Your itchio link is not working :(
I didn't notice I could drag on the gray lines and the game was super hard, then it became easier. Music was nice, also the graphics was okay. I like the idea as well, pretty unique from what I've seen so far. Fun overall.
Neat board game! I like the puzzle aspect of the delivery system. I think the reroll is maybe too punishing, or I was just really unlucky.
liked the game buddy... you have to think a lot to decide each move in the game....NICE !!!
It took me a few turns to understand the rules completely, but once I did I found it to be quite fun and a very interesting mechanic. The presentation is also delightful, the music was pleasant, and I appreciated the pencil sounds.
I had quite an interesting final round where I needed a pizza to progress and only had one row left, so it was re-roll until pizza or clock and it was quite tense! Very well done, I may take inspiration from this for future entries
@ron88 Should be fixed now. Forgot to put it from draft to publish.
@khaotom That is probably correct. I should have just limited how many times you can reroll, or used some of the other spaces on the board that give you additional rerolls and got rid of the clock faces on the dice.
@tompudding glad you had fun!
At first I was confused what to do. It's a lot to read and I didn't notice that I unlocked more rows. Then I understood the mechanics and had a lot of fun! It's quite challenging and I didn't make it to the end, but really enjoyed playing it. Sometimes the ingredients weren't checked off -> like here: pizza_friday.png
@helen That is just bad layout on my side I think. From the house to the south of the pizza you circled there should be two pizzas and a pie crossed off, which there is, just in the left half of the house. On the north house there is one pizza and one breadstick adjacent to that house and that is what is crossed off. I do get how it is confusing though. Guess that is why I'm a programmer and not a designer haha!
Creative idea for a game! I like the way it's designed so that it could be played with actual dice. The mechanics of being able to feed multiple houses with one die is clever, and led to a lot of thought being required to place the dice in such a way that everyone was happy without running out of space. It's certainly quite challenging.
Maybe a bit too challenging... The requirements to win are very tight considering the luck involved. There's way more pizza than other orders - yet the pizza has the same rarity as everything else - so I often felt forced to just re-roll hoping to get pizza. As a result, failed re-rolls also feel too punishing. If you lose a die you'll probably fail to complete a house and waste time anyway, so wasting extra time seems unnecessary.
That said, the presentation is good. The colour scheme does a good job of evoking a pizza restaurant and the way the board is displayed makes it clear how everything works. I like details such as the dice slightly lagging behind the cursor, and the satisfying dice rolling sound effect. The music is nice to listen to as well.
@phlip45 thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. So I have to give it another try. Maybe this time I'll make it til the end :)
@veralos It is a bit tough yeah. I did want to add a bit more to the game. Initially I wanted to add a scoring system so there was more than just a win/lose state, and instead a scale of successfulness. I also had wanted to add extra objectives that could earn you more points. Things like having a bunch of adjacent pies or making a certain pattern. That is why there are a bunch of extra spaces on the board that do nothing, because they were going to be available to complete extra objectives.
A failed reroll should have just locked the die from being rerolled again instead of marking a time slot for sure. There is currently very little reason to reroll as you can just deposit any dice not used onto the empty slots on the board and get 3 fresh dice for the cost of 1 clock.
Anyways, thanks for playing! I appreciate the thought and time you put into your comment.
The idea is really good! The rules first seem a bit complex, then after understanding them the game seems to be quite simple. But it is difficult, like really difficult. I played way too much, but I actually nearly beat it. I think the strategy is to avoid rerolls as much as possible and just fill the positions that don't have houses adjacent instead. Because if you reroll the chances of getting a clock are too much. I think it is so difficult, because the amount of items is often equal to the adjacent fields, so one single mistake can instantly ruin the run completely. I was even considering writing a solver just to be able to beat the game.
Besides the difficulty, I like the art and music. Also the "single view", which contains everything is nice to see the board and rules side by side. One minor UX bug I noticed is that the "Reset" button is way more convenient to click than the "End turn" button, since you tend to move back to the dice and then the "Reset" button is closer, which means when not thinking about it you click the "Reset" button, which is a bit frustrating if you are concentrating on not messing up and suddenly the board resets.
All in all good job!
Edit: Forgot to attach my screenshot
Edit2: Made it smaller

@theguy Thanks for the in depth comment! There are definitely some locations that must have a particular icon. I originally intended for it to be a score game, where you get points for completing houses and completing certain groups of icons, but I made some key mistakes in the back end coding that took up most of my time, so I had to drop the score aspect.
I appreciate your input on the reset button. I just kinda slapped it on their last minute so people didn't have to restart the game to try again and didn't think too much about where I put it. Same goes for the SFX and Music sliders.
Thanks!
I loved the puzzle, it was super challenging! The music is great and the graphics are really clean. I almost made it to the end, had that one pizza left at the very top, then rolled over and over and never got the pizza xD
It took a while to figure out the rules, especially around the clock dice. I'm guessing it would have benefited from a separate screen with more detailed rules written out. I also almost never used re-rolls. Most of the time, it seemed like a better deal to place my dice in empty spaces then re-roll all three, rather than risk losing one or two clocks. Not sure what the math looks like there.
Just a few things that I'd suggest visually:
* At first I didn't know you could place anything on the road -- I thought it was three different grids on the three grassy areas. Maybe you could have the grid overlap the road somehow.
* I didn't realize the houses were connected, since the food is still in a grid-like pattern (I treated them like apartment buildings). Probably could be described more clearly in the rules, but maybe there's something visual you could do to make that more clear.
* If this were a table-top game, you would know how many clocks you lose after rolling 1 or 2. It'd be cool to see that number in the top left right after rolling.
Otherwise though, I had a lot of fun, probably my favorite game I've played so far this jam!
Very cool idea, I am gonna spend a lot of time playing this. Keep up the great work. Enjoyed it a lot :)
Really fun puzzle, with nice music. It took a few attempts to figure out what I'm trying to do. I think rolling for pizzas should be slightly more common. I found that it was quite easy to get to the end and lose because you never rolled (or re-rolled) pizzas, but maybe that's just the difficulty. Well done.
Never have I cursed breadsticks and clocks as much as I have here. Luckily I had breaksticks IRL that made the immersion complete. Really awesome puzzle game!
I just played this on stream, I really liked the puzzle game aspect of it, but found the dice game a bit frustrating. After collecting my thoughts, I think there are kind of two games here. One is the figuring out of where things must go to be able to satisfy all of the constraints, in the things the houses need and their placements. The other is satisfying as many of these needs as possible, with no care as to whether you get them all or not. I think the game as it is kind of doesn't have its feet strongly enough on either side of that. If it wants to be something where houses couldn't be completed, make it less likely! If it wants to be something where houses must be completed, deterministically give me valid options. I again liked the puzzle game/constraint solving more, but overall it was a really cool game to think about! Great job on the polish as well, I like the "marking off" effect
✔️ I like the strategy aspect of the game; its not normally seen in these kinds of jam games which is nice!
✔️ Good difficulty.
➖ Took me a while to figure out what was going on. Maybe a tutorial could help?
⭐ Overall: Nice little strategy game!
I like roll & write games generally - I sell one! 😁
If took a little while for me to fully understand the rules of the game. I guess you don't have a lot of space for rules on the game sheet itself but it would have been nice to have an example playthrough sheet (2nd screen in the digital version) with an example of in-play. I'm more of a visual learner so seeing how the game is being played would have probably given me all the info I needed to play it myself. Explaining roll & write's is the most difficult aspect I find. I don't know if that's the same for you?
So nice mechanic. Nice way of incorporating the theme. Congrats on your entry 👏🏻
Very interesting concept for a game. I couldnt beat it but was a cool idea! Keep up the good work!
Nice idea. The rules and icons are a bit confusing and it took me a while to understand how to play.
Didn't manage to clear the top row
Pretty good idea and execution. It looked way more complex in the beginning with all the rules but after start all made sense. Had some fun! Music and art fits well. Would be nice if pizzas were rolled more often. Also congrats in your first Godot game!
I liked it so much, good idea, original music, and fun to play overall. I must say I felt a bit frustrated when, in some cases, I couldn't fulfill the orders of a house because I didn't have any more spaces around to fill. Good job and congrats for your first Godot game!
Cool game. I really enjoyed it but had to quit before finishing because I rolled 99.999% cakes (maybe a bit less, but felt like that) and I didn't understand how I got more than one wasted time and sometimes lost time even if I did (I thought at least) finish a house. I like the presentation and the idea a lot. Maybe some other mechanic than rerolling would have been better. I'm sure it would have been a lot more complex and therefore not something you can do in a jam. Maybe you can keep working on this. There are a lot of puzzle and dice games on mobile, why not make one out of this? :) Biggest problem was the rules/tutorial part. I'd rather either read those things in the LD entry page or itch.io page or maybe make a separate main menu with a tutorial section. The font was too pixelated and the layout was very chaotic. Got through it though, so no biggie. Nice entry!
Very interesting puzzle game, it felt quite unique. The whole overlay could separate the game components from the instructions. The rules feel quite complex and I wasn't sure, for example, was a single item counted as a demand or not. At first I didn't understand the left side houses indicated the rows available, maybe some sort of clearer indication could work as well. I really enjoy the music.
Good work!
