I love the relaxing and management aspect of the gameplay. It's a simple, nice and calming game that I will most certainly play again during quarantine. So thank you for that! The art style is charming and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The gameplay is also easy to understand. The music is well chosen too because while it is a repetitive piece is doesn't become annoying after a while. So great job and thank you whoever was in charge of the music!

I really enjoyed playing this game! I loved the art style, and felt like a game I would pick up off steam. I did get a sore wrist from clicking and moving things so much but that's just because I was trying to grow as much as I could at once! Wish the letters used a more legible cursive font as it was hard to read. Would play again and again, awesome work!

What a well put together game. I like the artstyle a lot, that's what hooked me in, and the gameplay is also chill and satisfying. You should advertise this game more!

This was great! One of the best I've played so far. I have to say it was a bit stressful because going to the recipe book doesn't pause the game and thus your plants DIE

The Macron reference was top notch and my friends and I just died. Like our cacti. :cactus:

helenejeanbon 2020-04-24 05:31

relaxing game and cute design :)

really great game with a nice overall aesthetic :D amazing art, amazing music, and cool ideas ! Congratulations !!

yoshify 2020-04-25 17:44

This was a beautiful experience. The art is incredible, by the way. Thank you for the game!

100th-coin 2020-04-25 17:54

Oh wow cool game! I loved the amount of variety this game has. The book is very useful, and then there's the kicker- it doesn't tell you exactly which ingredient is which. If you're dumb like me it adds a new level of (fun) challenge. sure, I figured out what the water and fertilizer was, but I initially confused the graveyard dirt with the pink stuff because I didn't read the entire book, the dirt looked dusty enough to be dust. haha! Cool game, and I loved the artwork!

Amazing concepts and graphics! The game was very aesthetic and fun to play. I only wish that the game would pause once I open the recipe book and that the ingredients were labelled.

Beautiful game :) Unfortunately I didn't get how to plant more than one cactus, which also withered away in no time. I was amazed by all the detail in the game though. Also the atmosphere gave me some Bee and Puppycat vibes. Visually this is really good. It would be perfect if everything felt a little bit more coherent. The objects with a more brownish/thicker outline feel a little bit out of place. Some of this might also be scaling the objects differently 🤔This is just me being nitpicky though lol, it's really cute!

blackmambajesus 2020-04-25 20:57

Good game and interesting concepts. Very chill atmosphere. I don't know if this game was for me though because my plants kept dying lol.

One suggestion I would say is maybe have the names of the ingredients on them. For the life of me I tried everything and couldn't find "loam".

This is a beautiful, well designed and well written game. At the end, it got a bit repetitive - there was some graduation of difficulty, but not a lot. What kept me at it until the end was the story, and wondering what will happen in the end :)

One thing I was missing was a pause button. And perhaps an auto-pause when reading the grimoire, because that was when most of my flowers died. It would be nice to be able to automate things, because the growing gets repetitive after some time, but it is OK for the current length of the game.

Also, you should port it to phones or tablets, this game would play so great on touchscreen.

And as for the WebGL build not working properly (in Chrome). We had the same problem in our game. You can fix it by turning off compression and data caching. In Unity, go to Project Settings > Player > HTML5 > Publishing Settings, and there pick 'Disabled' for 'Compression Format', and make sure that 'Data Caching' is not checked.

I love the graphics it's soooo magical :D The only points to improve i see it's the readability of the letters (the first one has a font that is hard to read), some in-game tutorial not only researching in the book. And also if researching in the book stops the time would be a great help! Congrats for this amazing entry!

andidebob 2020-04-26 17:41

A really cool looking game, but somehow I could never plant anything other than a cactus. I even downloaded the later version from itch. I really liked the graphics and I feel like the game might be really challenging. I hope you fix it in the future (if there even is anything to fix and I wasn't just stupid). Really well done!

nsadie 2020-04-28 21:08

Really great art, very polished and well thought out mechanics!

I would have loved it if the game paused while reading the book and I struggled a bit to read the font used for the letters. I would have loved some tooltips or labels on all the items!

zyow 2020-04-29 19:15

Thank you everyone for your commentary and feedback! It's very nice to see people appreciate our game!

We just added a new version with a pause when you open the book or the letters and some fix.

Enjoy!

That was really fun, great job! Fully got into keeping the plants alive and working towards the next plant. Took me a while to realise I could plant the plants I created, I was almost the entire way there with cactuses and creating them through the book (I'd say it was actually easier than growing the plants with more upkeep). I thought not having the fertilizers, etc. labeled would be an issue at the start, but it became more of a trial and error mechanic. Fully enjoyed it.

kaisean-games 2020-04-30 22:04

Wow. This is graphically one of the best entries this LD. Wow! Just wow!

The only thing that bothered me a bit is the amount of times I've had to open the book to see what's what. But other than that, very nice game.

Beautiful design and well balanced game! I enjoyed playing this. The tutorial seemed a bit long at the beginning (though the game is pretty simple to understand), it would have been nice to integrate it directly in the game, rather than something to read. But I know how long these little things can take... As I read in an earlier comment, the gameplay gets repetitive after a while, but still this is a very nice entry for 3 days of work!

nolanfa 2020-05-02 01:38

It was supposed to be a cute game! I feel so betrayed D: !!!!

I loved it: the graphics are really nice, and the gameplay is clear. I was a bit sad you couldn't use seeds between levels (that each plant only built from plants on the same page), because I had obsessively built up my supply of basic cacti, just in case. It does get a bit repetitive, like others said, but it was really fun trying to figure out which ingredient was which (I died at "unicorn skin" XD), and there was some anticipation waiting to see what the flower of the new plant would look like.

I liked the sound a lot too, made me laugh (I think my favorites are Poudre de Perlinpimpin and Virgin's Tears).

I noticed two small bugs: it happened at least two-three times, that the first seed picked for a new type of plant would not come into my inventory (at least, that the seeds drawer would not re-open); also, on a gameplay a few days ago (maybe you fixed it since) I had ingredients behaving weirdly, like they would get stuck near a plant and refuse to go back to the cabinet. Also just a heads up: in the links to your twitter accounts here, BonjourCatty's is June's.

A very good game! Congrats!

themadprogramer 2020-05-03 09:04

I have only one complaint, why did you bind esc to quit instead fo back? I found myself quitting the game when I was trying to close the recipe book. Besides that figuring out what the regeants were wasn't always obvious, but I actually liked it that way so I don't mind that as much.

You did great with the art, that's a given. I liked just how many different recipes there were, the game is short but packed with content. Nicely done!

jmad 2020-05-06 01:25

Oui. oui.PNG

But more seriously : polished, fun, long & nice playtime for a jam, beautiful, macron, responsive, many different species and all of them are wonderful, suprisingly a story - and it works well... It's a really great piece.

fabula-rasa 2020-05-11 14:35

Loved so much about this game. The earthy pastel color palette is exquisite, graphics are great (and even more impressive for 3 days of work!) and the sounds, as well as the background music fit very well! The crying sound gets a bit annoying after a while but it's the only one.

Gameplay is simple but engaging and the story develops in an unexpected way! I really, really... don't want him to come and see me soon... I think it's time to move my shop!

I have only two quality of life improvement suggestions. First: I wish we could apply whatever we are holding to every plant we want before putting it down and not have to pick up the ingredient every time anew. Second: I wish the book would remember the page I was at under every bookmark (care, recipes) and was opening on that page, instead of the first page of every bookmark. It always opens on the first page of a bookmark and that makes for some unnecessary clicking.

It is completely possible to grow the target plant that is ordered without growing anything but the first plant in the chain. Not that I recommend this kind of gameplay but it is possible. Maybe there could be some way of preventing player from skipping the intermediary plants. Some additional ingredient that is needed that only spawns when you grow each intermediary plant for the first time, for example.

Oh, and I wish ESC was used to close the book.

I say, great job overall! You really should be proud!

Wow, really well done. The art is simply fantastic. I'm slightly in awe because we created very similar styled games, though yours is so much more polished and entertaining! Massive fan of the theme and the game play. Don't really have many other comments, except well done to all those involved :)
