Jan 19 22:07:34 Chronos: Harvest Time ♥ 1 Fun little game with a simple but quickly escalating mechanic. I liked that you managed to get the second enemy in (the carrot shooting one) as it added a nice variety to the gameplay. Got quite chaotic towards the end I managed to harvest 91 after my third try - the circling around the hoard was working quite well for me. I really liked the music, it was well put together and not repetitive. Would have been nice to get a couple of sound effects in there too though. Nice Entry :)
Jan 19 22:33:00 25m 26s Loot Chachos ♥ 0 Nice little game with cute graphics (and a great selection of different plants) and nice music. It was a little unclear to me what the gameplay mechanics were. It took me a while to realise you had to right click to deselect 'current tool' before you could reliably harvest anything. I'm not sure I understood what the purpose of the spade to move plants around was. I also didn't understand the screen getting more yellow - or what harm the animals really did when the plants reached harvesting time so quickly. I also didn't really understand what the lose condition was - I think it would be good to add some extra help text to the game page so we can understand :). But from the few tries I did have, I was having fun trying to understand the mechanics, and its quite well polished with a good variety of content. Good entry!
Jan 20 18:51:27 20h 18m Flush U ♥ 1 That's an interesting take on the theme for sure. I had fun for the couple of games I played. There were quite a lot of people funneling to the same place though, so the best tactic was just to keep running back and forth between the doors to the sewage truck. Would have good to have some more random obstacles or random paths so you have to think more on the fly. I like the music and sound effects - although its a shame the music doesn't play during the gameplay too!
Jan 23 22:48:08 75h 56m Lunar Harvest ♥ 0 Oh my lord that was quite difficult 😅 Those last two cows were quite tricky! Even though it's quite a simple game, I felt like I was improving quite a lot over my couple of playthroughs - learning how to manoeuvre the cows and dodge the weapons with a very slow UFO was fun! I also liked that you managed to get some simple sound effects in (great moos), and the generated cows look good! Nice one!
Jan 23 23:17:15 29m 07s Fading Souls ♥ 1 68:46 :D Totally agree with the other commenters - fantastic atmosphere/mood in the game. The music and audio was great too. It was very tense to play, and a learning experience figuring out what was going on. The sound of the devourers getting nearer to you was very tense, especially after you had already used up all of your sprint to save another soul. Subtle choice, but I like the decision to not leave the score on the screen all of the time, and instead just pulse it - the subtle UI really added to the atmosphere. The controls also were very smooth. Only thing I could find to suggest as an improvement is it would be nice if the edges of the level weren't just a box and were a bit more natural. But overall it's a fantastic entry - nice job!
Jan 23 23:33:42 16m 27s Subnuggets ♥ 0 Very cute graphics - the wobbly plants and lit up sea floor were nice touches - felt like you were underwater. I liked the subtle sound effects too. I had to try several times before I figured out what to do, and I was very close to assuming it was just an unfinished game before I read the other comment - I think some better feedback when you hit with the bubbles would be useful. I understand that you wanted to have some mystery to your game, but it's also good to let the player know that they are on the right tracks :) It was rewarding when you managed to get them though! Also would be good to have some way to recharge your air, otherwise it seems like you can only get maximum 18 beans before you drown :(
Jan 23 23:57:38 23m 56s Beeline ♥ 2 Very relaxing game with pretty graphics. I Made it to max level, there was nice progression here and it was satisfying to gradually clear the level and be able to progress with your more powerful bee. I think the music suited the game well, and there was a very relaxing mood. I think the speed mechanic could have been made to be more tactical though - as it stood, I just spun around in a circle to ram at a wall harder if I needed to break through it. But nice soothing game, I enjoyed it :)
Jan 24 23:06:59 23h 09m Harvester ♥ 1 Fun mechanic! Although I do echo what the other commenters said about it getting too fast - it was almost impossible to move around after you got a few speedup powerups. It was fun though - strangely tricky to get your head around the movement, but satisfying when you get the hang of it! For me in firefox, the screen shake and warp effect didn't work properly in fullscreen mode, but it looked great when not fullscreened - nice effects! Would be good to get some sound in there - everything else is nicely polished!
Jan 24 23:15:48 8m 49s Skin Birds ♥ 1 This was good fun! Reminds me of the playstation eyetoy games I played on the PS2, but more advanced! Very fun little game, and you really nailed it with the voiceover and music - it all suited very well! Managed to get the 3S++ score which I was pretty happy with - sitting back from the webcam helped! Only minor thing is that I think it was a bit unclear whether or not you were reloaded (or maybe that's just it wasn't detecting my thumb trigger - unsure) Nice Entry! :D
Jan 25 00:09:36 53m 48s Chewberries ♥ 1 Nice little game - I think the first level was a little hard: it took me a few attempts to pass it, and then when I did, I quickly got the hang and completed the game. I liked the music, and the graphics were very cute - good use of 2.5D too. I thought the combination of busyness of keeping the berries apart from each other and harvesting and planting worked well. I had fun - nice game!
Jan 25 19:48:08 19h 38m Overgrowth ♥ 1 Great game - very relaxing! I was expecting it to be a lot more complex after looking through the rules, but in reality I think it was quite easy to learn, and there was a very natural progression when learning about the newer cards. I thought the gameplay loop was really good - there were decisions to be made about so many things like managing your freezer, laying out cards in your flowerpot, and queueing things up. I really enjoyed doing all that with the immediate 'fighting fires' that was going on. I think the game tended a little bit on the easy side though - I completed it before I had even played all of the plants, and it didn't really get much harder as time went on. Maybe if some of the plants were even more difficult (like negative effects on both sides not just to the left) there would be more of a challenge. I also missed the UI telling me that a plant was thirsty or almost withered a few times, so would be nice to make that more obvious (I think it's more fun to lose because you fucked up rather than because you missed a notification). Making the grow time more obvious may also make the decision making more fun, and less of a battle against the interface. But really great game - I enjoyed playing it a lot!
Jan 25 21:10:38 1h 22m Harvest City ♥ 1 There's quite a lot of city there and the game does look pretty so nice job on the sprites! I also like your UI and the idea of focussing more on the 'salesman' side of farming was a nice take on the theme. Also good on you for submitting anyway even though you didn't get it all as you wanted - hope you meet your expectations next time!
Jan 26 23:51:20 26h 40m Grow Golf ♥ 1 Really excellently polished compo game - very impressive that you managed to put this together in a weekend. It's a simple mechanic but it's clearly very well thought through and is quite unique. One of the best that I've played - nice one!
Jan 27 00:52:06 1h 00m Organ-ized Crime ♥ 1 Really liked the level design - there was an impressive amount of different layouts and it had a really cool retro look. The gameplay was also really cool and there was a good ramp up in terms of difficulty. I think fewer people would have been better in some of the later levels - the puzzley aspects were fun, but running around and asking people if they drink got a bit samey. Overall its a very impressive amount of content and a fun game - nice!
Jan 27 01:12:42 20m 36s Nightmare Containment ♥ 2 The map, graphics and lighting are very pretty, nice job. Music was well picked too. The main game mechanics felt a little tedious because you ended up just restarting again and again and then rewalking the map, but it was a pretty tour! I felt it was quite tricky in that the map is very large, and you have to basically walk all of it to find the different items, and then remember that and go for your 'final playthrough' and hope you don't accidentally lose track of time. But maybe with some refinement or some helpful UI that could be alleviated a little. One bug that confused me for a bit was that doors sometimes didn't open properly for me - confused me for my first few attempts when I couldn't get into storage. Either way, nice entry - there's a lot of content here!
Jan 27 01:25:43 13m 01s Delivery Boy ♥ 1 Simple game, but I liked the lighting effects and it was good looking in general. There was a good mood and the music and rustling footsteps played a big part in that. I know the aim is to find the supplies, but some kind of UI help would have been useful to make it less just wandering. Also the game was tiny on my screen so I had to lean in really close - in godot you are able to make it scalable with a locked aspect ratio and even keep the pixel graphics by going into the project settings. Nice and relaxing game though (even though the context of war isn't relaxing), but it comes from an different perspective. Nice entry :)
