Heads up, the download doesnt work for me, Firefox, Windows 11, no ad blocker or extensions. It doesn't download. Might just be me.
~~Download link is giving me a 404~~ Works now!
This is an awesome platformer, and genuinely hard :)
The level design was very good.
One thing is that the green/turquoise spikes confused me for a while because I thought they were grass.
@mduo13 @scottmakesgames @huga should work now
idk if im allowed to change the file though...
@haotian-chen It works now! I'm glad I came back to this one! Very pleasant atmosphere, challenging jumps. I got lost a couple of times because it didn't occur to me to go back to the left. The jumping mechanics feel great. In particular you have it set up so that if I only briefly tap the jump, I get a smaller jump than if I hold the jump button. This is excellent attention to detail, its one of those invisible little features that makes a huge difference. Great work! 😁👍
If I could add one constructive piece of feedback; when the breaking platforms fall out from beneath the character, it would ***feel*** a lot better if you allowed the character to still jump for a short moment. Its another one of those invisible details makes a big difference.
Fun platformer, thought the art was really nice. The hair/clothes/etc all moved in the wind/as I moved.
This was the best submission I have played so far. The platforming is smooth, the graphics are next level, and the mechanics are cool. My thumb is sore from spamming jump so much lol. Feels/looks very celestey and I love it.
work for me love the background and song
@scottmakesgames thanks for the tips! i did actually feel that problem as well when i was testing, and my solution (for some reason i didnt do(laziness perhaps)) was simply make those platforms take longer to fall. your solution work with coyote time was actually better i think. anyway ,thank you for like my game!
The download worked for me :) Love the artwork. I feel I'm not good enough at platformers to complete it though :`) tried a bunch at a certain part and just kept falling to my doom. Animations on the character are really well done
One of the best games I've played so far. I love the art styles, the atmosphere, the music. the gameplay. From start to finish it felt challenging and rewarding.
I had so much fun playing this! Loved the mechanics and having to think "What is possible where I am currently standing?" The level design made you feel super smart when you figure out how to to platform through it correctly. Would love to see this as a full game :)
I'm glad you fixed your file. This game is fun. It is definitely NOT "easy peezy" I was not able to beat it. Last time I did ludem dare, I also made a super difficult platformer. So I understand. GREAT job on the pixel environment art.
Great game! I like the art and music. Just enjoy it!
Loved the game! Crazy what you got accomplished in 3 days solo! The wall jumping was frustrating lol! Not sure if skill issue or implementation issue :D
Very nice artwork. The level design is straightforward / celeste-like, which I love. The difficulty ramps up quite quickly, so thanks for the frequent checkpoints.
The overlapping de-buff zones are an interesting idea, but overload my brain. I just brute-forced each area until I figured out what was intended for me, I couldn't tell you which colors debuffed what ability, it wasn't very "read-able" for me, even with the HUD.
I had some trouble with the wall jumping, which seemed to just fail sometimes.
Good job overall! Fun game!
This seems really cool, but unfortunately I can't get the rock climbing to work consistently enough to reach the top of the wall in the first no-double-jump zone... It works fine elsewhere, is there some weird interaction with the colliders there?
@ben-parisi i made it too hard again? damn... I always want to make combinations of all mechanics and it always turns out to be quite hard.
@ismael-rodriguez yeah that is one of the problem i always thinking about when i made the game. i really want a clear way to show player what power you gets limited, but i just can figure out a good enough solution.
@vanillz @mao that's odd, i didnt meet significant wall climbing problem when i test it, hmmmm.
I'm glad the download works now. I enjoyed it and even managed to finish it (though it was hard). I really wish I could have played this on a game controller—I tried hooking one up and the directional movement works but not the jump or dash.
The graphics are excellent; I like the color scheme and the windy mountain vibes. The way the main character's hair flows in the wind is a nice touch. The spikes in a couple places are a little hard to see while the game is moving, and I wish there was a little more feedback to show that I hit them (like, stopping movement, a sound effect, and a quick animation other than the screen fading out): there were times I was confused as to how I had died, because I was looking ahead to the next thing and didn't realize I had touched them.
In terms of game design it feels very closely following after Celeste. Nice take on "limited space" meaning "spaces in which you are limited" but in practice it feels like a lesson in why this sort of design is difficult. It's hard to keep track which of three different jump abilities corresponds to which color, especially with all 3 being introduced around the same time and pretty soon having them mix and match.
Also, it seems like there is very little coyote time, if any, which feels extra hard in this day and age where the concept is so well understood. (The "Movement 2" Godot demo even implements it, though the timing in that demo might be _too_ generous by default.)
Still, a nice little game, pretty slick and complete for something made in a time crunch.
@mduo13 thanks a lot for the very detailed advice! i've thought about most of those problem when i make the game and it's really nice when someone point it out that those problems are real, so i know where i should improve next time.
I set coyote time to 0.1s which i think was normal though, seems Celeste-like game do need a little more of coyote time?
i actually plan to make it work with controller at first, but i didnt have time to do it since i never try that before. pretty sure ill do it on next jam though.
Yeah, I would expect 0.1s to be enough coyote time if it's working correctly. With a window that small of course it's hard to tell for sure. I mostly play these types of games on controller so maybe I was just struggling because of the keyboard. The nice thing is Godot Engine makes it controller support pretty easy, so you can definitely do that next jam!
Really nice platformer game! And interesting mechanics too! Both art style and music are awesome too! My only complain would be controls. It worked like 90% of the time, especially double jump, and sometimes platforms broke before I even stand on them. But it wasn't bad, it still was nice too play. Great job!
The game was fun, the mechanics were on point. I felt the controls sometimes did't register, but that didn't take away from the atmosphere and graphics, it felt pretty polished. I love the mechanics though, and the setting is interesting. Can't wait to see more and more good Godot games popping up in every new Ludum!
Hey, cool art! The level design is as said very Celeste like, which is awesome. It gets challenging pretty fast, but those frequent checkpoints were a lifesaver!
The wall jumping was a bit wonky for me, it just didn't work sometimes. which hindered some of the enjoyment. But overall it was great Had a blast playing your game!
Would have liked to play more of this, maybe I'm doing something wrong but jumping while on the wall half the time made me slide down instead of jump up. Interesting mechanics and ideas though, graphics are also very nice.
I really like the pixel art and the controls feel good. I'm not great at these kinds of games, so I couldn't get that far, but it seems really well made for just 3 days. I think I'd like to play this with a controller more than the mouse and keyboard.
A pretty game that feels good to play. Unfortunately I couldn't wall jump in the first white zone no matter what I tried!
@bredera @siberpunk01 @mooptychunk well that's super wired, i've seen this problem been mentioned a lot but it just, i never met it myself so i dont even know where to start.
can you guys describe what happened? sometime nothing happened when you press SPACE on the wall? oh, btw you have to keep pressing move key to do that. like, if the wall is on your right, you have to keep pressing D and than press jump to do wall climb. i dont know if that's what happened but that's the only thing i can think of.
@haotian-chen I tested a little bit! While holding D and Space the character slides down the wall very quickly. I get the same behavior when not holding any key against the wall. Once I exit the white zone I can wall jump normally
@mooptychunk yeah i kinda know what's happened. think this way, by holding A or D you can stick on the wall, and than you can press space to jump. so it's not pressing D and space at same time, it's holding A or D, than press jump multiple time. i did that cause i dont want player to stick on the wall by just approach them.
seems i have to work more on control logic. and i shouldnt show the sliding animation while player is not actually sliding. more improvement, nice.
Very nice game, got me instantly. Sadly i also couldnt get the wall jum to work in the first white zone. But nice Job, i love the music and the Pixelart.
@tschonni have you try holding D? Or there is another problem i didnt know…
Very well made jam entry!
I'm not a huge platformer player, but it felt to me like the difficulty was - for the most part - just right: not too difficult, yet still challenging. The save / checkpoints are pretty well placed, so you don't have to repeat a huge part of the level if you fail a jump. The only part I found a bit too difficult was the final quadruple-dash jump to the end of the game. In the end, I couldn't complete it this way, but after several tries, when I was about to give up, I found that you can also do it in another way, which proved much simpler.

I haven't found any problem with the wall jumping or climbing, everything seemed to work as intended. There seemed to be some occasional issues with the double jump, as it sometimes looked like it didn't register the second space press (and I wasn't in the white zone), though I didn't manage to figure out the exact occurrence conditions. Other than that, everything handled pretty well and the controls in general felt very smooth.
The idea of having "spaces of limit" is a pretty good interpretation of the theme. The UI showing you which of your abilities are disabled was also a good idea, as it's pretty easy to forget which zone you're in once you move past its border.
The game looks simply beautiful. Everything looks amazing, and while all the sprites are really high quality pixelart, I don't think there's any doubt the main character is the best of them all, especially with all her animations on all the moves.
All in all, it's a very impressive work for such a short jam. Well done!
@lcstark thanks so much for like my game and detailed feedback!
the double jump problem might have something doing with those falling platform, they fall faster than i thought, so probably when you press jump you are already on air, not sure though.
It's good to see you again. Great game, wallkick, dash feel great. I had trouble climbing the walls at the beginning of the second level. Every time I jumped the character would speed up and fall, which prevented me from continuing the game.
From the first level this is going to be a really great game. I'll come back when you fix the bug.
here‘s a sad faputa

@thyoi thank for play my game again sosu!
the wall climb problem almost drives me crazy, i dont know what is actually going wrong!
i have to ask again did you press direction key (A or D) during wall climbing? if no, try do it, and if that work ill feel better because it just some control logic problem. but if yes you did, i, just dont know what to start with. i never met this problem myself, not even my platformer noob cousin. it just so weird
Fun entry! Some of the controls felt a little difficult to use in execution, but the ideas behind the design and general mechanics here are very solid. Puzzling out then executing how to solve each area was a lot of fun! Also, wonderful art and atmosphere- the animations for the player character and the background especially are great.
the game is quite interesting, it was fun to play, everything was done well, both the controls and the game design itself
