the game, except if I missed something
I like ignoring instructions, so I tried to play it nonetheless. Alas, it was predictably not working 😔 Good job for trying anyway, best of luck with the rest of it! The title aka ghost theme drew me in, I'd like to see it
I always love me a dating sim and text-only games, so this is a very nice combination for me. Fun! I hadn't thought about it, but after reading it, I agree with Luumi's comment, one of my favorite things about stories/text-only games is the way they leave many things to the imagination. Also, altough it's just a personal preference of mine, something to think about is to perhaps not mention the contestant's gender, or alternatively allow the user to choose it (if Twine allows it and you don't rely entirely on this info for their responses). Realistically I was probably stuck with Mark but Layla seemed so cool... hahaha
Where do I even begin! The game was GREAT! I very well believe it's between the games deserving to win. "Welcome to the “Signal :D” project, the most awkward, lowest-budget, yet perhaps most important diplomatic department in the entire galaxy." - You already got me there haha. I've never played a game using face reconginition before, let alone leveraging it to communicate with aliens! It's crazy how you managed to implement such an imaginative- both in technology used and theme- and well-done game in such a little amount of time, congratulations. I also LOVED Vera, sassy queen. I'd love to see a fuller version of this. I also just noticed how the smiley is actually an integral part of the title:D The only critique I have is that I know a few of my friends I'd like to show it to would likely have a bit of trouble keeping up with the dialog speed (though I was okay with it), so I'd suggest perhaps using a button/clicking on the dialog box to advance the dialog at your own pace instead
I love visual novels and I'm very touched by subjects like this, good work! The art and sound was very good too. I will be waiting for the full version! I forgot for a second this is a demo and I felt my heart drop- Oh and just a heads up, your itch.io link leads nowhere
I enjoyed the art, the very few times I've found games using this sketchy child-like art style I've really liked them! I played again, and again and again and was like 'how do I continue now- oh'- that's when I rememebered the game's title:)
Great job guys! Once I saw the cover art I instantly clicked. I love the atmosphere the artstyle combined with the music makes, very immersive. That being said, I had a couple of issues with the actual playing. The main one was that if not for Axodo's comment, I'd have probably closed the games after collecting the 3 clues, as I couldn't figure out how to progress (I tried just clicking them, or just clicking the empty spaces in the book, or drag and dropping the clues). Also, it would be helpful if when hovering over an interactable object, it eg got a little highlighted. Oh and because I don't know Chinese, I think there was a small language barrier with understanding the ending clearly. Overall solid work, with some playability enhacements I would love to see a bigger game in this style! Keep it up!
I love LOVE games with this retro art style, even more so when they have a green color palette! Hope you can make it outside of the jam anyway if you still want to:)
The title is what drew me in, as I was familiar with the term 'semaphores' in programming, but I just now learned about semaphore towers. Very specific game, points for your imagination! However, if not for the comments I'd have given up, as I had no idea I could move around.
I have quite a few issues with this. The uncentered menu boxes and plain words font threw me off, I would've liked some music and/or sfx, I can exit the screen for god knows how far haha, and I expected the 'try again' button when you lose to actually restart the game but instead it just closes it. Also, the player doesn't have much motivation to continue playing the game - is there a winning condition that can be satisified? some ideas are eg wiining after x time has elapsed, or otherwise having a timer to at least see how long you've survived. In any case, I see this is your first Ludum Dare submission. I'm sure with practice you can improve a lot, our comments have good intentions only! Welcome here and keep it up!^^
