Wow I LOVED this game. Probably my favorite so far. It played really well and I do enjoy the upgrades of adding more characters. It reminded me a bit of Brotato.
Also I thought I was done for but managed to turn my game around and beat it with 996 enemies killed at a time of 5:25.

This was great! A tried and true guaranteed for a fun time. I was killing it and then dropped the ball at the last moment, unfortunately. So close! Good job though.
Very cool game. I love survivors, and I think you've done it great. Having several characters as lives is a great idea! Good job!

Completed after 8 minutes, killing almost 800 enemies! This was really really fun. It's essentially the game we wanted to make, but couldn't code fast enough to get there! I loved all the animations, the character designs, the different mechanics. It was just the right amount of balance of difficulty. My favourite mob was the laser dude, so unique - and it made me start to path around the crowd of insects in a different way! The intro art was really great, and the character design of all the mobs and their little animations were awesome!
The scorpion took a TON of hits before dying! Like a surprising amount of hits compared to everything else.

What a fun game! The gameplay is truly amazing. I love how the expiration of the coins encourage risk seeking. The different enemies are really nice and the fact you lose some is really good as well. The beginning intro was really cool, amazing job! I honestly feel like if you gave this game a professional 3D look and sound design it could do well on Steam, the core gameplay is just that good.
Nice game, great variety of attacks, good sprites, the music is quite calm and nice and sfx well fited !
Loved the mood! It is a really fun game, i like the gameplay, i spent a surprising amount of time in it ^^. Great job. It felt oldschool and with that "oldschool fun" feeling to it. Really nice. 1156 ennemies and 8:56 minutes. The art at the start is nice too
Really really liked this game!! The Vampire Survivors / Hall of Torment inspiration is present but the fact that you acquire new people in your team rather than new powers is such a super cool idea - I found it fresh and innovative. The music is great also, and I still liked listening to it even after playing for more than 10 minutes. The visuals are rather simple yet easily understandable (a bit tiny for some objects though) and I found this game super cool overall. Great job!!

@winter2277 The coins expire just to avoid issues with performance. 😁 I didn't want to have too many nodes at the same time. As for a full version, it would be cool, but with my short attention span I can't work on the same project for more than a couple weeks...
@bork-bork I think I took the theme too literally and made all the sprites tiny. 😂

Simple, but addictive. Took me a while to realize I had to gather the coins (was too slow reading), but then it was fun trying to figure out how to get them and which companions would be most effective.

Very nice, Vampire Survivors meets... Snake, I guess? One of those games where your size is your detriment, anyway :)
Feel free to checkout our game from 2015 about Space Invaders + Snake with a fairly similar mechanic to your game! (though it's not a roguelike, and that's a rather important difference)

Highlight of the jam for me. Iterates on the survivors formula by tying each upgrade to be an additional hit-point, while increasing the size of your collision box. Great stuff!

I enjoyed the variety of units and it looks like most of them have a good use case. I'm not a big fan of Sheriff units as they seem to be just an inferior version of a cat that attacks with penetration; although the attack speed might be good against 1 target, it's very rare to focus on a single target. The sword guy was too risky for me as I tend to lose crew members while trying to utilize them. I guess they're sort of a last defense line, not an offensive option? I would prefer them to get hit first then, like they're actually protecting the crowd. :D
Everyone else seem to be cool (to me). I especially like the big circle AoE monsters. They would be even more usable with an indication of how charged they are. Something as visual as mine "cooking" process, lol.
The mine layers are very good, so effective. A top unit for a running chicken tactic (tm) for sure (and I like that tactic). The mine design is good too, very biotechnological.
The bomb and magnet items were so small and not very well highlighted, so I ended up almost ignoring them during my first run. They're OP. xD

@mahobear8 Yeah, it's so easy to make tiny games like that in Godot, and I can also get away with writing shitty code

Wow, this game starts off with a BANG. Literally... who knew that the apocalypse would star tiny creatures?
I love that as I get stronger (more guys) it also gets harder to stay safe (I get so big!) The feeling of progression as you grow your army is really rewarding.

Took a bit, I kept my forces small and strategical. My final strategy was gunning for the bomb and collect items primarily, raking in the coins and getting multiple allies in one go felt really good. I also liked how the game made you feel attached to the characters, you feel the loss when your big sword knight is gone. And of course the original sheriff, he died somewhere around the middle point for me, that was dramatic. SFX and art were great as well, I also like the confetti effect on the victory screen, that was a nice touch. All around great game, very well done!
It's a fun game, but it seemed to me that the scorpion was too long at the end.

@captaindreamcast Thanks! I didn't even think that attachment to the characters would be that strong. I had an idea to insert some banter between characters to improve the story and make it more like a party RPG. But given how frantic the action is, it's difficult to find some spare time to insert the dialogue...
@andriana-mantidfly Thanks for pointing out long scorpion fight. It's probably because I didn't playtest and balance the game enough... THe scorpion could be killed in a few seconds by a large high damage team or you could grind this fight for several minutes if your team is small...

Damn, makes me want getting into rogue-like game development again! Played for a good 15 minutes trying every character combination as much as possible. Fun game and great concept, could definitely evolve into something more complex in a post-jam version. Great work!

man... I'm supposed to be playing and rating games, and instead i ended up only playing this for like 15 minutes lol! I might be biased since im a sucker for roguelites and vampiresurvivor games, But this is probably one of my favorite LD56 submissions so far!
