| Sep 2 06:53:00 | The Fighting Pits | Getting a 404 error here as well. Please fix it when you can, I also had trouble with a broken link before I realized something was amiss! | |
| Sep 2 07:03:00 | 10m 00s | Greedy Monsters | Those are some really mean bats. It's a fun game, I like the audio, and the graphics are cute too! Controls are a bit tricky to get used to, though. Good job! |
| Sep 2 07:19:00 | 16m 00s | Freddy | I quite like the random village generation and the leveling up aspects, but as others have said, dying as soon as you destroy a house and a knight pops up is a bit unfair. I also think some music and/or extra sound effects would help. Additionally, some more purpose for the player would be neat, since the game is basically a village destroying sandbox to get gold (which you can't spend!).

On the whole, it's a nice package for a compo submission! |
| Sep 2 07:31:00 | 12m 00s | Rampage Quest | This really needs a tutorial. XD Being rough around the edges is normal for a compo submission. The game is quite interesting when you get into it, and I could see a very good product if you take it further from here! |
| Sep 2 07:38:00 | 7m 00s | The Monster In Control | The concept sounds intriguing, so please update your link with the data folder alongside the executable so we can play it! |
| Sep 2 07:52:00 | 14m 00s | You are a monster | Normal people run away from you, but the cops just stay there as you attack them. Are they cops from The Walking Dead? XD

The game is great! I felt like it could use some winning (or losing) condition, otherwise it's just mindless eating (which is still fun in itself!). I really like the graphics too. |
| Sep 2 08:05:00 | 13m 00s | City Monster | Had to open Unity in order to playtest the project since there's no executable. I like the idea of being a large monster stomping on people, and the combo counter is a nice touch. If you can develop the game further, I'm sure it will be great! Boa sorte! |
| Sep 2 08:16:00 | 11m 00s | U r teh Munstur | The way you jump feels a bit anti-gravitational, and you can double jump to great heights, which I'm not sure is intended for comedic purposes or not. It's a funny, silly game, and it fits the theme perfectly, somehow(?)! |
| Sep 3 03:38:00 | 19h 22m | Blob | The game is really cool! The graphics are charming and the music is great. It could use some goals to achieve but I understand it's a sandbox game.

Taking it further, I could see a very interesting game where you explore areas and control all kinds of monsters. |
| Sep 3 03:48:00 | 10m 00s | M-M-Monster | Given the tiny timeframe you had, and the limited tools available (I mean, MS paint!), this is actually quite nice!

I'm sure you will make a terrific game next Ludum Dare, when hopefully you will be a lot less busy. |
| Sep 3 04:50:00 | 1h 02m | Slime Quest | Great job making a JRPG in 2 days! The graphics are cool too, though it was tough and I couldn't make it to the end. I would very much enjoy a post-jam version with better balance.

On a sidenote, the game froze my laptop when I closed it, no idea why. |
| Sep 3 04:54:00 | 4m 00s | Dragon Devour | A creative take on the Snake classic. I also think the dragon moves a bit fast, but the person actually moving around to escape from you is a nice touch! |
| Sep 3 05:10:00 | 16m 00s | Fuzzy Horde | For some reason, it's pretty hard for me. XD Those turrets kill my fuzzies too fast.

Other than that, this game is great, specially since it's a compo submission! I am impressed! This game really should get more attention.

You should consider improving on the things you didn't have time to finish (like the audio and the lack of a treasure) and putting up a post-compo version, for the sake of completion. :D |
| Sep 3 05:36:00 | 26m 00s | You are the Monster | Very clever game, and excellent sound effects. XD I like the art too. A fun and very solid game for a solo entry! |
| Sep 3 05:43:00 | 7m 00s | Mega Maria | I like the graphics a lot, and the game is good arcade fun! Not a huge fan of the loud audio, but overall it's a solid compo submission. Great work! |
| Sep 3 05:49:00 | 6m 00s | Troll's Bridge | I REALLY like the graphics. It's a shame the game doesn't quite work as intended, it did sound like it might be fun.

I hope one day you'll consider making a post-jam version to show what the game was supposed to be. :) |
| Sep 3 05:56:00 | 7m 00s | Do not burn me | Ouch, you die really fast in this one. But it's fun and making people burn is quite satisfying! XD

Also, congratulations on your first finished LD project! A compo submission in Java on your first try is a big deal. I hope you'll keep participating in the next ones, good luck! |
| Sep 3 06:06:00 | 10m 00s | Scare The Shit Out Of That Kid | I think the problem with the music is that you play it again every time the game restarts, but the previous instance of the song is still playing, so it turns into a mess after a few retries.

As for the game itself, it fits the theme perfectly, and I enjoyed seeing how the slug monster hides in very object. :) Good work. A bit too difficult though, a cue for when the character will turn around would be great. |
| Sep 3 06:09:00 | 3m 00s | You Are The Monster | Unfortunately, the link does not seem to work. :( I hope you'll fix it soon so we can play the game. |
| Sep 3 06:16:00 | 7m 00s | Sitting Ducks | Haah, very interesting take on the theme! I really like how the game looks, but I can't seem figure out who is the monster other than through sheer luck. Are there any clues, or is it intended to work this way? |
| Sep 4 21:34:00 | 39h 18m | GH4ST | Lovely concept and idea, I really enjoyed it. A whole new take on a classic. And I did open up and check your source, very well written, specially considering the time frame for the game making. |
| Sep 4 21:39:00 | 5m 00s | Minotough | I agree with other commenters here, it degenerates to luck in a level in the end. Frankly, the idea is great, but the decisions right now involve quite a bit of guessing. One could argument that 1 on 1 fighting in the end also degenerates to a guessing game when you don't know your opponent, but even then I would say that you don't feel in control. You feel like you're testing your luck. The idea of minotaurs brawling is interesting, indeed, just maybe allowing more chance to master the game other than relying on luck would have been better in my honest oppinion. |
| Sep 4 21:52:00 | 13m 00s | Soul Eater | I like how the mood is set and the controls are surprisingly comfortable and refined. I really enjoy playing it, and I like how with simple elements you guys managed to impress quite a good mood.

Also that name is likely to capture many manga and anime fans, eh? Interesting for marketing. The giant enemies also were pretty scary, and the ending ironic and cyclic. |
| Sep 4 22:16:00 | 24m 00s | Separated | This game is simply one of the most beautiful ones in this whole event. The graphics were impeccable, easily one of the most beautiful sprite art games I have ever seen, without any single flaw and with a pixel-level attention to detail. It is hard to classify it as a game, because the actions you have available are tailored exactly to bring a sense of lack of empowerment, to feel weak, vulnerable, like the world is judging on you based on looks alone. Easily one of the best experiences I have ever experienced in such a short game, productions like this makes me question anyone daring to claim a game isn't art. Easier to classify this gem as not a game than as not art. |
| Sep 4 22:18:00 | 2m 00s | Tentacle Rescue : Summer of Love | Irony of having as the only thing standing in between her being violated or not a tentacle monster... Poor Minaru I tell you, bet she is never going to eat seafood again after such an experience! |
| Sep 4 22:21:00 | 3m 00s | Deftly | Great entry, but really big, I had to go play other things while this one downloaded. Impressive amount of assets to use in such a short time, you should be proud of the final result even considering all short comings and the deadline. |
| Sep 4 22:24:00 | 3m 00s | Kiera | An interesting game for your first, you should be really proud. Lovely music, I like the way it sounds. Unfortunately I didn't find anything to do, was it planned? Either the version there is limited or I was unable to find the relics. |
| Sep 4 22:27:00 | 3m 00s | Death Maze | Lovely first entry, welcome to the community. The game plays well, has defined goals, and a good pace. Unlike modern games yours actually makes me want to be a cop and not a bad guy, with them always dodging every shot! Really looking forward to hearing of your next entries. |
| Sep 5 01:04:00 | 2h 37m | The Cure | I love how the effects were made, it really gave me a vibe of a classic black and white monster movie, in which you couldn't really understand what you were and you only knew what your monster side did. Nice touch of a psychological thriller. |
| Sep 5 01:10:00 | 6m 00s | Hidden Invaders | A nice set of mechanics, the clean graphics add to the experience. I know how challenging it can be to keep a vision of a game constant with such a big team. I like how the design of the stage is procedural as well. (Or seems so at least) |
| Sep 5 01:12:00 | 2m 00s | Pirate RPG | Our entry in the last Ludum was also an RPG, so we feel your pain! RPGs seem very simple to implement but truth be told they are full of small traps for implementation. Anyway, great job in the implementation and solid entry! |
| Sep 5 01:14:00 | 2m 00s | Who's The Monster | Simple game, but good action. I loved the camera tricks and the fact this time I didn't only feel like I was a main character that was a monster, but rather that I was playing the antagonist. |
| Sep 5 01:19:00 | 5m 00s | Gorgon Zoë | I love the name of the game, punny pun is punny. The game is interesting, I love the transformation idea, so much myentry is also based on it! Your implementation was pretty exciting, and gorgons are definitely under valuated monsters! |
| Sep 5 01:20:00 | 1m 00s | Beat Eaters | Innovative concept indeed. A little bit off the theme, but seriously interesting idea, I could see this developed as a complete game. |
| Sep 5 01:23:00 | 3m 00s | Ghost Haunt | Too bad you guys didn't finish it, it is great already. Quite a worthy entry. I like the concept of human vs. ghost, and the gameplay idea is interesting. Lovely graphics. |
| Sep 5 01:26:00 | 3m 00s | Campaign Trail OF BODIES | Your writing style is a killer one, very creative idea, and I really like the structure behind your idea. I understand very nicely the connection in between monsters and politics. Side by side I tell you.

Your writing style is oddly appealing, I can't tell why but I really enjoy it, so much I played the game more than once just to see how you worded everything. |
| Sep 5 01:43:00 | 17m 00s | No Credit, No Problem! | It is amazing how even bureaucracy becomes fun in a game. Games are that powerful. I can easily see the parallel in between this and papers please, and it is a welcome prospect. The game feels so complete it is hard to believe it is to be a Ludum Dare entry, feels like a complete game that took weeks to be created frankly.

I really don't feel like a monster though. I mean sure I ask absurd taxes and lock desperate people in dire need for money on 84 month tortures due to absurdly high taxes, yes. However, truth be told I am actually a lowly victim of a financial system trying to also make a living, the real monsters are those that make the economic turns that impactful on the working populace without giving any support or letting their society crumble due to personal ideological beliefs or plain old corruption. Not me. But still fun game! |
| Sep 5 01:48:00 | 5m 00s | Dark is evil | The idea is interesting, I love the idea of using darkness as a weapon, stealth is a fun thing and it allows you to feel like a true monster. I like how you implemented things very much, though I found it hard to move, with obstacles being almost indistinguishable. |
| Sep 5 01:51:00 | 3m 00s | Aglæca | I love the fact you used literature extracts in your game, a touch of art in games is something I always enjoy. Also love you went through the effort of making everything procedural. Simple but addictive. |
| Sep 5 01:54:00 | 3m 00s | Benched | Now this is someone I never labeled as a monster myself, but indeed I know how many girls find the guy sitting on the bench and feeling like he is significant quite the monster. Interesting implementation of an innovative kind of monster, the social arsonist with a glass roof! Maybe making strategy for insults more clear would be better if you decide to take this idea on. |
| Sep 5 02:08:00 | 14m 00s | Maiden Voyage | The animation of the game is seriously amazingly well finished. Made it feel like an almost finished product honestly. Too bad I didn't get my cookie but still the game has a simple theme that is easy to grasp. Some collision issues here and there but nothing that beats such an amazing graphical prowess. |
| Sep 5 02:11:00 | 3m 00s | Wastelands | This game should indeed be developed. The concept is great and I would definitely buy a finished product with this prospect. Too bad you ran out of time, but still it is with things like this we learn the most about our limits and our competencies. |
| Sep 5 02:15:00 | 4m 00s | Demonsterization | Fun and simple. At first I thought the gameplay would be simplistic. But now I know for sure, it is the kind of gameplay with few actions but with a fun outcome! Feels fresh and fun. And special points for doing all of that in pascal, I definitely wouldn't be as brave as you were sir! |
| Sep 5 02:20:00 | 5m 00s | The March of the Dropped Band | I wouldn't call this a game. It is innovative. It is definitely fresh. It was well done in what it proposed. But I wouldn't call this a game, it doesn't have the conditions of what I could call a game. Still seriously very well done, hard to believe this is a first entry, you know your tools very well, I am sure I will be hearing a lot about you in other Ludum Dares if you have all these skills. |
| Sep 5 02:27:00 | 7m 00s | You Are The Monster | Honestly, the take to using The Monster like you did was rather creative, indeed fits the theme. However I didn't particularly enjoy the way the audience bar was implemented, I feel it gets in the way more than it helps. Which is a shame, the graphics in the game are interesting as heck, luchadores is quite a theme to play with, and if the bar didn't feel like it was randomly shooting from very low to high values and it was more obvious how it works, it would benefit the game immensely. |
| Sep 5 02:46:00 | 19m 00s | Road To Hell | Hello! A fellow Brazilian team here. Glad to be rating a game from our peers! I will be blunt for starters: I don't see how this game makes you a monster. You may of course crash and die but that also makes you a victim of your own actions. Sure it is senseless destruction but considering hitting anything is prejudicial in the game, the only monster-like thing I did was to make cops' cars crash every time. I love the graphics and even in a team it is impressive you guys pulled nice graphics this fast, and also worked your procedural content generation pretty well. I am really impressed and think you guys should be proud of it. It feels like an almost finished product, and look it is just a Ludum Dare entry.

Also, I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but I personally condone the practice someone claiming to be in your team is doing. It isn't hard to notice him posting the same message on many games, and inviting others to play your game trough it. Guys just keep in mind that as long as we pull unethical movements just to get more reviews in our games, we have no moral ground to criticize anything in our national dirty crumbling political scenario. I am not letting that affect my rating, don't worry, just please refrain from doing that in the future. Fairplay is what keeps games fun, even games of making games like a Ludum Dare! |
| Sep 5 02:54:00 | 8m 00s | Monster Doodle Battle! | This game is awesome. Simply put. It feels like a play with a childish fantasy. It is extremely well executed. It has customization, support to joysticks, a great mood and scenario, different aspects for your fighter depending on your selected part. Multiplayer. Definitely you guys should be proud, it feels indeed like a childish fantasy coming true. One of my personal favorites of the Ludum so far. |
| Sep 5 03:00:00 | 6m 00s | Monster Creator | Too bad for that bug in unity. I know just how nasty a limit we didn't know in our tool can be when an idea is being implemented(A bug or not), just hope you can report that bug to Unity Technologies soon to get it fixed.

And a shame it stopped you from finishing it. I really enjoy what you did with the concept, with a good freedom and time you could have honestly made it skyrocket. As it is now it is indeed a proof of a nice concept, the controls may not be as tight as they would be in a finished product but still it is something to be proud of. Can't wait for the bug to be finished and you to grow interested in the custom monster idea again. |
| Sep 5 03:02:00 | 2m 00s | Monster Tinder | The idea rocks! Not only you're a monster, but one as shy as I am. Tindering monsters is truly a winning concept, you will have me downloading it as soon as it is out for android! |
| Sep 5 03:10:00 | 8m 00s | Frankenbunny | This game is quite awesome. It feels surprisingly finished and polished. I love the stealth mechanics, and how the simple fog of war handles all the darkness in a way it also becomes part of the challenge. My entry is also a stealth game with a different take to yours, so I know just how hard it is to implement stealth in such a time frame. So amazing work! |
| Sep 5 03:12:00 | 2m 00s | Grunx | Your spriting was awesome. I really love your style, as a spriter I honestly know when I see a commendable clean and expressive style. Too bad you couldn't do more than the graphics, but those graphics pretty much scream for a post compo version! |
| Sep 5 03:15:00 | 3m 00s | Bird of Prey | Simple, direct approach. I don't feel a monster here as much as I feel as a carnivore with a great appetite, but I feel the movement of birds flows well, and I like the fact it feels polished. |
| Sep 5 03:19:00 | 4m 00s | Obamapology: Term 2 | I love the graphical style, I am definitely an advocate of applying different design techniques in order to building the aesthetics of a game. Pixels and 3D aspects are obvious choices, but we can shoot for much higher and diverse like you guys did. I love the touch on politics, and I feel games as a medium should discuss and satirize any themes, including politics. Oh and a final feel. I feel the game is pretty cool and one of the games that made me laugh the most here! |
| Sep 5 03:21:00 | 2m 00s | God has a system | The funny thing is me and my friends were discussing just yesterday the concept of the world working like a gaming engine, and some celestial game designer handling things trough small bits of information in something akin to a program language. Would suck to be a deity if you still have to work with a terminal like that. Couldn't last long in it but had fun! |
| Sep 5 03:25:00 | 4m 00s | Stomp City | Simple, you can't really go wrong with mass destruction! Some collision issues here and there sure, but still something enjoyable on here. |
| Sep 5 03:28:00 | 3m 00s | Orochi | Unfortunately since the game's link seems to be written wrong or the game was deleted from the Google Drive account it is in, it can't be played. A shame. |
| Sep 5 03:39:00 | 11m 00s | Meet the Monsta | Easily one of the best games in this competition! The graphics are perfect and show a flawless execution of a style not conventional. The soundtrack, the SFX, the gameplay, all superb. I had some issues with the controls sure, but it is a minor issue if you compare the quality of all that was accomplished here. Easily one of the best entries in this whole competition. |
| Sep 5 03:52:00 | 13m 00s | Justice Five | Fun idea. I love the concept of you being the one being chased by the heroes. When you're on the other side that you start to realize things such as how super costumes feel weird, or how heroes aren't exactly ethical in many of their tactics either. Who is the hero and who isn't isn't always obvious! I like the fact there is a moral decision after every battle and how it impacts your ending. |
| Sep 5 04:17:00 | 25m 00s | Monsters Under The Bed | Fun game! I love the idea of a different FPS game, where you're a monster living in a childish environment. The concept is really awesome, the graphics are great, and if the game had procedural levels I could honestly see the game flowing for a long period without being annoying. A great approach to the concept, one of my favorites here. |
| Sep 5 04:21:00 | 4m 00s | M.O.N.S.T.E.R | This game is rather complex, I am impressed at it. I will be honest in saying that was a stretch to try to leave the theme while still being in it. I mean, you're a migration? XD But still the idea is pretty nifty, I could seriously see this being finished and with a great commercial success ahead of it. |
| Sep 5 04:28:00 | 7m 00s | Master's Treasure | The game is simple but fun, I like the cleanness personally, and it isn't an obvious fact that in between protecting the treasure and your own health it is better to protect the life, after all the money can be recovered afterwards...

Oh and call me weird but the sprite looks so much like Yogi Bear I am giving you two extra stars for humor for free! XD |
| Sep 5 04:31:00 | 3m 00s | Feed the Beast | Unfortunately the link isn't available, I wonder what happened. A shame since based on the graphics I really wanted to give this a shot. |
| Sep 5 04:36:00 | 5m 00s | Predator Hood | I like the pun with the hood and the character animation. The game's controls unfortunately are it's weakest point, attacking feels stiff and one can't have confidence of jumping. Which is a shame, the graphics really are nice, and I feel with more reliable and enjoyable controls this would be a truly outstanding entry. Welcome to the Ludum, and if you guys can accomplish this in a short time and while rushing I assure you, I can't wait to play this in post compo/your next entries in Ludum! |
| Sep 5 04:43:00 | 7m 00s | Pool Parts | I didn't know at the start if this was me being a monster or I was just experiencing an LCD trip. Then I just stopped trying to understand what it was and started to be able to just enjoy the color picks you guys made. If this entry was a Pokemon Episode Porygon would be in it. It isn't what I would be able to do here to even consider this a game, but once again the colors are nice! |
| Sep 5 04:47:00 | 4m 00s | Skulldor - The Burninator | While things weren't clear at first, I enjoyed my ride personally. The Web build worked fine for me even without widescreen, surprisingly enough. The game play could be richer I agree but the idea is lovely and maybe with more resources to manage I could see this in a commercial take! |
| Sep 5 05:10:00 | 23m 00s | Trick and Treat? | I just love the fact you made your intro with voice acting. The gameplay unfortunately is a bit hard, I would like some instruction beforehand regarding commands. The graphics are simply cute, one of the cutest ones in all of this Ludum, and I love the idea of a monster in Halloween eating candies of kids. In fact Halloween is something I would expect more in an event based on monsters. Great creativity and inspiration, looking forward for the next time when you manage to go Compo! |
| Sep 5 05:12:00 | 2m 00s | TRPG-like | A shame it feels it wasn't finished, I see something great here that I would love in a finished product. Here is hoping you guys are considering a post compo! |
| Sep 8 22:28:00 | 89h 16m | HOMUNCULUS | Easily one of the best games in this Ludum, this is a completely new design, hard to believe it was done in time for the Compo. Awesome design, with some information on how to play frankly this could grow to a rather awesome commercial game. I would definitely be in the line to buy it myself. |
| Sep 8 23:02:00 | 34m 00s | Monstrous Bosses | I love the game personally. The idea of working with corporativism, and the connection of bad working pratices with monstruosity, makes me hope neither of the authors of this game has had any bad experiences in a corporative environment! The metaphore alone makes the theme shine personally. Wished it was somewhat clearer how the monsters react to the work positions, and also that there wasn't the gap in time for the handling of workers while firing, I feel it breaks a bit the flow personally. But nothing that makes a great idea less interesting, a great entry you two! |
| Sep 8 23:06:00 | 4m 00s | That Fateful Night | A great, intense experience. It is short but sweet, and I love how the mood is spread in this game. Pixel gore is something quite interesting, and I loved the openness of this experience. Didn't feel like a Ludum game, it felt quite finished in my opinion. |
| Sep 9 00:13:00 | 1h 07m | Frankenstein: Do-It-Yourself! | This idea is dynamic, I love the creativity, the growth using pieces of fallen enemies. My last Ludum entry was also a turn-based roleplay, so I know just how hard it is to implement that set of mechanics for a Ludum. Great job. |
| Sep 9 00:16:00 | 3m 00s | Attack Of The Kaiju | This game is so fun, and the Gameboy graphics are perfect. I would love to play it in my gameboy frankly. Great action, good pacing, the game is very fun. |
| Sep 9 00:19:00 | 3m 00s | Somethingmon Crash | Reminds me a lot of Katawa, and also Nanaca, that base mechanic never gets really old. Sorry you couldn't finish it in time for the Ludum, but good thing you finished it and presented us with this fun gem! |
| Sep 9 00:35:00 | 16m 00s | Escape From Twump Tower | The game is extremely cute, I find it amazingly cute. Not being a North American I can judge the game without a shread of political alignment. It is a fun game, reminds me a lot of those GBC/GBA classics, with a hint of Megaman and also Doki Doki Panic. Agile, very good sprite art, and joking about a politician being crazy never gets old... But I think personally one has to be really truly a die-hard democrat to call Trump a monster. That he sounds like an idiot at times it is a secret to nobody, but still not a monster per see. Still the game overflows with cuteness, of a kind you don't see in many modern games, indie or AAA. |
| Sep 9 00:39:00 | 4m 00s | SLIME CHRONICLE - "Wait, I get to be the hero!?" | SLimes need more love! I love the plot of this game, this sounds like the game Enix couldn't release back in the day if it hadn't merged with Square. Very polished, very cute, very enjoyable, I know how hard it is to make a turn based game and thus I am frankly impressed, seriously a game I would love to see longer with more dynamics in a commercial frame. |
| Sep 9 00:49:00 | 10m 00s | Player Rush | The game is impressive. If there is a game so far I am impressed was made in 3 days it is this one. It is fun, very finished, very polished, many cool details like the way shooting happens, like how units look, how movement flows. You feel truly like a boss. Seriously for me one of the entries which impressed me the most here. And yay 26'th in the world leader boards in a single playtrough! |
| Sep 9 00:53:00 | 4m 00s | Holy Fenrir | Excellent job. I mean it. I wished it was longer, it is hard to believe at times this was an RPG Maker game. Amazing choice for style. This game will be amazing if you guys decide to take it further and finish it and even sell it as a finished product. |
