Well hello! I won't say that the idea is original, but it was interesting to play the game. The game is smooth and responsive, nicely drawn. It was enticing to play, but for me something was missing in the gameplay. Maybe building towers and other enemies? However, you were alone and aiming for the compo, so I want a lot). Great job!

Good job! Love the idea, also found a bug with shop prices, they are not correctly subtracting from the balance

Congrats on finishing! I completed the game - will say that the graphics and design worked well, although the costs of the ants may have needed some adjusting as I ended up buying about 40 in one go then struggling to buy any more for the rest of the game when they got too expensive, which turns the game into something of a point and click waiting game. Overall a strong foundation

I relay like the esthetics and the feeling is gloomy and dark. I dont understand the defender ants that are in the base while a crab is munching away at the nest :( thats when i noticed i can squash it to death with my mouse :P

Impressed to see this as a first solo jam game! the concept is nice and I can imagine furture work on the variety of ants and enemies would make it really fun. But it seemed what I relly cost in the shop is far lower than it display so...屏幕截图 2024-10-08 192819.png

Really nice game, had fun playing it :)
Nice job! As mentioned in the previous comments, the prices might need some adjustments, but the overall experience is solid: the art, music and controls are very good, and you managed to get the game pretty well polished in those 72 hours!
The game is nice, the idea is good. But the game economy quickly broken :)

@skbadger Thank you so much! 😊 I’m really glad you enjoyed managing the elementals and their quirks! It means a lot that you appreciated the music and sound effects too—I had a lot of fun working on those. 🙌

Could probably have used a little tutorial, but it's a fun game nonetheless.

@thatcher-roehl Thanks for the feedback! 😊 I agree, a tutorial would definitely help! I’ll keep that in mind for future updates. Glad you enjoyed the game despite that! 🙌

Cool small strategy about ants. Has some problems with understanding, but okay, i deal with it) Would like to see more content ㅤ/ᐠ - ˕ -マ
Прикольная игра, мне понравилась. Только на волне врагов чуть мышку не сломал

hey @oduvan congratulations on your entry ! I am happy to see that you made it :)
Your game is awesome, I had fun all along. You are spot on with the theme, art is good and you have got a nice moody music.
Gameplay wise I wished to be able to upgrade the damage and healing I deal.
You did really good, congratulations !

I reached the end of the game and I had fun in doing it. :)
I can see future expansions of the game, for example if you would add buildings (defensive towers, healing bays etc.), which would transform it a little bit to a tower defense game.
The theme was fitting and I got attached to my little ants. The game worked well and it was easy to understand the gameplay.
Congrats to your first Ludum Dare project and enjoy playing the other games. :)

The graphics are good, the idea is interesting. A few wishes.
1) I do not understand why the ant soldiers attack one by one and not in a group (as in the last boss, because such a function is in the game). It's funny to see 1 ant with 5% hp attacking the enemy at full health, while the ants around him return to the anthill.
2) The progress bar sometimes covers crumbs, so it would be better if they did not fall in places where there is UI.
3) You could diversify the upgrades, add click damage on enemies or damage from ant soldiers.
CONCLUSION: Even with the flaws, I was hooked and I really enjoyed controlling the anthill, especially giving orders to the little ants. It's a good game!

Thank you so much for your feedback @arscene @lllarso @heat ! 😊 I’m really glad that, despite its flaws, you still enjoyed the game. This was my first project for Ludum Dare, and it means a lot to me that so many people had fun managing the little ants and experiencing the melancholic atmosphere. I’ll definitely take your suggestions and ideas into account to make the game even better! Thanks again for the kind words and support! 🙏

I really liked this game! It's awesome!
Congrats on your first game jam! I was certainly not expecting to hear Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in an ant game!

Good game, but feels repetitive. I like how to discover abilities while playing, accidentally find what click can heal ants.
Very good game! The core loop is sooo good :D Was afraid it was going to be too much micro management at first but it was really smooth just clicking and the ant figuring it all out for themselves :) I love the minimalistic UI, and a nice take on the roguelike genre! Well done
Nice game! The gameplay is interesting and with more time I'm sure it could have a lot of depth. It's a nice touch that you can also interact with the ants and enemies, not just watch passively. The only thing though is that I would accidentally select random upgrade since I was clicking a lot and they popped up under my cursor. In any case, I had a really nice time playing!

I found it very addictive! Not so sure on how to feel about the music choice though, since it felt a bit halloween-ish. Pretty fun game overall!

I was getting nervous about the amount of resource I was letting go at the beginning with ant queues up to 90. Once I got a single speed upgrade, that changed sooo quickly. I would definitely recommend looking into that balance in a future iteration, but it was a fun experience defending against the fire crabs.

In my opinion, this game doesn’t even need a tutorial. Everything is clear, and it plays well. I liked that you can help the ants by clicking on enemies; this kind of mechanic is lacking in similar games.

Really amazing game, the stressful music fits the atmosphere of the game very well, and it is quite challenging. The graphics are also very good. It is really impressive for a first game jam.
The game was fun. I was confused at first as to what I was supposed to do but other than that it was quite good. Maybe a little bit more variety in ants could be fun.
This felt really difficult and unbalanced until I realized I could kill enemies by clicking them. That's a surprisingly awesome mechanic for a little colony builder like this. It would be cool if you had like different weapons you could unlock to kill different types of enemies. Like spraying pesticide, stomping, flamethrower, 9mm handgun, etc. each with their own drawbacks that affected your own colony/ workers that you had to consider.
Cool idea and good job putting it all together in time by yourself!
This was awesome, I had a lot of fun playing it. I only managed to make it to level 9 though  I really liked how you could queue up what crumbs to go after next. My feedback is when the spiders are going away from the soldier ants they seem to evade attacks, and sometimes it seems new soldier ants spawned with a little bit of health and not the full bar. For a solo jammer and a weekend theres always going to be a few small issues so no worries! Keep on making games
I really enjoyed the graphics and the music! I thought overall, the game was pretty cute. It took me a moment to realize I had to click the crumbs, but I really liked it! I'm impressed this was done solo!
Really interesting game! I really like that you can kill enemies by clicking them. And the music has a nice vibe. Kinda felt like an interesting twist on clicker games :D
wow, we pretty much had exactly the same idea, it's nice to see it executed by someone else. well done, really cool game :) a way of restoring the anthill's health would be nice

Эх отбалансить бы, убили быстро. А так добротная игрушка)
Great game! Played a couple rounds before realizing that you could squish the bugs. Would love to see this game fleshed out with different kind of ants and enemies. Super good entry, especially for a first jam!

Good luck with your future game :cowboy:
Whew, this seemed super easy at first and then quickly got HARD! Even when I was like "wow, these level-ups are super useful!" lol
I had fun with this, and enjoyed my time struggling to survive as long as I could :D
Also congrats on your first Ludum Dare!!!! This is a fantastic first entry!
