Outside of this nice concept.
As @mborecki said the Q pressing seems somewhat unncessary (you also have to do it A LOT to get up). Fighting definitely felt unstable though, I could see this becoming really fun with more polish! :D
Took me a few tries, but I finally got the hang of it without falling!
Presumably the Q spamming was to create the frantic feeling of a struggle, which I get. Agree with others thought that it was a bit much, there may be other ways to produce that emotion.
Overall, cool system that has potential. Thanks for making it!
Pretty hilarious concept! Props for doing this all in OpenGL and C++, that's a tall order!
nice game! i like the concept of trying not to fall off balance. good work!
I didn't mind smashing Q, but it was a bit too long. I would suggest to set it down a bit. Overall , cute, nice & fun game.
Quite impressive with C++. I was not very good at this game - i always felt when hiting, not sure what i did wrong.
hahaaha, I like how often the protagonist flops over all the time :D
This was ok, I'm not sure I liked having to mash 'q' to get up after falling. I also feel like the hitboxes on the enemy was way to large. Good base for a game here though.
What a cute little game! Yeah, mashing buttons can be hard for some of us, but I really enjoyed the concept. Great work!
On the great debate, I liked that the cost of missing was falling, then having to mash q. It's a mechanic that I haven't seen yet in the jam, and I think it works. The control felt good. It was fun to get the hang of it. It could definitely use another boss though.
My finger hurts! But I won! Like the idea! Love the battle axe robot enemy! Good work! :)
Bumpin' soundtrack
It took me a bit to get the hang of it but eventually managed. I can see what you were going for but I think it's too much of a handicap for players. It hampers fun.
I think the Q spamming is fine, but an indicator, like a bar feeling up, could've helped with that.
Nice to see an irrklang submission!
This was a fun idea, I think a couple things like tightening up the hitbox of the boss's attacks (I often felt like I got hit when I shouldn't have), and agree that a visual indicator for the q-mashing would be helpful.
The range of the enemy is really large, and it felt a bit unfair at times, but eventually I learned to just rush in at the start and spam attack, which manages to work for 4 hits before I get hit back. Pretty neat idea overall though!
Making a game without game engine is impressive! And in only 48h! With a some additions (like different robots that have different weapons and different flaws) it can turn into a really good game. Nice game, and one more time, well done with making a game without a game engine!
Good jam entry especially for not using a game engine. You have a nice prototype that can definitely be polished into something even better. I think button mashing is fine for a jam game but it's not very accessible in general. Keep up the good work.
nice to see that there are still people who go the suicidal route of writing almost everything from the scratch :) been tempted to do that again myself last few LD's, just to see if I could still do that
