LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Just Down Jack by joewan 2021-04-28T12:01:09Z

Loved it, simple and fun and the graphics fit really well. My only criticism would be that getting back onto a platform after falling felt like mostly luck because often there isn't a platform low enough that you can get on after hitting the spikes, so usually I would just lose all three hearts from the same fall without anything I can do about it. Maybe the 'jump' could be made a bit higher so you can theoretically always reach some platform after falling if you still have hearts?

The Moore Contingency by Greet 2021-04-28T15:37:17Z

Very unique concept. It wasn't very clear to me when I'm allowed to add a new control point and when I'm not. Sometimes I could add one on a vertical wall, sometimes I couldn't.

@threeli There's supposed to be a mushroom there that lets you survive the jump up that wall. There's a bug where sometimes it doesn't respawn if you died and then landed onto the mushroom during the death animation. The only thing you can do here is double jump to die, and then the mushroom should respawn again. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for playing!

@mero Made in Abyss was an inspiration :) In level 2, if you eat a mushroom the meter fills completely which lets you gain more altitude later. We probably could have found a better way to present this. Sound would have been great to have! Thanks for the feedback and for playing!

@daaweed Thank you for the kind words! We have a fix for the 'eating mushroom while dead' bug but we're thinking to wait until the LD48 rating period is over before uploading it.

@threeli @copito @daaweed @ryan-dotsikas @filgru @asdehielo If you are interested, we uploaded a 1.1 version that fixes the mushroom bugs and the unintentionally hard jump in level 3. Either way thanks for trying our game and the kind words!

Purgatory by Squeele 2021-04-27T10:12:11Z

Hi, I was able to run on MacOS but I did need to do some command line stuff, like suggested here for another game: https://github.com/ElmarJ/Waterlooplein3D/issues/86

Jupiter Diving by juju 2021-04-28T15:46:58Z

Really cool presentation to create a 3D effect out of some very simple parts! I think it would feel a bit better to play if inertia was a bit lower so the controls would be more responsive.

Digger's gotta dig! by suika343 2021-04-28T11:49:52Z

Very nice! I struggled a bit with accidentally digging down when I wanted to dig left or right, my suggestion would be to require the player to hold down (S) while pressing Space to dig down, or to remove the Space bar and dig automatically with the ASD keys.

Diary of Sedah by azagaya 2021-04-27T11:14:22Z

The combat controls don't really work when you have only a laptop trackpad and can't left and right click at the same time, so some keyboard button alternatives would have been nice. I really liked the atmosphere, the non-standard combat and the lantern mechanic, great game!

Cthulhu's Deep Dream by retrome 2021-04-28T12:12:14Z

Cute artstyle! The distorted lens effect was a bit disorienting to me at first so I'm a bit worried for people who get nausea from games :D, but it's cool to see something I'd never seen before.

Pearls of Wisdom by JHax 2021-04-28T11:42:54Z

Very cute game! Maybe the level could continue for a few seconds after you run out of oxygen (for example with the character starting to sink to the bottom) so it's a bit more visual what happens? Right now jumping to the map screen and getting a message felt a bit jarring to me.

Abysmal by Pulni 2021-04-28T11:36:46Z

I really love the visual style. I felt it was a bit hard to figure out what numbers would be good to increase, it might be interesting to let the player choose between how the creature balances different priorities/behaviours so you can make more specialised creatures (for example a fast one that ignores gathering resources but just explores)

adventure of umesh by smiley405 2021-04-28T11:52:02Z

Great visual style, especially liked the particle effects! I would've liked to see a few checkpoints because replaying the game from the start takes a while and there's so many LD48 games to try :D

Seeker Of Riches by Robert Woods 2021-04-28T11:39:00Z

Cool concept! I think the controls could be simplified a bit, for example rolling the submarine doesn't seem that useful.

Atlantis Gold by SuperFishBoy 2021-04-27T09:52:38Z

The HTML5 web link gives a 404 for me. Maybe it was not yet published?

Unto the Eight by Threeli 2021-04-28T12:21:11Z

Maybe it's just been too long since I played games like the original Zelda but I felt a bit lost, and dying was so frequent it kept me from wanting to explore more. Loved the artstyle!

Abyss by Pandalk 2021-04-27T14:54:00Z

I love the concept and especially the atmosphere!

Blue Square and the Mystery Cave by asdehielo 2021-04-28T12:19:22Z

Very creative game and some of the sections were pretty challenging. I actually liked the limited camera in the parts where you need to shoot balls to find out if there are spikes down below. Maybe it would be cool if the camera was more zoomed out but you only have a small vision range, so you need to use balls to gain information just like you need to do at the end?

l'Abysse by JyriO 2021-04-28T12:23:16Z

Very nice style and mood, you managed to evoke a lot of context in a few snippets of dialogue. Makes me wish there was a bit more gameplay!
