LD30 — Connected Worlds

Worlds Collide: a tale of many by uprightpath 2014-08-27T18:44:00

I got all the way to the end of the Worlds Connected level, but I accidentally pushed the lower-character into the empty abyss of nothingness to the left of the last proxemity barrier. Tried to restart the level, but I couldn't get out of the options menu. Exit took me back to level select, but selecting a level from there just dropped me right back into the options menu. Also, I noticed that clicking the Restart and Exit buttons also displayed "Clicked!" in the terminal window.

Anywho, it's a neat little game, and I had some fun with it. Good stuff!

Heart Star by AdventureIslands 2014-08-30T19:18:00

Looks great, sounds good too. The surprised expression when the partner fails is amusing. Completed the game in Google Chrome on Windows 7. Worked great.

One Ship Two Ship Redshift Blueshift by 01010111 2014-08-30T19:34:00

I've never really seen a variation on the breakout/pong style game like this before. Pretty cool stuff. Played to Red Victory on single player on a Windows 7 Machine in Google Chrome. Worked great. Loved the soundtrack, too. Catchy tune!

Warp Paint by zatyka 2014-08-30T18:19:00

Played all the way to completion. It's a good game made quick! Nice stuff!

Wheel of Life by Sverik 2014-08-27T18:16:00

Yeah, I see what you mean about the collision detection. I fell through floors two or three times, but not usually during the big important jumps. Overall it was easy to figure out how to play the game, through it took me until Winter until I noticed the effects of each world at all. I think out of all of them, I liked Autumn the most.

I had fun with it. : )

Cyperspace Connect by Xgor 2014-08-28T15:08:00

I had to mark the file as executable manually, but Cyberspace Connect works fine on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit.

I like the aesthetic and the music, and the titlescreen is eyecatching. I didn't realize until after scoring my second point and ignoring the path to focus exclusively on the minimap that it's possible to fly off of the track by not turning in time. I also found it a little interesting/odd/neat that the player can't self-destruct at will by turning off the path *unless* they make it to an existing intersection first.

It's pretty cool stuff and might be worth releasing for mobile devices with some on-screen controls.

(I never got past a score of 2, but I only played for about 10 minutes. :B )

Constellations by Inateno 2014-08-26T16:30:00

I found it pretty interesting to play and fairly easy to learn the rules. Neat stuff!

ServerSphereICE by drakfyre 2014-08-27T19:22:00

Not the most fun to play, but this game is easily the coolest looking entry I've seen so far.

AtomicBomberCats by gwa 2014-08-28T15:23:00

I wasn't able to get a friend to play with me, though I found the general idea of something of a 2D platformer bomber-style game to be pretty neat. I had fun dashing and jumping and bouncing around and collecting powerups and trying to bomb the crates as fast as I could! And I liked that the sound effects fit the cat theme.

That said, I had a number of odd collission detection errors. Cats passing through the inner walls of the middle area, and crates falling through floors at least once a minute.

Finally, the connected worlds theme of it seemed to have no relation to the gameplay. Like if the mario and sonic stuff were replaced with that of a futuristic post-apocolyptic petshop, it'd... probably be even more cohesive.

Still I had some fun with it and played for about 10 minutes even alone. Neat stuff!

Around the Worlds in 80 seconds. by Vinyl Pixels 2014-08-27T19:59:00

I can't play it. I couldn't find a Linux build nor the source code to build it. I may have to return to this another day with my other computer.

A Ludic Proof of the Difficulties Inherent in Finding a Proper Skull by JackDegree 2014-08-27T19:12:00

"Spear make hunt_choice"
I think I might have broke something just then. :B

Anywho, I found it a neat game. Only played it once through. I didn't even know about Twine until now, so it was neat to see that put to use.

The Bifrost Project by Luthwyhn 2014-08-27T19:27:00

Looks neat. Has more a learning curve than most other games I've played, which suggests my familairity bias aren't giving me a skip on figuring things out.

I personally don't enjoy it much, but it's a neat idea and use of theme.

Collision by Alphish 2014-08-27T19:00:00

I wasn't able to run this on my current Ubuntu Linux install. I'll definitely come back to it with my Win8 machine later to give it another go, though.

@Sverik You're right! Sorry about that, I'll go get it fixed ASAP.

Operator by Retl 2014-08-27T18:31:00

@JackDegree I love all the spinning and flipping. <3 I almost wish I had made that the point of the game instead.

Operator by Retl 2014-08-27T18:34:00

@Sunflower Yay for interestingness!

In my mind, the connection would be that the firefly thing would be in a digital world, and the blue character is in a more analogue world. And that the blue one could interact with computers and things to influence the digital realm, and the digital agent yellow thingy could activate devices or robots in the other's world.

Sadly, couldn't make a lot of gameplay to reflect that in time. and I got distracted by the other character's spinning and flipping.

Crystalbots: T-94 wants colors by rynti 2014-08-30T19:05:00

It was a solid action platformer. I felt the levels were a bit too large and that each 'sector' of those levels probably should have had a checkpoint, or been individual levels in their own right. Also, I found the first non-tutorial level to be far more difficult than any of the other levels that followed it because of the initial sawblade dive-move maneuver.
Also, I'm not sure if it's just something about my particular system's timing, but it seemed like from time to time, my character would jump higher even if I were careful about minimizing the length of my tap (I used the W key, never touched the arrow keys while playing this game) which lead to some irritating deaths in the yellow level's sector with the roof blades.
Overall, worth playing.
