Very cool puzzles and interesting gameplay. Was a bit confused by the link to the theme.

oadt 2025-04-07 07:38

Nice entry! I found the hints very good because they still let you experiment, but I always managed to get the solution in an appropriate time. My biggest criticism is that things like getting the skrews off and the combination lock felt a bit too repetitive and cumbersome. But I liked the sliders and the mastermind like code terminal. One thing you could pay some attention next time is making sure that all symbols are big enough, some hints were very small on my monitor.

The ending was a very nice touch!

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-07 07:51

Thank you @oxnh , for the confusion about the theme, did you reach the end of the game ?

Thank you @oadt , your comment is helpfull. I actually misjudged the sizes of my assets on the screen and ended up running out of time. I'll be more careful next time!

okuar 2025-04-07 09:41

Oh, that was fun! It took a bit of time to understand what was expected at the start, and the timed level caught me off guard at first. The voice of narrator is really pleasant :)

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-07 09:54

Thank you so much @okuar  This is the first time I've used my voice to dub a character. It was a little weird héhé :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

ghettobastler 2025-04-07 12:18

Interesting take on the theme! The music and voiceover create a pleasant atmosphere. I'm curious about what's behind the timed level (I didn't manage to complete it in time, but I'm guessing it is possible).

sayeg 2025-04-07 17:10

Loved the voiceover and loved the mechanic! Might have fit the "Doors" theme better but I thought the ending was deep in its own way ;)

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-07 17:42

Thank you so much for your feedback @sayeg . I am glad that you liked the game

foolishfool 2025-04-07 20:47

I think that's enough for today, Mr. Butter. You have done good work. Let's leave it there for now. I had a great time playing your game.

onngd 2025-04-07 21:08

interesting game, but I guess I'm too dumb for this:D

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-08 07:13

Thank you @foolishfool for your amazing feedback, love it ! Best comment ever ! I'm happy you had a great time

Hello @onngd , if you need help on some puzzles, I can help. Maybe that's my fault with a confusing puzzle ?

onngd 2025-04-08 07:31

@flying-butter-studio I think my brain just doesn't adapt well to such games:D I see a lot of fans of this genre in the comments above who praise your game, which means you did everything cool!

jachymthegoat 2025-04-08 08:52

The audio, the visuals, probably the best game i found so far, good job!

dendi-life 2025-04-08 09:01

I like it, there are a lot of interesting solutions, and the voice acting and all the audio are worthy of respect.

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-08 11:43

Thank you @jachymthegoat It means a lot to me, thank you for your feedback!

Thank you @dendi-life I did my best to try to dub the character. My girlfriend made the musics, she appreciate your comment  I'm glad to know that you found the game and its puzzles interesting.

senkoso 2025-04-08 19:06

I'm a fan of puzzle games! tysm

wanabi 2025-04-08 19:23

Pleasant music and a real pleasure to pick locks and solve puzzles. Thank you for the game!

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-08 19:40

Thank you @senkoso and @wanabi I'm glad to know you had a great time solving the puzzle of my little game  @wanabi My girlfriend is happy to know that her musics were pleasant for you

thomas-bringer 2025-04-09 14:07

Cool game! I didn't know you could host your game directly on unity.com, that's pretty cool! I especially enjoyed the unique take on the theme and the overall execution with nice music and all :)

Edit: you managed to do Doors + Depths in one game btw haha

hernandack 2025-04-09 14:18

Pretty neat and fun. I like the audio and of course the delivery of the game, although I'm not pretty sure about the Depths theme but it's fun to play

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-09 14:25

Thank you @thomas-bringer  Yes you can upload on it, this is easier than here and itch.io. I'm happy to know you had a great time playing  Thanks for your nice comment

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-09 14:36

Thanks @hernandack  The take of the time was to explore de Depths of the mind of the main character and his nightmares  Happy to know you liked it

nicekot 2025-04-09 20:10

That turned grim pretty quickly. Unusual take, but well executed. Not counting that stupid locker knob that just refuses to be grabbed a lot of the times.

Nice work!

mikemikemakes 2025-04-09 20:28

Oof, that timed level made me feel all kinds of ways. Did NOT enjoy it, but in a way that was likely intentional.

Unfortunately, I got stuck on the puzzle after that (maybe my own stupidity? Maybe a bug?) and so didn't get to see the end of the game.

Love the title. Works in many ways.

Because of the timed level (and having kids myself), I wouldn't play a more polished version of this (knowing that it's coming would just make it worse), but I would recommend you make a more polished version; this game has legs. The narrative and the game play reinforce each other and that's a rare thing for a game to do. Great job.

broco 2025-04-09 21:53

Hey! Nice short game!

It was really hard for me to understand the shapes on the lock since they are sooo small. There's little to no difference between the circle and the square. This made it really difficult for me to understand some puzzles. Ended up completing it after a while anyways.

Just one question, is the level with the timer imposible to complete? I couldn't find the clue for the locks. It's the only thing stopping me.

Regarding the theme of the jam, I guess this is some kind of "depth of the mind" kind of game, so I think it's ok

cmaks 2025-04-10 01:35

Agreed with earlier comments on asset size, but I loved the concept, music, and voice over!

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-10 07:09

Thanks you @nicekot @mikemikemakes @broco @cmaks

@nicekot I apologize for the lockets :sob:

@mikemikemakes I understand that the timed level can be "traumatic", sorry for that feeling. But I'm glad to know you appreciate the game anyway  I'm taking your advice to make it a more complete game very seriously. I'm currently finalizing my current project on Steam and I'm thinking of doing that next.

@broco The timed level is impossible to complete  You can't safe your child because of that's a memory. But you are right with the theme. That's a kind of "Depth of the mind" i tried to make

@broco and @cmaks I actually misjudged the sizes of my assets on the screen and ended up running out of time. I’ll be more careful next time! Sorry for that

broco 2025-04-10 12:19

@flying-butter-studio I know there was a big time constrain, but! I would have loved if you could get the missing code for the locks after you see it on the burnt door. I actually played it again to try this approach but it was too late when I realized the amount of locks was different 😅 Potential for multiple endings there 😉

kuboi 2025-04-11 13:41

Nice game, I liked the mechanics, the timed level was a nice touch actually got me sweating for a bit:D Unfortunately couldn't get past the next one, the numbers don't seem to be right (or maybe I read them wrong:D) Would spend more time figuring it out but grabbing of some of the locker points was wonky and it got me too frustrated to continue:D

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-12 05:55

Thanks @kuboi and sorry for the lockers :/ For the numbers, they are corrects, have you tried ordering the shapes by their number of sides?

blacklyte 2025-04-12 14:30

Interesting ideas for puzzles; echoing another comment, larger symbols would have helped with some things.

Will also note, I don't quite understand how the keypad is supposed to work (beyond guessing, and I have a vague idea of how to read the prompts for it)...

Then again, I really didn't want to stop playing until I finished, so it kept me engaged!

Nice to see a very different take on the theme from some of the other entries I've seen in the jam!

jkyd 2025-04-12 20:00

This was so much fun! The idea to reveal the insides of the locks was fantastic -- the padlock puzzle was especially satisfying in that regard. The mastermind puzzle took me a bit to figure out that it was indeed mastermind, but I think it ended up being one of my favourites. I probably wouldn't have figured out the ordering of shapes by their number-of-sides solution without seeing your comment above. However, I think that it could help to make the graphics for the shapes a tiny bit bigger, as I didn't really notice them at first and the fact that the number of sides was important, wasn't super easy to read.

We also made a lockpicking game! It's nice to see another dev team that was similarly inspired by "doors", and went for the challenge of tying in 2 themes :)

fupi 2025-04-13 00:18

I really like the music, graphics, and the little voice over, but all the elements in the game are way too small to me, my eye sight isn't the greatest :sweat_smile: I got stuck at the level where there's a graph with a line going up. I thought I needed to pick the shapes where the number of sides on them keeps going up, but I can't really tell what each shape is supposed to be since they're so tiny! They're just a few pixels on my screen. If that's not the solution I'd like a hint because I'm stumped ;w;

binaryprinciple 2025-04-13 03:40

I really enjoyed how you play with the concept of depth, and how you unlock the deepest sides of your memory. I liked the puzzles, it felt like a real progression. I got stuck and couldn't figure out the 62456 combination even by using the total sides of each shape. I recommend larger symbols.

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-13 11:11

Thank you @binaryprinciple @jkyd and @blacklyte for your great comments! I agree with the size of symbols, my bad: I will remember this next time ! I'm happy to know you liked my take of the theme

@jkyd I will try next your lockpicking game too!

@fupi Thanks for your comment  I'm sorry about the size of the shapes. To help you concerning the level with the graph, here a little tip: try to simply reproduce the graph, specialy the line going up

fupi 2025-04-13 12:26

Thank you, I could've sworn I did that already ;w; Now I'm stuck on a different level. The one with the dirty flower door. I opened up and solved the combination lock, but I'm stuck on the sliding locks. It looks like the hint says 62345, I tried using the number of sides each shape has, and just putting the ball at those positions, both up and down, but I still haven't solved it... Am I just really stupid?

asieke 2025-04-14 03:04

Very nice puzzle game! Good balance on the hints being helpful but not too helpful.

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-14 08:03

Hello @fupi . This is because of the size of the shapes, not your bad  You are correct except for the 4th : you selected the sqare (4 sides), you must select the second shape (circle) on the line

Thank you @asieke for your feedback

fupi 2025-04-14 11:56

@flying-butter-studio Oh, I did intend to select the square, I thought that 1 was a 4  That's a really long upper stroke on that 1. I'll try again soon

fupi 2025-04-14 12:20

Ok I managed to finish it this time! I liked the panic section in the middle and the reveal at the end that this is a therapy session. Very pretty artwork. I really like the puzzles, they're simple but feel good. My only problem as I said is the size of the assets, I caught myself playing really close to the screen all the time trying to see what those shapes are x) Nevertheless it's a really creative game, you got quite some mileage out of a simple idea.

BTW: The source code link goes to a 404 page, did you forget to set it to public?

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-14 14:13

Thanks @fupi I'm glad to know you enjoy my game  My bad about the assets size  You are right, i forgot to set my repository public, it's done now

jacobingalls 2025-04-18 04:37

Screenshot 2025-04-17 213554.png

That was hard, but only because the symbols were so small. I too always have to get the lint out from my door lock.

flying-butter-studio 2025-04-20 21:08

Thank you @jacobingalls and sorry about the size of the shapes. I hope you found some interresting puzzle anyway 😉
