Fun game! I wish the fire hitbox was bit more forgiving. I kept dying to a fire jump sequence haha
Loved the Cthulhu gulp sounds
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD57 → Cubethulhu

Nice 3D effects and sound design. I kept dying in the fire, and the flight speed was a bit unintuitive.
I love atmospheric music! ooh and graphics so nicely made! yes!
Had really bad frame rate throughout. The platforming mechanics were alright, other than I wish there was a way to quickly descend instead of only being able to float slowly. The music kind of sounded like some of Infected Mushroom's downtempo tunes, which I love.
@team-9tailed Can you try again? I did some background optimizations and I wonder if it's any better for you now.
Anyway, thanks for the review. I was actually thinking of adding a faster descend button but never got around to it. Or Cubethulhu could do something funny while descending.
Really love the 2D gameplay in a 3D environment, it looked really cool! Great audio too, though I'd have to agree with previous feedback that the hitbox and framerate issues were a bit of a problem for a platformer with such tight spaces. Didn't manage to get Cubethulhu home in the end myself but I enjoyed what I played.
@matthewdrake That's weird, I had no framerate issues even in 4K, as you can see in my video above. Maybe I need to add a Windows export.
The lag in the game when played in the browser made the game much more difficult that it needed to be. Liked the concept of the game but wished that there was more variety to the obstacles in the game.
No Lag, but i could not pass the first fire as well (3 tries)...
This is sooo cute I luv it
Nice! Love the art and the sounds!
@flying-dog-fish I have a very poor framerate starting near the first fire pits, too.
@team-9tailed @matthewdrake @bluephoenix266 @deformhead I've made a simplified version of the game with sprite fire instead of 3D. It works much better on a very old laptop now so you shouldn't have any problems now.

@flying-dog-fish yes, that did improve the performance significantly
@team-9tailed Great, thanks for the feedback!
the visual is so cool!Good job!
Nice game. Love the 3D look and the music is great. Couple of the fire jumps were a bit unforgiving.
Nice platformer. The camera could use some smoothing, but otherwise not bad.
A nice platformer. I like the 3d look. I had to use the simplified version as the original became unplayable after a while. The fire collision is very unforgiving, I really struggled to get past one near the bottom of the final level. That one took two game-overs to get past and having to restart right from the beginning again was really annoying. I eventually managed to win. The coins don't seem to matter.
This platformer shines with its upbeat soundtrack and charming visuals, but frequent frame rate drops make controlling your character frustratingly unreliable. The lag disrupts precision jumps and movements, turning gameplay into a battle against technical hiccups rather than level design. While the art and music radiate creativity, the inconsistent performance overshadows the fun. A diamond in the rough—fix the optimization, and this could truly sparkle!
@someone That 3-tile-long fire before a wall is really hard, good job getting through. If this game goes any further, I'll probably lower that wall. The coins are there just for fun and a sense of achievement. They could eventually allow you to buy something in an ingame shop, but that is completely out of the scope for this jam.
Quite a curious lil platformer! :) I liked how smooth the controls feel, his very floaty jump made me feel like using a paraglider and was quite fun to the jumps. Make the absence of a coyote time be quite okay, since this floaty jump made the precision of the jump be good to the player! I really liked the feel. The difficulty was quite on point for a jam in my opinion.
I wish the camera was a little bit more stable. Most of the time it moves too much and quite fast, which made me a little dizzy :/ The soundtrack is good, make the fast mood be quite energetic. The sound efects are juicy, to take the coins feel quite pleasing :)
Overall a solid entry, good work! thank you for the game.
Love the 2d/3d visual style. Gave high innovation score just for it. Had no problems even with the poroifinal version, played to the end.
The game had a nice look retro look to it that I enjoyed a lot. The gameplay was solid and to the point. Nice platformer!
Pretty interesting approach to the platformer. It feels somewhat janky at first, but I quickly got used to it. There was also a performance issue when you get closer to the finish as it starts to lag quite a bit, but that didn't stop me from beating the game.
I reached everywhere I could for the coins and pretty satisfied with the end result. My platforming days are not behind me yet

What a cute little cube Chthulhu! I find myself yearning the most for some story that ties everything together. Why does the jump feel so floaty. Can this Cubethulhu fly or are we underwater? Why do we keep going down? Why do we want coins? I've never known this cosmic horror to be greedy...where are all the people? Why are some of the hearts behind walls? Are they truly inaccessible? All these unanswered questions...but at least there's save points!
Nice game! I think camera should be smoothed out a little, the movement feels too crazy. Also my FPS get very low when there is a lot of fire. I think gravity should be a little higher.
@Carraka I had the exact same questions. The floaty movement made sense for me, as I am familiar with Cthulhu :D. But I also wondered if there is a mechanic that I missed to get the hearts behind the walls? I like the consistent art style and mood of the game, and descending deeper and deeper also fits the theme! Well done!
@fraukauz Thanks for the review. The hearts behind the walls (and some other stuff) are there just for show.
@carraka Thanks for the review and the questions. Cthulhu has rudimentary wings so he can at least them to slow down its descent and to jump higher. We're going down because Cubethulhu wants to return home. The coins are there so he doesn't get bored on his way down.
