I gave you my feedback during my stream earlier today. It's not often you see new ideas, even though Jams are great for exploring them. This was fresh, and despite its minor flaws I really like the concept being explored here. Very well done.

saidrog 2021-10-05 20:38

Woah this is Amazing! I really loved playing this game, why doesn't it have more reviews? Apart from the UI color choice it is fun and well written. I also like the humor. I'm really curious on how you programmed the leaking information system, I was amazed when partial information leaked gets clarified when other phreses are not censored properly. Unfortunatly I didn't manage to finish the full game becase of what I think was a bug that made me hear the censor noise even when the American agent was talking.

The idea is fresh, fun to play an mostly well implemented! Good job!

nicekot 2021-10-05 20:40

For Mother Russia indeed! Stellar voice acting :D

jesper-fyhr-knudsen 2021-10-05 20:40

It's really well made and quite innovative and fun, so really good job. It's possible to "cheat" by just spamming space though, to censor almost everything.

raph-gi 2021-10-05 20:41

The concept is quite fun and interesting. Too bad there is no more dialogue.

malcolm 2021-10-05 20:41

No More Secrets.

maxathon 2021-10-05 20:42

This is woooooooonderful! Funny and original, and you've done an amazing job with flagging the possible leaks in a way that felt fair.

mechazawa 2021-10-05 20:42

Great concept, loving the fact that you have to consider for yourself if something needs to remain a secret

geckoo1337 2021-10-05 20:43

Seriously I like your game - an unusual gameplay with a clever mood. Technically I guess that you used a Text To Speech application so as to generate Rusian voice, and it works as expected, comrad. Maybe you could add a tutorial (I know that you explained the main gameplay), but it is not always easy at start. A good entry ++

der-mondhase 2021-10-05 20:44

I utterly loved the voice acting and the way this game worked! That stereotypical Russian accent was just *chef kiss*. Disturbing American communications had never been so fun! Thanks a lot for having this wonderful idea!

nikolas-simpfendorfer 2021-10-05 20:45

Interesting concept; however, it would have been much better if you allowed the player to skip pass some of the introductory dialogue. Also, I would have liked to have seen how many points I got instead of how many I missed. All in all, I enjoyed this creative game.

gat 2021-10-05 20:46

That was fantastic, such a cool unique interpretation of the concept, with great execution aswell!

13x666 2021-10-05 20:46

Ok, making itch.io refer to the game as "piece of propaganda" immediately deserved 5* humor from me even before I heard your voice, but after I did hear it, ай вонтед ту авард ю твелв старз фор хьюмор инстэд оф джаст файв!

The voice seems to be out of sync with the text reveal, but when you're pressing the button, both the audio and the text get censored at the same time, resulting in different pieces of info getting censored. It's confusing, but I'm sure it wasn't by design: getting those to sync up must've been pretty hard.

But other than that

This is an ingenious concept, I can't get over how much I like this. It's one of these prototypes that make your brain immediately go CLICK as soon as you get the idea, and then you just can't stop smiling because you saw something so original and fresh. I want more of this. I want a full blown Papers Please-style job simulator about just this! Definitely one of my favorite entries.

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 20:47

Commrades! I am happy to announce that our party has proved that this game is absolutely beautiful. Although, you mentioned a problem with batteries def*cit and it can't be published. Commrade Anzopov appreciate your idea and very powerful English pronunciation. That's why your execution is scheduled to tomorrow instead of today.

Bless the Mother Russia!

p.s. listening to full audio again is way too long

mrbell270 2021-10-05 20:49

Great idea and great execution.

Unfortunately, I caught bug: when evaluation started and space was pressed sound of noise did not stop.

Second, it would be nice to skip evaluation straight to results, and tutorial part too.

Game is fun and engaging. Please make more:)

Перейду на русский. Хорошая работа, товарищ. Теперь американцы будут считать, что наше устройство подавления сигнала - простая игра. Они своими руками будут дестабилизировать собственные трансляции. За СССР!

(Rough translation. I say nothing suspicious, no need to translate it. Go on your way. USA forever!)

micheleleva 2021-10-05 20:51

I really like this, the idea is very original and the gameplay is really fun. I would probably add some way to pause the game at the end of each section just to let the player take a breath, but overall this is a good game. Good job!

fre 2021-10-05 21:33

This was *shhhhh* and well *shhhhh*! I leaked just a few *shhhhh* *shhhhh* and found the *shhhhh* ending. Voice *shhhhh* was excellent! Would you briefly explain how you *shhhhh* the *shhhhh* with the text? Is it mapped by *shhhhh* for every *shhhhh* or did you do something smarter?

In any case, excellent job and I loved how the *shhhhh* loop was kept short and *shhhhh*, and fit under *shhhhh* minutes. Congrats!

amikatag 2021-10-05 21:46

Ай тхинк ит ис а вери гуд гейм!

shores 2021-10-05 22:08

Man, I was really getting into it, but at some point the noise sfx glitched out and I just heard noise constantly. But I love the concept, the gameplay, and I love your voice! Great game, really fun!

yellowkamel 2021-10-06 09:51

@saidrog @nikolas-simpfendorfer @mrbell270 @shores Any not stopping white noise sounds you may have experienced should be fixed in the new version I just uploaded. There is also a new "Skip Introduction" checkbox in the main menu in case you dont want to hear the tutorial again. Thank you for reporting these bugs and thank you for playing

yellowkamel 2021-10-06 09:54

@jesper-fyhr-knudsen I made it harder to use that exploit in the new version in case you want to try again :v: There is a "Skip Introduction" checkbox in the main menu now in case you don't want to hear the tutorial again. Thanks for reporting this.

@rein @saidrog @raph-gi @saidrog @maxathon @der-mondhase @micheleleva @fre @amikatag @erikengineengineer @mrbell270 @gat Thank you all for all the positive feedback . Thanks to you I have started considering expanding on this idea. In case I really do decide to do something more with this, I want to be able to notify you all. So I have setup a mailing list. Maybe I will never use it, but just in case I decide to do something with this idea, you will be the first to know. This is the link to subscribe to that mailing list: https://russianconnect.substack.com/

Thanks again you all.

mrbell270 2021-10-06 18:18

@yellowkamel done:)

frozendoze 2021-10-06 20:08

HNNNNNG that voice acting, fricken loved it!

itsboats 2021-10-06 23:49

The most original entry I've seen yet! I love the take on the theme and this was done really well! The only improvement I can think of is a short delay + notification after it does the replay because there were a couple times I wasn't ready for the next segment xD

tuile 2021-10-07 07:14

How amazing was this one? I enjoyed it immensely. - Lovely immersive tutorial. -There was a narrative that was intriguing, amazing voice acting - the UI/game elements that needed the player's attention, definitely got it. - I would change up the scene in some simple but very visual way for the player to be able to see the difference between showtime and evaluation time. - I would also love it if I had a bit more time to absorb the story.

Please keep me in the loop somehow, I would love to help out more if you need it.

yellowkamel 2021-10-07 07:57

@tuile Thanks for your feedback, I am already considering how I will make the difference between Evaluation and Showtime more clear. :white_check_mark: If you want to stay in the loop, about a possible continuation of the idea you can subscribe to the new :mailbox_with_mail: newsletter I setup for this exact purpose: https://russianconnect.substack.com

Thank you for your offer to help. Since nothing is clear and I am first finding out how much interest there really is (via signups for the newsletter for example) - I am not sure how I will continue with this. But maybe I will come back to your offer.

nyles 2021-10-08 06:30

Really different game here and it's awesome. I can see lots of potential here.

nikolay-zapolnov 2021-10-08 08:18

Hahaha, very nice game! I really enjoyed playing it, and the russian voice acting is soo iconic. Did you do it yourself? :)

ollieoa 2021-10-08 08:26

Your game is great!! So unintentionally (or intentionally) funny. It had a very high concept with a very simple mechanic, which I think is a great kind of entry for a gamejam. Great work!

kaytrill 2021-10-08 19:58

I always value games with unique concepts and I definitely love the way the censoring game mechanic. I very much feel like this mechanic might need a good overhaul, but the idea of quickly proofreading something and censoring is both very fun and fun to play.

Personally the whole battery and recharge thing is something I don't really like. Perhaps find a different way to phrase it better, whilst achieving the same thing. OR intentionally try keep certain bits of a message to go through. Intentionally causing miscommunication.

For example "The Soviets at the moment are not very strong!" to have it censored to "The Soviets at the moment are --- very strong!"

t90 2021-10-08 20:24

Wow, that was VERY fun!

God bless Mother Russia!

alexthehuman2 2021-10-09 17:42

One very glaring bug with the white noise within the Jam version - however, there was a fix for it afterwards. The graphics weren't too much to look at - however, it feels Russian in its own way because of that so that simplicity managed to convey the state of the country. On top of that, the theme was implemented as a flavour story added to the censoring game which was really smart actually. The whole game was so immersive I almost forgot to look at the chat! Good job!

simonl 2021-10-10 10:50

Amazing idea and a splendid execution!

The game loop was very simple, but it was enjoyable to play and not boring in the slightest. Mainly because the dialogue was well written (and I just finished a game of Twilight Struggle yesterday, so I'm in the theme :D).

The core mechanic was very stable and there was not a single point where audio was not synchronized with the text. I always had problems with these kinds of things, so…

Very well done!
