Cool idea.
Love the art, but I think it needs some more sound effects for when the player shoots.

Cool idea.
Love the art, but I think it needs some more sound effects for when the player shoots.
Art is excellent! I don't think I fully understand how you fit the theme, though. Is it because increasing numbers of enemies limit your space to maneuver? I also really enjoyed the soundtrack. Controls were smooth and bug-free.
Nice idea and I love the art so much. However, I think it could really use some more feedback for the player and general game juiciness (especially in terms of sound effects for firing, hitting and getting hit). I also didn't see any indication of how low my health was, despite the hearts up top. It was also a bit hard to tell what the door was on the mushroom room.
@jackofcups U are absolutely right. Space to maneuver, especially considering the ricochet.
Guys, thank you for your comments. We appreciate it very much. Unfortunately, we didn't implement all the features during ludum, so we will continue to improve it pretty soon.
Cool concept! I hope you keep working on it!
@binayas Thank you! Yes, I agree! We will definitely do that.
@jackofcups Thank you for your feedback! The idea is also about limited multiverse, as you can see in game's title. The hero keeps trying to exit the space, to defeat monsters or to run away, but he keeps returning there again and again. No matter what new location or enemies there are, it's a limitless cycle of limited options.
The Art is amazing, and I like the idea of the bouncing projectiles. Obviously you guys ran out of time for some of the programming and bug fixing bit, but nonetheless great work. I didn't make it to the end, if it does exist. Only mention for the art is that the mushroom room could use a visual door too :)
@notnasiul Thank you! We want it too! You can follow us on itch to keep notified
@enreh Thank you so much for such feedback! Since it's our first ludum dare entry we wasn't sure of how much options we will be able to add to our game in limited time. Since it's a demo, we decide to put the hearts and coin icons to show the overall idea of interface. We are still working on more features!
Que pixel art linda cara, gostei do detalhe do botão de espaço ser pressionado no inicio, hehe
The pixel art is very endearing and well done. I do with there was more feedback to the player for firing/killing enemies/moving rooms but I can understand fitting that into jam priority wise. Nice concept!
This was cool, I loved the pixel art
I loved the art style, idea that menu is a computer and a ricochet in a limited space, but there is too much free space on the screen, half of the screen is the free space, then one quarter is ui, which is useless(hp doesn't change, money also just a number), and that leaves one about one quarter for actual gameplay, which is inconvinient because you have to concentrate on small sprites. Also it would be great to add some sound effects for shooting and other stuff. Though, I liked maneuvering between enemies, but speed of enemies' bullet compared to character's speed feels a little unfair. Overall, a nice little prototype that could use some polish.
Super atmospherical and stylish! I love images, music, which immersing me in some nostalgic world.. The controls are responsive, ensuring a smooth gaming experience throughout. Also I was charmed by the ricochet effect, it seems especially unusual and adds a layer of strategy. This is a must-play for anyone seeking a fresh blend of artistry and gameplay.
This artwork is absolutely fantastic! I'm quite taken by the delightful blend of naivety brought on by the pixelation and the incredible level of intricacy present. The game locations exude an irresistible charm that beckons for a closer look; they're visually captivating. The depiction of mushrooms is particularly outstanding, almost like a standalone masterpiece within the piece itself.
Moreover, the accompanying music is nothing short of perfect. It not only fits seamlessly, but it also has a catchy quality that stays with you (and yes, it sticks in your head, haha)
cool artworks ! I am always loving those vintage games
Great art, very nicely designed!
The movement is a little slow and sluggish, making dodging bullets pretty hard. An evade mechanic would've been welcome in that regard.
I also noticed that if the monsters are far away enough from the exit, you can just move there and walk through to the next level. And the mushroom level confused me a moment, I didn't really what the exit was. The orange/red border continuing in front of it made the exit look like a backdrop instead of a continuation of the ground.
Is your description of *"Communicate and fight with multiples monsters, buy weapons and clothes and travel through multiverse on your computer!"* correct for this version of the game, or are communication and item purchases things that didn't make it in the game? If so, I never made it far enough to find those portions of the game.
Cool sound track and even better artwork! I also like how the bullets bounce off the wall so you have to be careful where you shoot. The controls are a bit slow and after a certain amount of rooms you kind of get overwhelmed by the monsters, but apart from that this was a great game!
Hey there! I like the idea of this game alot, there's lots of potential here for improvements! For example, it would be really cool to have the character say things in between levels, that way he's face is justified in the UI! Definitely needs more feedback, and I wasn't sure where to go as there wasn't any visible door on some levels but I got the gist haha, thank you for leaving the comment about continuing the game otherwise I wouldn't have noticed the other levels 😂 Good job on your first entry!!! Keep it up!
A cool 2D shooting game that I had a blast playing. Once, I shot a bullet behind an enemy, and it bounced rapidly between the wall and the enemy, just like in a brick-breaking game. It was so much fun!
However, some of the UI elements seemed ineffective. The health bar never seemed to decrease (even though I did die, maybe it was just a display issue?), and the score in the top right corner didn't change either.
The visuals are fantastic, though. I love the decorations in the rooms, and the character designs and illustrations are really well done.
One of the most impressive aspects is the music. It's full of rhythm and reminds me of some classic arcade games I used to play.
Overall, great job!
@daveranan Thank you very much for your review! We wanted to add dialogue system but didn't fit in time. So we only added the character's face to show the overall UI idea. So it will be added, just a bit later. And we also received a lot comments on hard times finding the door on mushroom map, so it will also be added. Thank you for kind words!
@nilan Thank you so much! We added health bar and score icon but didn't get the time to make it decrease and increase, yeah. So for now it's just there to show overall concept.
First of all, INSANE graphics! These environments are absolutely amazing and probably the best I've ever seen in a game jam! For the gameplay, I like it but it lacks a bit of feedback I think!
Cool game. Good graphics and sound.
One thing I noticed in the mushroom map the green monsters would sometimes end up on top of the mushrooms, maybe intentional.
Also, maybe not implemented, but it didn't appear that health changed?
This game is an incredible looking proof-of-concept for a future project. I absolutely love the sprite art, both for the monsters and the environments. Everything is perfectly colorful and shiny!
It definitely feels like there's something missing here, though. I'm unsure of what exactly all had to be cut, but I think a few more mechanics/actions for the player to take as well as some dialogue to explain the situation would be a good starter. Movement also felt slow for a shooter like this. And I was very shocked when my character took damage from his own bullet! It's realistic, and can work good if the mechanic is justified (i.e. if bullet hell is the genre you're aiming for) and I can see how it can be used to make the player more careful with their shots and less likely to just fire into open space.
There were also a couple spots, especially near doorways, where I hit some invisible walls and couldn't move forward. I think the thing I want to point out the most, though, is in regards to the designs of the maps. Being completely honest, I'm not sure how far a game could go using maps that are just single, square-shaped rooms. I don't mean to sound rude, but I felt myself getting a bit bored! I can see from the screenshots on your itch io page that certain rooms will have furniture in them, but my suggestion would be breaking down more of your wall tiles or the things affixed to the walls in the room maps into placeable objects. Even if you keep the geometry of rooms relatively simple, having the player be able to explore more intricate maps will help keep them engaged. Seeing too much of the same thing can lead to all of it blending together in the player's mind.
Combat also needs something, although I'm sure it will have something to do with the money counter in the corner. Currently, I didn't seem to find any real reason to kill enemies, as not only did they take multiple hits to kill, but they served no real reward.
All of that being said, I would absolutely love to follow this project along in its development, that is, if you continue to develop it! I think it's a really cool idea and an absolutely gorgeous world, and I can't wait to see where it goes!
Cool concept and the art is awesome!! Has almost a modern 80s vibe to it. I dig it.
I felt like I needed the damage or rate of fire higher? The shooting got a bit frustrating. And at one point found I could just bypass monsters and go through the door, so I started doing that instead and just avoiding combat altogether. :grimacing:
I kept clicking on the gun hoping to swap weapons. With the bouncy walls and tight spaces... I feel like there is something interesting here, just need to make the player feel a little more powerful and have some variety of weapons?
Nice stuff!
The art is beatiful, but the game lacks gameplay consistency and clarity:
1. There's no sounds on player actions, only music. I can understands that this is a jam, but sounds makes all the difference to player experience in the game. Fortunately, you can find some decent free sound packs on itch.io
2. I would not recommend to keep in UI elements which don't work, just to avoid tons of obvious feedback that something doesn't work, because you didn't have time to implement it properly.
3. Enemy bullets are a little bit too small and fast in comparison to player character speed.
Loved the art, couldn't find the door. Would've loved if the player had some sound effects. The idea of bouncy bullets that fill the room and therefore create a sort of risk reward gameplay (shoot more bullets to clear enemies faster but also be more vulnerable yourself) is a cool idea and fits with the LD theme of limited space. Nice try on your first entry. Keep it up!
Was wondering if AI tools were used for the art? Very impressive at first glace.
By coincidence I saw a post of yours on Instagram. The art is incredible. The concept is great within the theme. But I don't understand why the bullets hit the wall and come back, that's annoying because they hit me. The hearts also don't change color when I take damage so I don't know how much life I have left. The shot could do more damage... (@mehul) asked about AI, I hadn't thought about it, sometimes I forget about it, either way, whether or not it's great
Nice art style! Also, what controls feel somehow really good, the character moving rather slow but not so much that it feels bad. Also, the friendly fire is a nice touch.
I really enjoyed it! The art is great, I liked the soundtrack too. ~~but honestly i’m really bad at this game!~~ Haha
This game could be better if health display works. But anyways, the moving space is really limited and I had to struggle to survive and shoot. I would suggest health item to restore health but maybe the health is restored in every room? I couldn't see it.
Graphics is amazing! The game is also fun but feels a little incomplete. I really liked thi idea of bullets bouncing of the walls in a limited space, it has a potential to be used against enemies
I found the game incredibly captivating. The concept is truly impressive. Keep up the excellent work, and you'll undoubtedly reach a high level of professionalism
Very good game, especially the ricochet of bullets when they hit the wall, but lacks the sound of weapon firing.Overall,a very good game, even if it's a prototype.
