WOW! The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is fun. This should have more ratings!

adrieldf 2023-05-02 14:00

Amazing work! The graphics and sfx are top-level! It was fun to play and try to not break the cargo but I really suck at driving lol

le-goss-du-net 2023-05-02 14:21

Amazing graphics ! but the truck is so slippery i cannot drive without hiting a wall ! I love the idea of not make the books fall ! Good job !

cylvlpak 2023-05-02 14:56

I like the idea, improve the controls a bit and it'll be great!

agameortwo 2023-05-02 15:40

The gfx and sfx are amazing. The gameplay idea is also really neat tying 2d physics simulation to what's happening in the driving part. For me one thing that makes it hard is unfortunately the fact that the car does not rotate smoothly which make me second guess the direction I'm turning often causing crashes. I'm curious what would happen if you replaced just the truck with a tiny 3d model.

frabjous-studios 2023-05-02 15:43

The idea of not letting the books tip over was really interesting. I would have liked an explanation for why these books must be kept in a stack -- some magical reason?

Graphics are spot on :100:. The music was very good but I felt like the R&B vibe might not fit the theme -- (but that could be a matter of taste).

I did feel that the controls were pretty slippery.

I think what this game is really missing is a timer to get the player more invested in reaching the goal on time. It might make it too hard, though. I'm curious -- did you try anything like that during development?

advarsky 2023-05-02 15:51

@frabjous-studios Hey thanks for the comment! The initial idea was to make some timer and set some score for different track time. Unfortunately, I got stuck with building levels and barely made it to the final. :D

advarsky 2023-05-02 15:52

@agameortwo Yeah, I planned to do more car directions, but the time went too out too quick.

bauke-regnerus 2023-05-02 15:59

Love the graphics but somehow couldn't get it to fullscreen. The controls are harder than I expected, I kept riding into buildings. It's a simple game but executed really well.

greenwooddrive 2023-05-02 16:19

Wow thats a GREAT entry !!! That cargo view is such a great (and so stressful) idea !! Hahaha and that special way of handling the truck turning, hahah wow haaha I made it and took a picture of my cargo so everyone can see i took good care of it :P g1.png

heheh oops g2.PNG Great work :)

velvetlobster 2023-05-02 16:31

oh man this is haaaard.

Love the careful driving type of game idea.

The first level could be like going on a straigh line cause that was already very hard for me

antoine-aubert 2023-05-02 16:35

That a really good idea, but it's hard indeed :)

wolfier 2023-05-02 16:38

This was really good. I got to ask though is the turning delayed? It kinda felt like it was, i wouldn't be surprised if you made it so for the challenge.

advarsky 2023-05-02 16:44

@wolfier Haha:D Yeah, I made a little tweaking for the controller - steering use smooth transitions, correct. Think it's fun to have a bit weird controls, otherwise it would be too easy.

fluffy-kaeloky 2023-05-02 16:45

The addition of the cargo view is an excellent idea that gives life to the game !

One negative point for me is that I feel like there is a dissociation between the graphics of the truck and the actual direction you are going in. I think it either needs more sprites in different directions, or you need to actually snap the truck's direction in the graphics direction. This caused me to hit way too many walls, especially since I'm not patient enough to go slow :-)

Other than that, it's a solid entry ! Congratulations on making it to the LD 53 ! :)

advarsky 2023-05-02 16:46

@velvetlobster You got the point - 1st level should be way simpler!

boboch-d-brew 2023-05-02 16:54

The art and audio are super cool ! and nice that you can see the back view ! some gta chinatown wars graphics vibe

aviv-levy 2023-05-02 17:07

Great graphics, fun and challenging gameplay! Took a while to get used to the controls though. I gave up after waking the bear several times. Loved seeing what happens to the cargo on the right

payaosito 2023-05-02 17:16

The amount of times I got stuck between buildings Austin powers style... It was fun and really hard, I got to the second level and by the third time breaking the ice I just gave up, but it's really cute game and once you get used to the movement it gets a bit easier, but it's still really hard to calculate just how much the truck turns sometimes.

brineleaves 2023-05-02 17:35

Fun and cute!! I enjoyed it although the later levels can be a bit hard and especially with how slow the truck moves and how large the maps are, trying over and over again gets a bit tedious. Really like the graphics tho, especially the town!

scrapmetal 2023-05-03 00:57

This looks so insanely good!! I was really looking forward to getting into this one... but also really struggled with the controls. I don't mind the weightiness of the truck, I actually loved that, it felt heavy... but the rotation on the truck felt completely unresponsive at times.

stefan-funke 2023-05-03 10:24

Graphics are awesome! They really are an eyecatcher! :)

Please don't add a timer, like others suggested. It's hard enough as it is. I really don't like being stressed by a timer, but maybe that's just me. (Although it might be a cool gimmick, when delivering certain items, lika a magical icecube, that slowly melts, or something like that)

I think the steering was a bit too hard and unintuitive.

In the magic-wand level there was a strange collider in the middle of the road at the top that didn't let me through. In general the colliders were a bit too punishing, especially the roof tops. I think you shouldn't collide with roofs. :) ariadnes.JPG

quanta-studios 2023-05-03 10:49

Difficult to get the hand of but I really like the design of all the little houses and the complexity of the level design. You can really feel the weight of the truck travelling around too but I think with there should be some more acceleration to counter all of the small adjustments you need to make along the way to get around. Great little game and good luck!

ruslana 2023-05-03 20:55

Cool idea! I like art, simplicity and sounds. Retro mix fitting the theme.

nivbeth 2023-05-03 23:29

The controls were very hard to learn for me, but I love the graphics & music. Would have used bottles instead of books for logical reasons, because why do they have to be stacked the whole time? xP Overall, a really nice & smooth entry :v:

twobitadder 2023-05-04 00:13

I like the theme a ton! I'm always a sucker for that kind of magical/industrial intersection. The art felt very comforting and I liked the "cargo cam." One thing is it did feel like sometimes the object's durability would arbitrarily tank (slamming into a wall won't affect it, but then taking a turn too fast or grazing a building would destroy the object entirely), but I can also understand that being detrimental to a stack of books at least. The bear was a funny idea, too. Overall, a really clever concept and nice execution!

erlioniel 2023-05-04 18:45

I would agree with people above, that it's really hard to get used to the controls, delays and overall mechanic. I do like the idea, tho! Delivering fragile goods in environment full of danger is a good idea overall and you attempted the theme in a clever way with it.

As well I want to point that you have quite a good pixel art everywhere, especially goods & truck back is really nicely drawn. The city is very cool as well!

runicpixels 2023-05-04 20:16

I like the idea of the first level, managing a stack of physics objects and making the right turns, unfortunately, that aspect of the gameplay was gone from the following levels. The art was very nice!

2023-05-05 13:25

Great graphics, challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 53 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. https://youtu.be/3W4lG4WsUMw

chaoli 2023-05-07 06:52

Some colliders on the building roofs are weird, but overall great art and idea!

paveldlouhy 2023-05-07 08:54

Interesting idea and pretty well executed. Second delivery "transformed" into multiple pieces. :D Good job.

katya-pavlenko 2023-05-09 19:32

Loved animation of a little truck!

oscar-berry 2023-05-09 21:52

We had a good time playing your game. The graphics are pleasant, and the concept of seeing the trunk's van is cool. However, it was too hard to control the van, and it was a bit disappointing.

Nice work :smile_cat:

python-b5 2023-05-14 05:33

Fun little game! The controls remind me of my entry, so since I've obviously played my game quite a bit I didn't have too much trouble getting used to this one. I like the view of the trunk.

I couldn't complete level 4; the hitboxes at the top part of the level seemed to be bugged and since I couldn't see where they were, I couldn't find my way through. The hitboxes in general were a bit of an issue, particularly on the tops of buildings, where it's not clearly visible where you'll collide.

I think a scrolling camera focused on the truck would be better than the large zoomed out static one that's currently in place, as right now the truck is quite small and harder to focus on, and the larger the levels get the worse the problem becomes.

Great work overall.
