What a cute little game, I loved the effects when doing spells! The music being tied to the world vitality was a nice touch  Keep on making games!

natablanco 2024-04-17 19:05

Your game is really cute, nice witch and good music.

lenny-rudeberg 2024-04-17 19:14

I tried my best to satisfy the Harvest Goddess but she's just too needy. I do enjoy a good farming game so I had fun with this one, the art and animation is top tier and super cute too.

domenixius 2024-04-17 19:22

Super cute game! I really liked the style you went for! It was absolutely amazing the way you tied the world vitality into the music and the color of the world! It was very relaxing but could have used a little bit more depth to the system, maybe getting the ingredients and then making a pie with them or something. I wish I could have seen my tsundere harvest goddess again... :D

stefan-funke 2024-04-17 19:32

Cute game! Here are my first impressions, hope it helps.

1) I was very overwhelmed by the many things to do. Maybe start the game with a few things only, for example only 1 kind of seed, 1 spell. The rest can come later, once I learned to play the game a little.

2) I don't see any "play again" button, when I'm game over. That would be nice. :) Though imho, I wouldn't put a game over state in such a chill game anyway. It really stressed me and I didn't get much done in the short time. :)

Good job with the game. It shows, that you put tons of effort into it!

lobbienjonsjii 2024-04-17 19:36

Oh this is very cute! I was a bit lost in the beginning, but managed to appease the goddess on my second attempt. It would be cool to have some sort of incentive for offering a larger variety of produce.

cody-holt 2024-04-17 19:44

Definitely overwhelming in the beginning not exactly understanding what to do and how to get vitality back. I think the biggest thing holding the game back is the controls. Constantly having to swap bars and change to different selected spells to do 1 action did not feel good. Once you understand you can just restore your vitality back anytime you want the game becomes trivial and very quick. The game itself is stretched too thin where it looks like there are all of these things to do, but none of it really affects the game or choices you make. I still think it looks great and there's a lot in the game, but I'd like to see it feel better as a game.

nicekot 2024-04-17 19:45

This is beyond cute and amazing. The style, animations, drawing absolutely fantastic!

The only thing I really missed is a proper tutorial stage because it takes time to know the map layout and understand UI/mechanics... and the Goddess is already pissed :D

So yeah, one of the best entries to LD55 I've seen so far. Huge props!

emiliabea 2024-04-17 19:53

The first time I played, I was absolutely trash at it and did not really understand the mission lol. But on my second play I cleared it. I think in the future it might be cool to start with a tutorial so that the player is familiar with everything they can do before getting tossed in. I enjoyed this game a lot once I understood what I needed to do, and thought it was pretty funny in concept. I really enjoyed the character art, but I wish there wasn't dark text on the purple box because it was harder to read, earlier there was light text when it was dialogue, and I could tell it was done to distinguish instructions from dialogue. Overall, really cute and fun game, I really like the creativity, but I do agree with a comment above mentioned about being overwhelmed, just because that was my experience on the first play. It's a really cool game though, great job! :^) Screenshot (74).png

FIRST OF ALL, THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR PLAYING AND LEAVING FEEDBACK <3 This is one of my most ambitious LD projects I think and had to cut out a big part of my idea to make it work in time.

SECOND, IM SO SORRY IT WAS SO HECTIC. It wasn't meant to be THAT hectic, I FORGOT TO CHANGE MY TESTING VARIABLES so the world was decaying very fast since I had been testing end game stuff. It's meant to be about 10x slower haha so there should be more time to wander around and understand the farm layout.

Initially I wanted it to be half farming/gathering from your farm and half about making food in your kitchen and THE FOOD was meant to the offerings to the Goddess. But I ran out of time because of a few issues on Sunday afternoon and I decided to cut it and polish the other parts instead. And you can just restore vitality at any time because I ran out of time to add a cooldown to the spell (:

If I could have gotten the kitchen working, I would have had more machines to process flour, sugar, butter etc and then had recipes to prepare. I'm actually going to add that to a post jam version if anyone is interested in that!

I also REALLY struggle with UI/UX, so I'm sorry about those issues haha I'm not sure how to make it better, maybe I could have hotkeys for each spell directly instead. You can hotkey through the hotbar with 1-9/0 and with R/F so I probably got too used to it during the jam.

@frozenfire92 @natablanco @lenny-rudeberg Thanks for playing :3

@domenixius I REALLY WANTED TO MAKE CAKES AND PIES ACTUALLY, that was my original idea. And I also wanted to have a scene at the end with the Goddess again, but time really hurt me this time 'round

@stefan-funke I wanted to have the seeds be collectable from around the farm but I ran out of time ): but great idea on a replay button, I didn't even think of that haha

@lobbienjonsjii Each type of produce does give a slightly different amount, for example she loves Starfruit the most, and it only takes 10 starfruit offered to win, vs offering 500 of the fruits out of barrels, because theyre each only worth 1! Everything else is somewhere in between (:

@cody-holt It feels empty because I wasn't able to get the second stage of gameplay in, the Recipe crafting, which would have combined all the things you gathered/farmed and the food would have been the offerings. I just ran out of time as always haha

@nicekot I was hoping to add a little mailbox that would have a tutorial but I knew early on I would have time and I meant to add a help page with instructions/controls etc but I FORGOT UNITL JUST NOW that I didn't do that!

@emiliabea I'm sorry about the colours being hard to read! I really struggle with choosing the right colours, it's something I need to get better at!

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE FEEDBACK, it really helps <3 I'm sorry you all had a bit more of a chaotic start than intended!

alexandru-barbanoua 2024-04-17 21:57

The game looks very amazing, the gameplay is very well done, it reminds me of stardew valley, which is very cool, and the soundtrack is still very simplistic but good to work on, being a very cute witch.

nsadie 2024-04-17 22:16

Very nice art and mood! I struggled a little bit to find out what to do or how to do it. It feels like there is an overwhelming amount of options to discover! Maybe could have worked to more gradually introduce some of the concepts. Like first time the goddess wants only something you planted, but then she asks for more next time?

vphyre 2024-04-20 00:34

Very beautiful game! There is a lot of content implemented, and it is impressive. The graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay has a good level of solidity. In addition, there is good narrative content. It took me a little while to understand how things worked, but I managed to play. It's a very interesting result. Your game reminded me of the last ludum dare I participated in (LD52), whose theme was Harvest hahaha.

Good job!

m-kusy 2024-04-21 06:18

That feel when you open your phone and it turns out you were cursed by a vtuber goddess mommy.

I'm not that big on farming sims but I really appreciate the graphics and general vibe of it all. The time constrains do show, but I could see this as a valid entry in the cozy sim genre given time! Great work!

sarafilipa 2024-04-21 18:45

Oh my god, this is sooo cute! Also feels very polished, It's amazing that it was made by a solo developer. Well done!!!

ilbini 2024-04-21 19:44

Really good work with this entry, incredible how you made a stardew valley in a weekend. I managed to complete the game ignoring almost every item and spell so maybe that its my feedback, the visuals and sounds are great, i love how the world turns darker as vitality is low and music also changed. Maybe the gameplay was what needed more polish, try to find use for spells or items and if there is no use, better to keep them off the game, i understand there is a lot of work befind all of that and is tempting to show it for the visuals, but could be confusing to start playing having like more than 10s fruits and boxes everywhere to only need a few. I read the disclaimer so i guess you know what im saying. The scope seemed huge for a solo dev so congratulations for trying out and really awesome work despite reducing the scope, maybe also for next time, think of a smaller scope and then increase it so you get the mini gameplay working right before adding all the cool stuff. Congratulations again on this great entry!

erlioniel 2024-04-21 20:46

I actually checked your game coz was caught by art style, but I guess you opted-out art because of usage of some assets / AI generated art? There is nothing bad with it, just something which might be consider next time doing yourself actually, it's not that hard and quite funny

Regarding the game itself I found the game cycle a bit odd. The grows is too fast to leave the plant and do something else and I spent quite some time figuring out controls. That might be a good room for improvement, if you game requires a 10 popups with controls and explanation what to do - you probably doing something wrong.

Overall quite a decent result for a single person and I'm happy to see what you've achieved on this LD

sarah 2024-04-21 23:53

@alexandru-barbanoua Thanks for playing! Stardew has definitely been an inspiration!

@nsadie I really wanted to add some progression! But I didn't have a chance and rather than just start with 3 seeds I figured I would make it more sandbox-y for the jam and give all the seeds! But in my post jam version, it'll ramp up a lot more gradually!

@vphyre I was thinking about the last ludum dare theme a lot the whole weekend actually!

@m-kusy Yess, the time constraints really got me, but since I was planning to complete the game after the jam anyway, I sorta let it slide haha

@sarafilipa Thanks! I didn't sleep from Sunday afternoon till the end of the jam to get it finished and I STILL didn't get everything done haha

@ilbini I know exactly what you mean! xD I told myself over and over I would build all the mechanics before making the world pretty... I didn't listen to my own advice haha And then I told myself I would get my main cooking mechanic done after the farming, but I got distracted by cute cows and chickens xD HOWEVER, I am happy to say that at this point, a week later I have added the entire cooking mechanic and you can make cakes and pies in the post jam version (its not on itch yet but it will be!)

@erlioniel The art is definitely not AI generated, it's just art that I own but didn't intially make. I spent at least half the jam altering, editing and redrawing the art to fit into my game, as well as adding plenty of new animations but since it's not my own base art, I would never opt in to the category. This is my 20th+ jam, I've made plenty of my own art before, but this jam I was very inspired by a tileset I owned already.

Thanks for playing everyone! After the voting period is over I'll be releasing a POST JAM VERSION with my original vision of the game.

sarah 2024-10-10 00:11

Ive been working on a post jam Wonder Woods game THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE THE LAST JAM, ITS COMING \o/
