Oct 4 23:02:54 Path of the Pogo ♥ 3 Delightfully difficult game, I lost count how many times I took a warm bath in the first pit. I did manage to get myself stuck on a ledge and no amount of wiggling could get me free, had to restart (was near the beginning anyway so no big loss). Path Of Pogo Stuck.png While I don't think many would use it a restart button might be handy, will help for the times when stuck like this, and for those who wish to grind for a PB or just want to nail that first bounce.
Oct 4 23:31:13 28m 19s The Vortex ♥ 1 The pacing of introducing new mechanics is great but, the difficulty spikes on level 4 and 6 are big! And I'm not just saying that because I kept jumping into spikes to dodge the ghosts. Personally I enjoy difficult platformers such as this one. I agree with the above comments about needing coyote time, the last level is very hard without it.
Oct 4 23:45:38 14m 25s -Y- ♥ 1 Beautiful art and an interesting idea to use only symbols instead of text. It is a great start to what could be a more involved story. I hope you continue to work on this game and expand it further.
Oct 5 00:08:23 22m 45s Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope ♥ 1 Hectic game. The controls are very awkward and I couldn't move along the tightrope after losing the knife, but that most likely just me using an old mouse. Love the sound effects, the helicopter noise had me in stitches.
Oct 5 01:49:22 1h 40m Warhead Stroll ♥ 1 Beautiful artwork and a clever idea having the player be the dog. It took taking my time through the levels and 31 deaths but reached the end. Most deaths were on the boss battle which in my opinion is spot on for difficulty. Once I learned how to dodge each attack, how to use the sound cues to know whats coming and had finished reading the text it felt very satisfying beating him.
Oct 5 02:28:57 39m 35s Unstable Flight of a Potato ♥ 1 You were not kidding about the controls being hard. Took me a while to figure out the directions are relative to the potato's orientation. I'm also glad you suggested the gamepad. I can't begin to picture how difficult it would be to control with a keyboard. In the end it is a fun game to play and the googly eyes left me chuckling, even after I accidentally caused myself to fly the whole way back to the start. What I'm trying to say is to me the difficulty made this fun. I'll be coming back to this one to master those controls, I want to see the end!
Oct 5 04:57:33 2h 28m UnstableOS ♥ 1 Interesting idea of creating this to resemble a phone OS. It does need some audio, even a notification sound for warnings which might drop out at times. I did get caught out by a couple of the glitches without realising they were a thing (like the burn/dispose button swap). But the age old advice of turning it off and on again helps.
Oct 5 05:15:29 17m 56s c0rrup73d ♥ 1 I like how the glitching levels cycle through each other. After some time I began to recognise which level was coming and move away from the enemies' spawn points. Being able to reset the cartridge to reset the level and health was a nice touch. The only downside was starting the game from the menu. I kept hitting enter thinking it would select the option instead of shoot. This did lead to me having fun with resetting the cartridge on the menu.
Oct 5 06:03:23 47m 54s HONK III ♥ 1 Fun run and gun. Well with my potato of a laptop it turned out to be more bullet time than fast paced. Going to keep a copy of this for when I finally build my PC. It did give me a nostalgic feeling of the original Doom and Quake... but with an option to honk while jumping over an exploding barrel.
Oct 6 01:20:46 19h 17m The Dress Rehearsal ♥ 1 I got the same bug of the hand ability not working getting stuck (was playing the downloaded version). When I switched to playing it on my phone however it worked fine.
Oct 6 01:24:53 4m 07s The Blue Bedroom ♥ 1 An interesting way to tell part of the story of a well known artist. I picked up the razor, knowing what was coming, I just thought "oh no". Between the letters it was fun to try to find all the paintings hidden. Starry Night was a nice addition towards the end.
Oct 6 01:39:20 14m 27s Re:Volt ♥ 2 Good, complex tower defence. I agree with the comments regarding the need for a tutorial. I had downloaded this to play off-line without reading the tutorial text included above. Without knowing how the links work or they way you can use the condenser to regulate the power the game was impossible to pass the first wave. Once I had read the tutorial text above, it just turned into my lack of skill preventing me passing the second wave.
Oct 6 01:48:25 9m 05s Unhitched Isles ♥ 1 Today I learned: I should not be a civil planner in an unstable island in the ocean. I've only tried the Zen mode so far, but I like the touch that each building lost has to be replaced in order to progress. The amount of fishing huts I replaced I'm glad they had no cost in placing them (I like to think the occupants were out fishing so they weren't home when their house washed away)
Oct 6 01:52:32 4m 07s Kei26 - Union Game Engine ♥ 1 A great story of someone trying, failing and eventually learning failure is a thing to be embraced as a part of life. Pity they didn't decide to stick with it and see the failures as a chance to learn. At least that is how I interpreted the story. Wonderfully done.
Oct 6 01:56:55 4m 23s F%$#IN BIRDS! ♥ 2 I'm so glad I got a new microphone so I didn't have to use the inbuilt one on the top of my laptop's monitor. Novel idea using the microphone for the control. I only got a PB of 27ft, after all the attempts to get even that far I'm too light headed to continue. I'll see about getting a new PB later.
Oct 6 04:10:56 2h 14m Deepwell Safety Inc. ♥ 5 The artwork for this is great! Looks so nice I didn't notice the UI bugs until I read the comments above. As for the game play, I work in a warehouse as an actual job. The requirements of being careful of how to stack things and what to put near to each other was done very well here (although I wouldn't normally put a cat next to an RPG for a week)
Oct 6 04:30:35 19m 39s Keep the Pressure ♥ 1 Some audio for button presses and flipping the switches will make the actions satisfying. Otherwise quite a nice time sink for when someone needs to fill a couple of minutes.
Oct 6 04:46:12 15m 37s The Automation Department ♥ 2 I know I'm repeating what has already been said but the art style making it look like we're playing in a comic book was a fun idea and wonderfully done. I also liked how each of the upgrades are shown as ads, clever touch. I did have trouble in one play through where I had the money for one of the bots but it wasn't accepting it when I clicked on it. I had tried the others as well, but it acted as if I didn't have enough.
Oct 6 04:59:50 13m 38s Save The Core! ♥ 0 Nice retro feel to this, the music did keep things feeling tense. Even after I worked out the timing of the alien spawning and was able to fire early the music kept the feeling of "it only takes one mistake". I'm guessing the x button issue was patched as I didn't need to use it to finish the game.
Oct 6 05:18:42 18m 52s Mysterious Mine ♥ 1 You did a good job using the lighting and audio to hit the creepy mood. I usually don't go for horror games so my lack of experience didn't help me here. Once the head found me I was kind of worried in that if I slowed down it will get me but also comforted I knew where it was so it won't jump out at me... and while I was thinking that it caught me. I did get 6 of the switches at least.
Oct 6 06:08:27 49m 45s Fractured Edge ♥ 2 I'm amazed with what some people come up with here. Not only is it a smooth running game which reminds me of Descent but also done on an unconventional piece of hardware. Well done to the whole team. Note: I used the emulator as I don't own an oscilloscope but still amazed.
Oct 6 22:37:07 16h 28m Unstable Adventures of the Space Engineer ♥ 1 The audio and environment really did well in creating a feeling of being alone. I played without reading the entire description so I was wondering if there was something else on the ship damaging it or if the character was really fixing things or not (unstable mind) and where was everyone else? After reading the backstory the feeling of being alone made more sense.
Oct 6 22:59:10 22m 03s Hellbamb ♥ 1 The art style and the audio help set a comical mood. I did take a bit to solve with trial and error. Once I realised how the order effects how high the rocket goes (get the first one it goes a little higher etc.) it didn't take long to solve. If it had a random solution each time it would allow for more replay-ability.
Oct 6 23:41:00 41m 50s The Landscape Hates You! ♥ 3 In all honesty I quite liked this, I enjoyed how the landscape messed up with the movement. I would say it has potential to expand but with what you went through, it'll probably be healthier for you to not to. Game Jams do lead to stress, sometimes too much to be healthy and you shouldn't feel bad if it was too much this time around. There is no shame in admitting when it gets to you and to reach out as you have done. The whole "just submit something" mantra many go with isn't the best one to follow and sometimes it is best to walk away, I've done it myself in other game jams. I think give LD50 a go but don't view it as a sign of weakness to decide it is too much and to take a step back. No game project is worth your health.
Oct 7 02:27:16 2h 46m Unstable Steven ♥ 1 It's an interesting concept to try to get hit as opposed to the normal reaction of avoiding damage, turning it into more of a game of keepy-uppy. Fun game but the music track does get annoying after a couple of failed attempts of breaking the wall.
Oct 7 02:42:43 15m 27s A Hard Pill to Swallow ♥ 1 The intro set the tone of the game and it didn't disappoint. I'm still giggling at the calander/to-do list. The audio did great at keeping it light-hearted and made the times I failed a shot enjoyable.
