Nice pixel art!
👍
Creative idea for the theme! Limited vision I like it
love itttt
Crazy good game, like just insanely good. Props to the devs, especially that Dumitras guy.
@anatol-dumitras 😂😂
I like this game. Lika a pakour but with limited vision and time! So good guys for your first game!
Nice
It's a fun little game but in my opinion needs a couple of smaller things to really make it shine.
For one the background music should change tone the lower your fuel gets to make the player feel some dread when running out of fuel. I think it's called "Shepard Tone", if you used that I think it would really amp up the atmosphere.
The second would be to highlight items of interest. Yes I know that the game is supposed to be dark but I'd hate to miss out on a button or fuel that I really need to pick up to progress. Instead I suggest that you can have a small spark that represents that items are reflecting the light coming from the player. I think that would help a lot to progress the game.
Overall good entry, it looks great but the gameplay needs some fine tuning to really hit it off. Good job!
@mrperry Thanks for feedback! And yeah, Game is not complete. It’s our first time when we do stufs like this, but next time we will do better. Thanks again for tips!
Fun little platformer. Love the pixel-art torch as the character. A ending screen would have been nice.
@nicholaspfo we did not have enough time to do ending screen)
I really like the art direction, I just didn't understand why the lighters weren't reset on the way.
Lot's of potential here. It was fun exploring, and made me want to keep moving through the level. I got a bit frustrated with some of the collision detection preventing my jumping when a wall is next to me.
Simple platformer but feels good, excellent game for start
Original character and story! Simple but funny:)
Lol this game has a similar concept to mine. Very great game!
the pixelart is good, and the platforming is, whilst simple, still fun, however i did find my jumps not being registered from time to time
Pretty fun! Its a little bit confusing that some bricks has no colliders, so I dont know where to sometimes. The interpretation of the theme is the limeted view right?
we had a similar idea but finally we opted for something else, I like the concept and for the time available is fine although as a design recommendation I would not start with a "leap of faith", otherwise I think it has more than enough for a game jam, you could enhance the idea and improve it, this kind of games are usually very fun.
Well done! Take a candy! :candy:
Nice gamee!!!
@esther128 that's how it was planned that some objects will mislead you and make you look for another way. And yes, I interpreted the limited space theme as limited visual space. Thanks for feedback
This is challenging! I can’t say I love having to trial-and-error my way through the level due to not being able to see where the next platform is, but I get what y’all are going for. The art is great—it all reads really well and fits with the atmosphere. Nice work.
I really like the concept of your character's health slowly burning down and i have also envisioned the limited space concept being portrayed as having limited vision. Overall it is an enjoyable game and i really like the challangeing aspect of it. <3
The platforming was fun but the controls were a bit frustrating the wrestle with. Also the lack of check points made traversing annoying especially since items didn't respawn. Overall though the art was really nice and I hope to see it improve!
@rsheepdv yeah, it’s a bug in code, with respawning items, and we had no time to fix it, Thanks for feedback!
A very cute little game, good job with it. Being unable to see very far is a nice twist to platforming, especially when it basically makes you unable to see where to go next. But I like how in many cases, when you did a "leap of faith" there actually was land on the other side
The graphics were really nice and calming, it matched the environment really well as well as the ambient noises, I did notice with one part of the map you could just fall through even thought the blocks were the same as the ones you could stand on, the only thing I would suggest would be to make the screen size bigger, it was hard to really see what was going on when it was such a tiny window, but other than that it's a nice submission
The look, style, and mood of the game are great! I can tell their was a lot of care put into presentation. Gameplay could get a bit stale at times but the overall concept was great and effective. Very well done and great entry!
Had a good time playing your game! I like that the death is valuable since it provides you with information on the map layout. A solid entry overall, but sometimes I was encountering bugs with collision detection.
Simple idea but pretty cool execution. The level design can be challenging, maybe because the controls can feel a bit stiff. But the light consumption rate is not too frustrating and lets you still explore. Keep up the good work!
Lovely art, cool concept, what's not to like??
Nice pixel art :x, just a little bit confused where should I go.
Neat spin on the theme with limited visual space to play with as time goes on. It might be nice to make the background and foreground sprites have more distinct colors since they are often very similar making it a little hard to see where you're going.
Nice concept, could use a little help of guide cause I failed to tell where to go, and it's a bit frustrating due to lack of saving point--or maybe I failed to find them? Any way, good entry and well done!
the art look so great and cute, th game is also good with what it needs of difficulty
I little bit confused where should i go, but nice concept anyway and well made. Juste a suggestion, next time make a gravity a little bit less heavy?
Congrats for your game !
Well done!
Great ambience and really nice graphics. The interpretation of the theme is unique - such a cool idea.
All the darkness and uncertainty makes the game hard. Especially that a fire replenishment once picked up does not respawn after death. That can result in unwinnable scenarios and a need to restart from proverbial zero. Some generous checkpoints would be nice :grinning: .
The controls felt generally fine and polished. Maybe the hero could be a bit slower - it was hard to do any small steps. Jumping felt great though.
Well done!
PS. The Torch hero, let's call him Torchy, is great. Very cool design.
Liked the game of the game atmosphere, the lighting aspect, also sometimes it is a little bit hard to navigate. Sometimes you don't really know where to jump or go and just yolo into the darkness. Some textures were like very similar to the ones you run on, but have no collisions so you jump right through them(like the one group of blocks where the first water drop was), that is a little bit misleading, not sure if that was intended.
Fun little platformer! The graphics are pretty neat - and you got some interaction going on as well, plus sneaky fake platforms!
Would have loved to see a bit more of my surroundings, but that is also a bit a part of the game difficulty I guess. Nicely done!
interesting entry.. cute game i like it a lot.
i'm having a bit of a problem with the controls... while jumping from platform to platform sometimes i run and press space bar and i only need to be a pixel off and the space bar no longer works and i fall down.
which is my fault, but the controls are clumsy and the game can seem unfair to the player (even if it isn't). My guess is that it can be solved by expanding the hitbox of the platforms by a couple of pixels to the sides (but I admit that I don't know if this is an ideal solution). But, for example, the game Celeste solved this problem, and it's about finding several videos.
what I see as a bigger problem is when a platform that looks like a platform but is not a platform and therefore fall when I jump on it, I fall down, preferably into the water. Frustrating.
I like the graphics a lot.
I love the mood of the game. I did have a problem with the core idea being low vision, because blind jumps in a platformer always feel bad to me, and I just couldn't see where I'm supposed to be going most of the time.
I like the main mechanic to keep gathering resources to stay on fire. Maybe it would be interesting to respawn the additional gas cans if the player dies? I fell through a couple of platforms that I thought should have been safe. I'm not sure if that was intentional to trick the player though.
Good graphics and atmosphere. Well-thought-out level and obstacles within it.
A minor issue is that the solid tiles and some of the background tiles are of the same shade, making them sometimes hard to distinguish and forcing players to guess. Background tiles are generally better off being a different shade.
But if that was the intention, then kudos. Although, the level did end up being very challenging.
@boddiul Thank you so much for the feedback! (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。
We initially planned to create a game with three difficulty levels, where the third level would be exceptionally hard. However, since it was our first time developing a game, we didn't strictly adhere to the K.I.S.S. principle, and we ran out of time.
On the background tiles, we added them in the last minute along with the buttons and water droplets and again, we didn't have enough time lmao.
Never thought that Makima out of all people would appreciate our little project (~ ̄³ ̄)~❤️
Amazing game!
Nice little platformer. I liked the idea and design. For more convenient gameplay I would add health potion. Cool mechanic with healthbar.
Cute little standard game. I like the mood. Nice graphics. Maybe the animation is a bit rough. For this kind of LD you should maybe manage a jump that will stop when you leave the jump button. Then you can manage the height for different situations. Anyway, it's a good entry. Nice job.
