Very cool game. I'm not a big fan of rhythm games, but I got a lot of satisfaction from this one. The presence of a voice acting combo was especially pleased :)

Really neat concept, nice execution. I didn't get that far since I am currently on a trackpad but everything I saw was really nice!

tinykidtoo 2022-10-05 17:27

I found it hard to stay on beat, not sure if there is any delay issues. I play BPM/Necrodance and remember those having settings to handle delay.

Overall I really like the whole concept, its a lot of fun to circle around backing, well clicking to the beat. I think with a greater scope this could make a really addictive game.

Very cool and beautiful game. The shooting system is difficult at first, but it's even fun

matt-ravenhall 2022-10-05 17:33

Awesome idea nicely executed, well done!

lucas-simmons 2022-10-05 17:34

Really fun to play! Despite being a musician, I don't have great rhythm, but this game didn't seem overly precise.

josephwalker 2022-10-05 17:37

Amazing, extremely fun to play and very rewarding. Difficultly curve is a bit too steep after it becomes a bullet hell but I suppose that is what the upgrades are for on the main menu.

Only problem is that I feel like the enemies bullets are a bit hard to see against the similar background colour which made me lose life very quickly once those enemies were introduced

mudlee 2022-10-05 17:37

Nice one! Got 72 points in the end. Liked the idea to click on the music's beat, what it was incredibly hard. An awesome entry! Finnaly :D Thanks for letting me play it.

Really great little game - I appreciated the weapon upgrades and 'rogue-lite' upgrades after runs. It had me playing for quite a while. I think the main constructive feedback I have is just that after a while having the rhythm always be the same unchanging beat didn't feel like it added that much to the gameplay. It got me thinking it might be fun to require more complex beats to activate specials.

Wow this was sooo good! Very glad I played this :) There were so many good things about this. The gameplay was really smooth, the visuals (even though simple) worked pretty well to convey the point of the gameplay, and the audio was pretty decent. There are a few minor gripes that I'll talk about, but don't take this too harshly because the game was super fun to play in general. I would have liked to see the theme being incorporated more. Every 10 seconds enemies spawned, which I didn't think was very creative. The only time I ever messed up on the timing of the shooting was after the upgrades menu disappeared. This was a little bit annoying, because even though you gave a timer, it still felt unfair when I would lose my combo. I would have liked to hear some other sound effects, such as damage or something similar. It was really hard to tell when I was taking damage. Last thing, but I would have rather had less upgrades that felt more impactful. It was very easy to get to the next upgrade which I felt hindered the flow of gameplay. If you made the upgrades more powerful, but less of them I think this would not have been an issue. Overall wonderful game. It was super fun to play and I really enjoyed my time with it!

Wow! This is a lot of fun! I had to keep playing until everything was unlocked. Thank you for making this! Screenshot 2022-10-05 074254.png

Very cool idea and polished implementation!

The core mechanic was fun, and all the little details you've added (the background, small audio ear candy) really come together to make this solid. The upgrade mechanics help to give it some long-term strategy too.

I found that once I got mobbed I died pretty much instantly, and sometimes I got hit when I wasn't expecting it -- I think the difficulty curve is maybe a little steep w.r.t the power ups (which don't seem to help that much after a while), but all in all this was great fun to play!

I admit that constantly clicking on the beat would probably get tiresome after a while -- I'd be interested to play a version that varied up the rhythm a bit :)

Great job!

Woahhhh what a fun game!! I can't believe you made an entire upgrade tree in the time allotted! Really cool! I loved how the 3rd enemy spawner would make just 1 enemy in a really annoying place forcing you to move in unique patterns. Great entry!

guilloteam 2022-10-07 07:52

The kind of idea I love. Really good game, I love that you get a countdown after picking an ugrade, it helps getting back into the rythm. Nice touch, good job on the entry!

substain 2022-10-07 07:52

Nice concept and good implementation. The final boss seemed a bit too easy. Still, I really enjoyed this one!

lorwon 2022-10-07 08:07

The game is very well made !

What I liked: - The music and sound design ! - All the glow effect. - the gameplay and the powerups, each one is unique and super fun. - The fact that you can use your score to buy upgrades.

Improvements: - Maybe you can make the player a little bit faster, and to balance that you can add some new ennemies ! - Adding different music could also be really cool. It could be nice to be able to choose more difficult beat but with higher shooting rate for instance !

I really enjoyed playing :)

yoko-san 2022-10-07 09:07

Cool game, I like it!

I'm new to these survivor games, but I'm quite used to rhythm games :)

So, maybe this is a new genre for me :D

john-llyod-apolo 2022-10-07 10:00

Awesome game. The music and art are excellent. I like the different upgrades. The whole is fun. Great job.

snappypath 2022-10-07 10:43

The art in the game is beautiful, everything is kept in its own style. The concept is interesting too. Good job!

betovf 2022-10-07 10:58

I find it a bit hard to shoot following the rythm with the mouse buttom but it is a great game. Good job!

tex-killer 2022-10-08 15:32

This is probably the most innovative jam game I've played so far, and one of the most fun to play! It is very addicting. It was kind of sad to stop playing after I unlocked everything. Very well done!

The only things I think could be improved are what other people have mentioned (enemy bullets too hard to see, lack of variation in the rythm) and maybe the penalty for combo breaks. If you break combo late in the game there is almost no chance to recover. Maybe upgrades should also provide smaller benefits when not in a combo? But those are very minor issues, the game is very good. Congratulations!

gabriel-chan 2022-10-10 07:44

Really good work! I love the audio! I think it'd be cool if the sound effect for shooting was more of a bass kick sound! All around well done!

bobo-oh 2022-10-10 08:09

Really cool game! Great music, great art, and a fun gameplay! Congrats!

alaah 2022-10-10 13:56

For a seasoned rhythm gamer this game is too easy, but also surprisingly engaging (maybe because I also suck at top-down shooters). I think it would work better with gamepad controls, but overall I was happy to see how many things you did right. If you decide to keep working on it, I think you're on to a nice 2-dimensional BPM-ish shooter

It's cool to have a choice between weak boons with near-100% uptime and stronger boons requiring a higher combo. I believe upgrades are capped at "incredible" which might be too easy to recover. Another commenter said that losing combo almost certainly means death, but that's really not the case. Right now it's somewhat comparable to a full obsidian set in Necrodancer. More non-combo based (and not permanent) upgrades could be welcome though

A common mistake of "rogue-""lite""" games is balancing their stuff around permanent unlocks. Permanent unlocks are welcome as a gateway for less hardcore players, but the game should be beatable on a fresh save without a hitch, and it is. I think you nailed it!

And of course, audiovisuals are insanely well-made

loiclegrosfrere 2022-10-10 20:40

Interesting concept!

I think the premise of "Vampire Survivors + Rhythm" is excellent, really curious about how that premise would look with a couple of different designs! There's a lot of different directions you could go with just that tagline!

thiefaine 2022-10-11 11:33

The concept is pretty cool, i really like rythm games (even if i usually suck at it) I had some good flow moments, but after each upgrad I had a hard time getting back the rythm Great potential here GG !

enderswype 2022-10-12 13:07

oooooh, my god, i love rogue like games, i didnt expect it after my first death, nice game !!

nakami 2022-10-12 13:30

very nice rogue lite ! I very bad at rythm game so I was happy to see the upgrade to decrease precision I couldn't had finished the game without it ^^

It's very polished as well :)
