Linux export was only the 32bit. Doesn't run on 64bit (IE almost all) Linux machines with out extra effort. Do the x86 + x86_64 universal export from unity to make sure Linux users can actually play.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD39 → Zombie Rush

@jason-kennedy ok thanks for telling me, I'll do that.
"ZOMBIE RUSH MAC CAN'T BE OPENED" <-- Can't play, sorry.
Fun little game you can pick up on occasion. I like it
Everyone, I updated the Mac And Linux Builds to Universal so hopefully, it should work. If not make sure to tell me.
I like the economy of zombies fuel and damage. They all work together to make the levels interesting. I was able to complete several runs and then suddenly the difficulty level increased in a hilarious way. I found your game very entertaining.
@internetpaulicy Thanks so much!
Yey! It was fun little game :) Zombie Rush_2017-07-31_22-48-39.png
@lawrence Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks everyone for such positive feedback!
Game gets harder with time that's cool, the art works well with the idea of the game, I am surprised with this game is a good game.
The humor in this game is nice, but what I feel is the graphics could be better. Also, the UI is a bit confusing in the beginning. But fun game nevertheless.
The only way I could beat this game was immediately driving to the left or right edge of the map then pressing up, ignoring the damage I took. The limited amount of fuel disincentives dodging the zombies which limits the player to following the "don't bother dodging" strategy.
Your game called me a cheater :O Good job, the tutorial was a bit confusing but not a big deal.
Really fun game, but I think that it needs a little bit more polishing: -moving camera a little bit forward would make it easier and funnier to play; with current camera position view is a little bit obstructed. -adding some animations would make it visually better. -controlls could be better, but are not bad. But except that, you did well :)
Crazy stuff :D Thumbs up for the music. I wasn't sure if I'm doing right, only after reading the comments here. I managed to finish level 3.
Fun little game! The humor was nice. I'm sorry I cheated, but I had to try :p Good job!
I liked the concept of trading off fuel vs health with regards to dodging zombies and moving cautiously. A possible addition to consider is using more fuel to drive on the shoulder or on the grass, but putting some benefit there to balance.
A couple of things bothered me - you couldn't see far enough ahead of you to dodge zombies while staying ahead of the horde on the fastest level. The game calling you a cheater and softlocking for driving out of bounds should have been handled in a way that doesn't require closing and restarting the game. The music also felt random, and was distracting to me.
I also found a bug - the goal at the end of the level is drawn over the ui text.
So. The first three levels are won by holding down the up arrow, and the last level is won by centering the car in the left grass then holding down the up arrow.
I believe there needs to be something else other than static obstacles in order for this game to present a good challenge, such as perhaps having all zombies chase the car with the player having to shoot them (and maybe using your gun slows down your car because you have to aim, or some similar disadvantage).
As it were, the arcade mode is super hard because it's hard to steer around a zombie without doing a completely horizontal move, which can't be done because the horde will quickly kill you. So basically, I think the current game mechanics do not necessarily work for an arcade game.
The car was way to big and the tutorial got too long. After some tries, I just ended up holding down 'W' and praying that there weren't any zombies in the middle of the road.
The graphics were way too harsh on the eyes for me especially those colours. The 'chasing' zombies mechanic was good but the rest of the game felt a bit repetitive.
That was ok, the concept is good but I think it need more mechanics or as @themonsterfromthedeep said, may be some shooting would help. I didn't like the graphics that much but it wasn't really bad. The main thing that I like are the running zombies, they looked funny and added tension to the game. I was expecting all the zombies to be running at me first but was surprised that they didn't. Overall, it was fun but there are a lot of room for enhancements.
The base concept for this game is good, avoiding zombies, saving fuel and keeping your health isn't something 100% new, but lots of things can be built using these concepts and not being cliché! ;) Nice work on your first entry!
I do think your idea has potential, I can see the effort in the visuals and general game style, but there's things you should polish in this game too.
Draw distance, for example, absolutely increases the difficulty in avoiding some of the zombies, specially since you use a centered view on the main car and a kinda zoomed-in camera on it.
Also, the thing about driving outside the road and being called a "cheater". I know, you wanted to add a touch of humor here, but having to close/reopen the game after that doesn't help here and that does bother anybody playing your game, so try to be a bit softer and also add the opportunity for the player to restart the level.
The controls are responsive, but it doesn't feel like controlling a car, it kinda feels like using one of those crane machines, so try to add some tiny details, turning the car and subtle things that juice up the experience! ;)
Just give it a polish, and I'm sure you'll have a really great project here to work upon! Good job on your first entry, Good Luck with your projects!
Hey! You made so much content for your first LD! I wish I've done at least half of this for my first one ha ha! (and it's my 14th…) I finished the 4 levels mode, but I give up on the arcade, I'm too bad at this kind of games, and I die too soon at each try. Well done! _(\*em\* if I could just ask: next LD, could you use a little less contrasted colors, my eyes don't bleed but I had to check them in the mirror to be sure… :P)_
