Oct 3 18:50:17 Claustrazombia ♥ 1 Simple game, but nice job learning the new engine, and fitting in some time to actually make it! Personally I think the sword should be a bit more powerful, or maybe have some knockback - it was really quite difficult 😅 I'm not sure - is there a win condition? I managed to get the red box to be pretty small, but the inevitability of the hoard overcame me 😛
Oct 3 23:12:24 4h 22m Pentomaniac ♥ 2 Nice relaxing music, and the graphics are really cute - especially the animations when you complete a level! I managed to fully complete the apartment and all the mini levels within it, but I found the level afterwards was just way too hard. It became trial-and error rather than puzzle - so even though I tried really hard, I had to give up before completing it, I retried so many different combos on the freezer. Maybe some more hints (or just smaller levels) would have made it more achievable, because I really enjoyed the first one, it was chill 😄
Oct 3 23:47:15 34m 51s Dungeon Junk ♥ 1 Nice little game, I really liked the art style - simple, but it works very well. It took me until the second level to understand the bidding/funds mechanic, but I liked it, means you have to think about trade offs. Would have been great to have some music/sounds to give some more atmosphere - in the context of a Jam, just doing something simple (like recording your pencil scribbling on a page) still adds a lot in terms of player feedback imo. Nice entry! 😄 (I made 366 gold)
Oct 5 22:35:10 46h 47m Cranedemonium ♥ 1 Fun little game, good concept, but for me the timers were way too short. I tried 5 or 6 times on the first timer level, but got too frustrated, since since the containers would often get stuck at the exit! Either longer timers or more forgiving exits would help smooth the difficulty curve! There were also a few times where the container would just oscillate wildly on the end of my hook, and I just had to wait for it to stabilize, which was quite frustrating. I did skip ahead to the last level, which I did enjoy, since the timer was longer so I could have more time playing with the controls. It was interesting to have to dig underneath and find the named containers so put on the belts, and felt like real crane operator work. Some sound and music would be very welcome though. Graphics look cute and suit the game well - it looks nice! Minor comment on the menus - I kept trying to use my mouse, but that obviously didn't work - it would be nice to have some mouse support in them. I did appreciate the level select so I could see more of the game even though I was bad at it 😅
Oct 5 23:30:13 55m 03s Limited Heart ♥ 2 Ha, nice cutscenes, I enjoyed that you really stuck to the jam rules and played every role yourself! I thought the puzzles (while not particularly unique this compo) were quite well made - especially the later ones where you had the big multipart pieces and could deduce where each one had to go. Minor things: I think the music was a bit too loud compared to your voice, and it would have been nice to have a couple of other sound effects in there for moving the pieces about. I was a bit confused by the unsolvable final puzzle, but then I read your itch.io paragraph :P Very cool, unique entry!
Oct 5 23:40:27 10m 14s St. Valdez ♥ 1 The game looks really pretty - the 2d fists in the 3d room worked really well. The sound was also very atmospheric and the mood was nice and tense! But I do have to agree that it took a really long time to dig that hole (given the choice I think I would have crawled through it a lot earlier rather than continuing to punch a wall! It would be nice if there were more stages to the game, because I did like the atmosphere of having to listen out past the sound of your punching to tell whether you had to be subtle. Nice entry!
Oct 6 20:55:55 21h 15m S.P.A.C.E. Ltd. ♥ 2 Ach, I died after many levels (lost count) just falling off the bottom & was annoyed to see that I'd have to start all over again! But only annoyed because I was enjoying it! Well designed maps with the cool helper robot mechanic. It all looked very pretty. The background music nicely suited the game, it's a shame there wasn't more sound to go along with it. The Movement felt good, and nicely predictable - and floaty to fit the space vibe. The shields felt a bit underpowered since when you use them, you lose them. It seems like the best tactic was probably just to get 5 upgrades for the max scrap value, then go all in on collecting scrap. Might have been good to have some more trade-offs there in terms of upgrade paths (but of course, it's a Jam, limited time :P). I think general player feedback could be improved. I wasn't sure if my laser was actually 'damaging' the enemies because there was no sound or flash or knockback that make it seem like it was. I also wasn't sure if the 'hold F to get upgrade components' was doing anything the first time, because it looked quite static. I think a tiny bit of work to get some feedback to the player there can go a long way. But overall, nice entry - I enjoyed it :)
Oct 6 21:46:06 50m 11s Hydro Rise ♥ 3 Probably the biggest LD game I've ever downloaded, might be worth trying to reduce the size next time! Was a fun maze game. Not too innovative, but the time pressure from the rising water was interesting and raised the stakes a little, making it feel tense. The lighting/shaders were very pretty, and the music/sound was nice and suited the game. Thankfully I escaped, and enjoyed the little camera swoops at the end - nice job & congrats on your first solo jam!
Oct 6 21:55:06 9m 00s Limited Parking Space ♥ 2 I think this may be many people's idea of a nightmare, not a game 😅 - but I enjoyed it, nicely fleshed out minigame! The sound, music, graphics and general vibe went very well together for an arcadey feel. Pretty cool traffic logic too (although frustrating to be stuck in it!) I find top down driving like this very difficult, especially on a keyboard, but the game had a 'fun' enough feel that it wasn't too frustrating imo. I would love if this could be expanded a bit, like by spaces becoming available and getting filled on the fly, and maybe watching the final walk, so you get a real sense of seeing how badly you did! Nice entry!
Oct 7 00:57:19 3h 02m Dozer Dash ♥ 1 (Note: It took me many attempts to get the game to download, might be worth hosting a copy on github releases too) I really enjoyed that, a cool physics-based game! Took me a bit of time to understand exactly what the bar on the right actually meant, but then I really got into the rhythm of it and had some good fun! Very satisfying when you could get a good run lined up for the special ability. Game looks very pretty too - its a simple style but it works. Only negative comment I have is that the sound of the truck was a bit annoying, but that's a minor thing. Also I'm pretty happy with my score - 273 :) Screenshot 2023-10-07 015336.png
Oct 8 16:13:46 39h 16m If it fits ♥ 1 I wish you had time to implement the 'size indicator'! I tried twice with the size thing in mind, but still got 4 cats found by landlord. Can relate to having to hide them 👀 Nice entry, looks and sounds very cute, and very funny with all the different places you can hide them, there are quite a lot of different animations!
Oct 8 16:21:17 7m 31s My Limited Cell ♥ 1 Aw this is cool - a point and click adventure but in 3D first person. I think it looks quite pretty too, and I enjoyed the puzzle, although its a shame there wasn't more to it. Very nice for a first time use of Godot, I look forward to seeing what you manage in future! One minor nit: I used the download version, it would be nice if you modded it so that pressing escape frees your cursor - I had to Alt-F4 out of the game.
Oct 8 16:38:05 16m 48s Full Circle ♥ 1 This was fun! Quite difficult, but really enjoyable trying to beat my own high score. Took me a lot of effort to get to my final high score of 1 minute! I was hoping to beat some of the other scores on here but I guess I wasn't good enough. I think maybe I would have been better off with a controller. I think for player feedback, it might have been useful to change the colour of the player while they are dashing. It was quite difficult to judge how long to dash for, and how long you were 'invulnerable'. Game looks simple, but pretty, and the music and sound is really nice too. Very nice compo entry!
Oct 8 23:49:42 7h 11m Booty Hole ♥ 2 I managed to get 65 in my booty hole, seemed like not getting too ambitious with size and focussing on the small stuff was quite important - and to not get over-excited because then it explodes everywhere. Simple physics game, but nicely put together with some good music and graphics, and suits the theme. Maybe it would have been good to have some additional sound for player feedback, but I can see how that would spiral out of control. Nice entry!
Oct 10 00:11:50 24h 22m Waterskin ♥ 2 Really great game, I played through it twice and found it very replayable (seems there is enough randomness that each playthrough was different). I *think* I completed it the second time, but the screen just went black with rain, so maybe that was a bug. On my first playthrough, I didn't find any waterskins anywhere, so just died without a chance - maybe that's just life though (although often I found foraging gave me what I needed, not sure if that's just luck or you have coded the odds in the players favour!) I found the stories to be really well written, and the branching and feedback was very nice. Quite a relaxing couple of playthroughs, and the audio and visuals really helped with that! Inventory management was nice, although I found I think the UI could have done with a bit more polish, and maybe some more QoL features like being able to drag an item from the floor into the inventory to replace an existing item, rather than dragging something out first. Overally I really enjoyed this one, glad I stumbled upon it and got the chance to play - fantastic entry!
Oct 10 23:06:23 22h 54m Clockwork Express ♥ 3 First of all, the tutorial was really great at easing you into the game - well done on getting that in for a jam! I thought the level progression was very nicely done. The visuals and music went very well together, and I very much like the style - feels very polished. At times it was very tense, swapping different modules in to try squeeze to the end of the level, it was fun! I couldn't manage to get past level 8 though, the higher speed combined with the difficult level shape pushed me over the edge, and I couldn't get it after a few retries. Considering how many 'fit these shapes into the box' games there were this jam, I think you did a really good job of making this one stand out from the crowd, it feels really unique! Edit: I came back to it and beat level 8! 🎉
Oct 19 22:46:55 215h 40m Garbage Stack ♥ 1 Nice simple-to-play physics game, with some really relaxing backing music and some nice art. Felt quite complete, and I had fun going through a few attempts. I wonder if it would have been possible to polish the mechanic a bit more, like have the items start falling before you move them (like tetris). Some more feedback would have been nice too, to make the game feel jucier. Nice entry!
Oct 19 23:06:05 19m 10s Shwubbo vs the Installation Wizard ♥ 1 Really cool idea, it was a really interesting twist on a simple platformer, and you pulled it off really well! The music was awesome, when I noticed that there were windows sounds used to make up the soundtrack it was awesome. Platforming felt pretty good, but the window itself could be a little bit more frustrating than intended at times, especially when (for instance) it didn't centre on the player, so I couldn't see where I was going. Unfortunately I died on level 4 and then the game crashed, so I didn't get to complete it, but nice entry - and very unique!
