I'm afraid the website isn't loading for me!
nice little godot game
@tristam-macdonald - can you define not loading? Network error, 404 or you get a splash screen but the progress bar doesn't finish?
I see where you were going with this but I can definitely feel the time crunch on this one. The game really needs more item variety and ways to upgrade the shop. The deeper layers should have items that you can't buy normally. My other suggestion is that adventurers should be at risk of dying and deeper layers should take several days to quest. Solid foundation and an interesting theme that could turn into something fun with more development.
@dnp - Yeah, totally agreed, even the upgrades that are there were done in the last few hours before the deadline lol. I think I always tend to bit off more than I can chew.
Some ideas I had that didn't get into the game for time limits:
- Upgrades that give you more stands or foot traffic - Different quests within each level, maybe tailored to certain adventurer classes - A more visual representation of quests being descending deep into the dungeon - Actually seeing the quest locations in a little side scrolling view in the sidebar. - Daily events/modifiers (e.g. "today only wizards are allowed in the forest" or "today knights will pay 20% more")
I did consider also making deeper layer quests slower, but then I'd need to make the rewards match that increased time, and I ran out of time to make the art assets (or item tier logic) to actually give out in those later tier quests.
Fun game I did not find how to place more tables. Well done!
@barnabewild : Yeah, that's a feature I didn't get around to unfortunately.
@argensis DNS wasn't resolving for me at the time, but it is working now! I was able to play for a bit
@tristam-macdonald Thanks for responding!
It's a little concerning that DNS wasn't resolving, given I moved the server about a week ago so any DNS propagation issues should be resolved by now, but glad it worked in the end.
I had fun with this! There were some days where money was tight (after hiring too many adventurers too early) and I had to stock the shelves immediately after they returned or I was going to miss my third payment in a row. I made a hasty choice to fire my best adventurer, thinking it would get me some money back, but that proved to be a mistake. I limped along and finally lost on day 12. Good job!
Very entertaining! Love that game
When I open the game, it appears small and at the top left corner, the details are very tiny to make out and cannot really play, tried to zoom with my browser but nothing happens, any ideas?
@angry-fridge The game is unfortunately hardcoded to 720p, if you have e.g. a 4k laptop, that is going to be quite small. I'll see about publishing a 2x build for those on high DPI/retina screens.
@argensis Ah, I understand, I will check it out later on my PC, should ok then :)
I published a new build with an internal resolution of 1440p: https://games.tonyfinn.com/ld57-deep-guild/2x/
This will make the game less small if you're on a 4k/retina screen. You can also play it on a 1440p screen if you full screen it using your browser controls (the game doesn't have a full screen button)
Lot of great ideas, I think the game is lacking maybe a bit of polish but all the bases mechanisms are quite good,!
A lot of good foundational mechanics, just wish there was more to do other than wait. If there a goal other than "Don't run out of money", feel like it would've held me longer
really cool game loop and premise. i'd love to see more! :)
While ambitious as you already stated it is a great game for such a small time frame. For me everything worked quite nice and flowed well. Great job, had a fun time with the game!
I have played till the day 26. I figured if you close the quest prize page without completing it, you can practically generate infinite items. I figured you can stack the items on the table. Non the less, since the customer number does not increase, you eventually lose. I think the plan was great but it needed to be cut short as game jam games often do. Nice job tough, had fun.
I love a good management game! I agree with the other people mentioning there's a bit too much waiting, but you implemented a lot of good foundational ideas. A fast forward button and a bit more polish might be all it needs
Surprisingly addictive! I just kept playing, hoping to buy all the upgrades. After a while, it seemed like the likelihood that customers would buy things couldn't outpace the daily cost. Not sure why? I also noticed that I was able to collect rewards from quests repeatedly by collecting rewards and clicking the close button instead of the finish button. Nice infinite glitch!
A great game with deep gameplay and progression. However, I felt that quests are completed too quickly, which turns the game into a speedrun.
The background music is excellent! You chose a topic that was very difficult to complete within 48 hours, but you managed it. Well done!
Very nice game. :thumbsup: I did get to day 19. Day 16 just failed, all quests returned nothing, and I never recovered. Took me a few tried to figure everything out. Missed some indicator for what item was selected, also I found the item to be a bit small of the frantic selecting and placing. Amazing what you did in such a short time. :thumbsup:
It was a bit confusing to me to figure things out at first but I found my way eventually! This is one of those games that has a lot of potential to be this relaxed kind of fun at the end of a long work day. I think the concept on itself is really good, but shame time on these things is so unforgiving! Either way, this was a great entry
Played and voted ♥
Cute style, defenetly like it)
Not bad, but i long enough haven't understood what u need to do with items and earn money - UI don't have quite indication about that. After day has started, i've been feeling a lack of speed time. And u have bug - if you take items in quest's finishing menu, close it, but not press end quest's button, and open this menu again - items will duplicate. Gud luck.
Really interesting mechanics with an unusual gameplay. I am not a good player when there is a quest schedule, but I have fun playing. The main idea is clever and well done for a game made in less than 48 hours. You should develop this first release. I guess that it could become a full game with more features. Thank you for your comment about my own project. I wish you the best ++
