At first, i thought this was a game about Simo Häyhä, but i wasn't that much disappointed afterall The graphics and SFXs are lovely and the game feels responsive. It fits the theme but there's not a lot to do here, maybe some other interactions would have been cool
Great game! Very introspective and moody. The art style works perfectly for the feel of the game! I managed to stay alive for a while by piling logs just outside of the door.

Ah... reminds me a lot of home.
interesting... very atmospheric. i wish i could have lit the logs on fire... or maybe i just didn't figure out how :D
Awesome game! It was scary too from how you slowly walk the more cold you are, i've found myself inside the shelter with a fire and still getting cold for some reason, maybe i didn't had enough flame power to heat myself up, and the end is sweet, the art also is very good.
Great work here @roboolet

Great art style and some nice character animation. This really nails the theme, I like the feeling when the storm gets worse and the camera starts closing in around the character. It's cool how you can pick up the furniture and burn that too when things get desperate. I wish there was a bit more to do in the game, it'd be great to see an extended post-jam version.
Very good entry, fitting the theme very well, and the graphics and sound effects are very well made 👍

I liked the aesthetic of this game. The wind noise and art style worked for me. I like the concept of collecting wood to stay warm. I enjoy survival crafting games.
I thought maybe I wasn't getting enough feedback about what was happening. After I got the fire going I didn't know what to do but stand in the house. Then I would go outside looking for something to do and the white death would come for me. I see you zoom in when it gets cold but some other way to know your temperature might have helped. Also, some additional activity to perform would give some depth.
The style and mood were the standouts for me. Great job making a game in 48 hours!

Nice art and great mood! I was confused about the interaction, mostly because it’s not clear that we’re "holding" something. Also not sure about the purpose of the axe, but it looks great!

Nice and cozy game, I really liked the slow-down effect the blizzard had on the player. The game reminded me a bit of Don't Starve.

Really nice and moody. The wind audio made it feel so cozy! I liked the art style and I think it fit the game well.
Nice game with simple controls and gameplay. The visuals are nice and the mood fits.

You might want to edit your entry in itch.io for the WebGL version, cause the fullscreen button is hardly visible.
Gameplay: You are creating a kind of depressing athmosphere by the artstyle, the absence of music and the fact, that the player realizes pretty fast, that this is the end. Being able to carry only one item underlines this fact. At some point in time you'll lose ability to recover your axe and you have to sit in the house until the fire wents out.
The game forces you to find the best strategy to survive the longest, by chosing which tree to chop down and which logs to carry and take and when to drop the axe. That adds a layer of replayability.
I can only encourage everyone who reads this to try to explore a little bit ;) Some kind of timer could add an additional layer of replayability, as it would be nice to know how long i survived when trying different strategies.
The controls are straight forward and easy to understand. It's a short game but it still worth a shot!
Graphics: I really like the change of visuals, when entering/leaving the house The fire (while burning) looks cozy and warm and also visually is one of the only color sources in the game, which adds to the athmosphere that this is the only safe place around.
In general we have a neat art style here.
Audio: The storm starts weak but rages over time, that adds nicely to the atmosphere You have proven to show some love for sounds, when adding different types footsteps for inside and outside
1. the end made me mad emotional for no reason why would you do this 😭 (it's great)
2. the game is fun! I love the atmosphere you created and the character's animation, the sound design is great too! I did struggle a bit in the beginning because i couldn't carry my axe along the wood but now that i think about it, it makes the gameplay more engaging. This is a great entry and goes along the jam's theme excellently
Really great entry! In my first playthrough, I was a little confused because it I had a fire at home but I wasn't getting warm. That part was confusing but I figured out on my second playthrough that I needed a bigger fire.
The game looks simple but I noticed a lot of careful detail and love was added to it! Especially the sounds like the footsteps, the ever-strengthening wind, and even those crows. Really gave this game a fitting mood. The stylized snow was great too, along with the very unique way of indicating to the player that they are getting cold. Fits the theme quite well too!
All in all, I am impressed with this entry, you did a great job!

Thank you folks for the comments and feedback. After reading/hearing a lot of feedback i think i might've made the fire-strength mechanic a bit too obtuse, since that seems to be a big source of confusion for a lot of players. And also, the fact that it's not clear what you're holding in your inventory. Other than that, the main feedback i keep getting is that people want *more*, which makes me very happy to hear.
This was my first work that had any amount of emotional energy, so i'm glad the mood came across to everyone well. I don't want to promise anything, but an extended post-jam version seems like it would have an audience.
this game feels like home (Canada). bleak and yet comfy
Very nice. Absolutely love the atmosphere - stylistic graphics, sound effect, mood. Gameplay felt like it was lacking... something, but not sure what. Maybe keep iterating on it, because it's an interesting concept!

Awesome and unique art style you got there :) I like it a lot. I also really like sound effects. Here are few suggestions from my side: - Since you are going for minimalistic GUI (or more of on GUI at all, which I actually like!), don't add some meter for fire strength, but maybe add few drawing of the fire, for example: just smoldering wood - don't give any warm, a little fire - still not enough warm and then a proper big fire that warms the player. That way it will feel immersive and consistent with the rest of the game, and the player would have clear feedback of what is going on. - More interaction would be great. The next obvious mechanic is food. Some deers, rabbits to hunt with an axe. And for example, after that you need to bring them back to the first to cook them (maybe even add a cauldron over the fire). You can signal hunger with sound effects, I guess. - Maybe some danger to run from, wolves or bears.
These are just suggestions. The game is cool as it is. Pun intended :P
Nice game! :) My friend and I had a similar idea! Only there was still a blizzard dismantling the house! Try adding this to your game! I think it will be cool! :)
Love your pixel snowflakes and the way that death sort of closes in on you. As others have said, the great strength of this game is the atmosphere, the mood it instills in the player even after just a few minutes of playing. It's the little details that really express this - the grayed-out letters of the ending dialogue, how the Ah... recedes back into itself, swallowing the ellipses, as if an exhalation followed by an inhalation. Very well done!
