Hey, if you softlocked yourself, you can hold 'x' to fix it. It's normally supposed to be impossible before a book tells you how to do it, but someone found a glitch that makes it possible to do so.

Cool idea. I think there's a bug with the bag of queueing, or maybe I'm just misunderstanding the rules, it seems to allow adding items even if there are no empty slots.

Anyway, I like the concept a lot, it really makes you think outside the box.

What a lovely little game! The mechanics are simple but it feels like there's room for depth here. The difficulty ramp feels too punishing, maybe with some extra puzzles it could be sanded down. Great job! Would love to see more of this!

Okay I understand the concept but wow, it's hard ! Really like it !

untitled-studios 2025-04-07 23:17

Really really cool! I *love* the concept. I got a bit lost on the 'staff of tedium' puzzle, though. (Fittingly, I suppose.)

Fantastic! I was slightly disheartened when the game did not end after the "Staff of Tedium"! But I pushed through and got a delicious-looking sandwich. Very nice.

Really nice algorithmic puzzles. Quite hard: I didn't manage to get past the locked bags yet, but a very interesting take on the theme. The object description are funny and add a touch of lore. Love it!

zettasimp 2025-04-08 13:03

@hubol As far as I can tell, you might be the first to get through to the sandwich! I'm quite glad, considering all my play testers quit on the 'Staff of Tedium'. Thanks for playing!

Amazing how you've managed to fit fun puzzle with tutorial and jokes into just set of slots! I've had a lot of fun digging through the bags and in the end somehow managed to softlock myself on the "bread of sandwitching" step xD

harmadillo 2025-04-08 20:12

Great game. The puzzles are engaging but easy to understand.

sypiac 2025-04-09 07:49

Very innovative. I seem to have softlocked myself on the tedium staff by somehow filling every single slot so nothing can be moved again, unfortunately. I like the concept, however.

locked

zettasimp 2025-04-09 13:23

@LeoAtopos @sypiac Yeah, that was a glitch discovered after uploading. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you placed an empty bag from one of your top two inventory slots inside of a full bag, but then took a different item out, leaving you no inventory spaces to navigate with. You can hold 'X' to reset a level, but since it isn't supposed to be possible to softlock yourself this early, the game doesn't teach you how to do it yet. These softlocks can be easily avoided by not overfilling bags beyond their intended capacity, or simply not taking a different item out of them when you do.

I see you too went for the recursive bag of holding route. Well, we didn't have the time to implement it in a way that really sold the recursive aspect, but it was our first intention, I swear! Anyway, pretty good head scratcher, with fine humor. I will say the staff of tedium was a little too tedious. I did manage to go past the length of the FIFO bag once during said puzzle. Wouldn't know how to reproduce, it though, and it didn't change anything anyway.

BLT/5 Stars, good first compo

Edit : Well, anyway, good first game published on this account (I swear, even if this metric if a lie I... Will do nothing about it, but still be mad)

zettasimp 2025-04-10 01:00

@trocentraisin Sorry to say, but this isn't my first compo. I'm aware of the glitch. It happens when you try to put away an empty bag into a full bag from one of your two main inventory slots. It makes me quite sad, because I'm sure plenty of players are getting softlocked and quitting. Thanks for playing my game! I enjoyed yours! I hope you liked the sandwich!

Very unique idea and creative interpretation of the theme! Also loved the coding references.

agraffs 2025-04-10 22:22

Interesting concept, the puzzles take some time to figure out which is nice. The graphics are simple but you understand what you have to do. GG

mao 2025-04-11 03:00

Interesting puzzle! Reminds me of how I used to stack portable inventories from Minecraft mods inside each other. The level with the locked bags is where I tapped out... Maybe I'll come back later and finish the rest of the levels.

I do wish the later levels still had colors. The first few levels without colors were interesting, but after that it was just kind of tiring keeping track of which bag was which.

Are you a Kasane Teto fan? When I saw that bag of bread I was just like, I had to complete this (unfortunately I didn't). I really enjoyed the concept of this time - while simple, with a bit more polish, there could be some really funny and joyful bits in here such as sound effects or more story with the person who owns this bag of holding. Absolutely hilarious and cute entry!

zettasimp 2025-04-12 13:41

@miku Nope, I think vocaloids are cool, but the bag of bread was not related to Kasane Teto, I just thought it would be amusing. I agree that the game needs more polish. Dr. Paradigm was intended to be the bag's owner initially, but I just gave him a cameo when it became clear I wouldn't have time to implement him. Now I head cannon that the protagonist is one of his students. If I continue this project, I'll definitely figure out what I want to do for the full version. Thanks for playing!

The puzzle design here is really clever, if a bit cruel, and some of the hover texts made me laugh out loud. I got burned by the soft-lock glitch a couple times but persevered anyway and managed to get a sandwich out of it :P. I think this would have been great with some extra effort put towards polish.

joniv 2025-04-22 20:04

Really interesting puzzle game, well executed! I agree with some of the comments above that the difficulty ramped up too fast. Very fun idea though and the hover texts were great!
