I really like the basic mechanic here, and it makes for quite a fun gameplay loop. I did glitch my way through a wall at one point, and another I couldn't release the package I was holding (but I managed to get rid of it by fobbing off a customer), but I liked it overall

kent-lizardo 2023-05-01 08:15

The concept is nice and the delivery "jobs" method is a good way of carrying out the theme! There are some nifty shader effects you're using like the 3d outline and the torch effect. I do think it would be better to focus on other areas of polish; however, since the collision detection of the player feels really spotty at some moments, which I think matters more since players will be focusing on delivering the packages and sorting them. (I also found out you can just walk out of hell, on accident :P) I also think another good area of polish would be the player's movement, since it doesn't really feel as snappy as it could be. It feels like you're delivering packages on ice, which I think takes away from the important part of the game loop.

I do love the package scanner feature! It adds more depth than just picking up and sorting packages. Maybe you could also add more tools like that like a "parcel repackager", or a "fragile shelf", which could add more nuance to the game loop!

Overall, good job on the game!

bad-b4dguy 2023-05-01 08:24

The gameplay is good but there' lack of instruction for what to do in such a fast-paced game. And the collision is bad, many clipping and twitching happens.

ellaris 2023-05-01 09:24

Decent game, but the movement and collision were holding it back. Going through the counter, dropping packages off the map, getting on top of objects, placing packages in seemingly out of reach places. The movement felt weird, the character kept moving after letting go of the button, which was a problem especially when I try to drop a package, but my character moves right into it and picks it back up. I think the package generation was a bit too random, there was a lot of packages and I had a lot of people asking for shovels but I only found like 1.

emily-ttg 2023-05-01 09:29

Pretty solid - but as others have stated the character controls can be a tad buggy and the packages had a habit of creating jittery stacks. All in all though a pretty fun experience while it was working.

tasakasama 2023-05-01 15:03

@tompudding Thanks for your feedback..

@kent-lizardo For lack of time, because basically as the number of packages is limited to 15 I thought to add an exchanger for in case we have too much of one resource compared to another, but I got badly organized :)

@bad-b4dguy Overall the biggest problem with the collision only occurs when 2 inputs occur at the same time, but I think I must have missed something due to the Iso view

@ellaris The joys of random, afterwards I liked the game so that a game lasts about ten minutes no more, and according to the random more or less short, but thank you for the feedback

@emily-ttg Thank you, if you had fun just a little for me it's already won, even if I know there's a lot of mistakes :)

cavedens 2023-05-01 17:18

Took a minute to figure out what was going on but once I did it was a good time. I enjoyed the matching and the storage areas. Would love to have a bit more tighter controls as I handed the packages to the wrong person a few times but overall great concept!

tasakasama 2023-05-01 17:25

@cavedens Thank you for your feedback, yes I wanted there to be this possibility of package error but I admit that some collisions were not precise enough :)

captaindreamcast 2023-05-01 17:34

I got to 28 packages before an array of customers wanting flowers ended my run, but it was ok, most of my reserves had already been used up, I think this was a relatively good score.

28 packages.PNG

It definitely felt like there were multiple stages to the game, the part where you bolster your reserves (the placement area where you can place packages yourself for later was a superb addition, great idea, that helped a lot!) when there's still few people coming in and you only need the occasional object, then the medium stage where you kinda have to start properly balancing the customers and the packages and then the final stage where your reserves are slowly twindling (but you rack up the score in exchange!). Lots of fun! The scanner/placement area adds a cool second layer to the deliver-thing-to-customer formula. Plus since you place the packages manually into their area you give some room for surprises, like misplacing a shovel as a diamond and making a customer mad. At that moment I had truly felt the postal worker experience.

Had a lot of fun moments with the game, great job!

tasakasama 2023-05-01 17:39

@captaindreamcast 28 is a very correct score, in any case it's great that the mechanics were well understood, despite the lack of a tutorial. After all, flower or not, the game is meant to be short-lived.

But if you felt the job of postman well then it's a successful mission for me ^^

rickylee 2023-05-01 17:52

nice! ^^ this is a lot harder than I first thought it was going to be haha, I have 20 diamonds but everyone just wants bones :sob:

tasakasama 2023-05-01 17:58

@rickylee Strangely the bones have never been a concern for me ^^, it's generally the shovels... Thanks for your feedback, and 18 is not bad :)

soloadventurergames 2023-05-01 18:32

this was pretty fun, got A LOT of bones, and kept loosing packages over the edge, or accidentally giving them to the wrong person due to the fluidity of the controls, with some fine tuning this would be a excellent base for commercial game I think.

tasakasama 2023-05-01 18:39

@soloadventurergames Amusing how the comment before lacked bone ^^ in any case it's a pleasure to know that you appreciate :)

dienasty 2023-05-01 20:38

I liked the idea, could be a pretty fun game. The controls would benefit from a bit of refinement

kreshi 2023-05-01 21:06

the game has some bugs but other than that the concept is good :).

alec-cunningham 2023-05-01 23:27

I liked this one a lot! Frantic at first, but through trial and error I slowly figured it out. Obviously it was made in a strict time limit too, so I feel bad complaining about the controls- a bit more polish on the controls and movement, and it could be great:)

chuckiee 2023-05-02 06:04

+1 to controls janky. Otherwise very cool idea, and "you don't know the contents of the package" is a very fitting way of making post office job more hell-like.

kierogi 2023-05-02 09:22

I was vibing out to the sound effects. The level design and game mechanics are solid. I found the controls a bit awkward and did feel a little penalized by them at times against the finessed challenge of discovering what was in the package and managing my inventory. It's a neat narrative over the theme. I'm not sure if there was progression because I was bad, but I can't help but think the character should have turned into a package demon as they delivered more..

wevel 2023-05-02 19:31

I think some of the physics could do with a bit more work, but a fun game (got to a score of 30). I also seemed to get way too many of some types of packages, and not enough of others. Also, as this is a compo game, you need to include a link to your source code.

tasakasama 2023-05-02 20:53

@dienasty The controls are a remark that I often find so I take your feedback into account, thank's :)

@kreshi 48 hours, because we have to make sacrifices, thank you and glad you liked it more

@alec-cunningham Yep the controls could have been a little better, I take note thank you :)

@chuckiee I had also planned a swap machine in case there was too much, but suddenly it simplified the game too much and the games became long and boring and it would have been necessary to introduce a penalty system etc... but lack of time.

@kierogi I clearly don't think I was far enough on the consequences of the distribution, whether good or bad, a roguelike upgrade system like all the XColis could have been interesting with the Evil variant if we are too often wrong ^^

@wevel Thank you for your feedback, and the information about adding the sources I take care them tomorrow :)

smoky01 2023-05-05 04:12

Good and interesting idea. Nice))

beebster-games 2023-05-06 10:31

Sorry bro, but the game would not run on my box. The music starts then it dies

torte478 2023-05-08 14:20

Cool idea! Nice job!

glaas 2023-05-09 11:48

Most of what the others already said; good concept, collisions and movement could use a bit of love. Really liked playing it though!

gamescodedogs 2023-05-18 08:13

Nice mood. You made great amount of work as for compo game! 5 for mood and idea.

tasakasama 2023-05-18 09:37

@gamescodedogs Thank you, and glad you like it :) @glaas Next jam I try to work on the movements to have something smoother :)
