very interesting idea and cool graphics.

This game was awesome. You made this in 72 hours? Good job. I love the dynamic music, and all the sound effects. they fit very well. The mechanic was super unique, and your idea was executed very well. I'm glad I played this one. By the way, my high score was 19.

Nice skate sounds! And actually pretty cool that it's arcade skate game, I play something like that first time in my life, thanks!

Dynamic music is lovely. Game is sick. easy to understand and hard to not suck at. I had a good time

I was quite impressed by this fun, arcadey-type game! The pixel-art graphics were as impressive as the music, which is to say very. As for the instability meter, it's more like a simple timer, but the change in your sprite and the music speeding up were a nice touch that tied it in.

I gotta hand it to this guy, that's a lot of walls to faceplant into at 20mph and not stack it once.

What a great game and an absolute masterclass in how to make a satisfying jump.

vulpez 2021-10-05 22:06

Im not really good at this game hahaha but what a great way to explore the Unstable theme! Cool graphics and music, nice job!

chargrills21 2021-10-05 22:16

Great game with good audio and graphics. Very cool submission!

A truly beautiful arcade game. This would have been a quarter-eater 40 years ago.

kromeboy 2021-10-06 18:28

Nice simple one button game. The music changes is particulary good.

Ah, if only crashing into walls was this harmless in real life...

The random goal-point mechanic works well, though I really hated getting down to the bottom (only one path to take...) and then having to go all the way to the top again.

It's interesting that the control gets more difficult as you approach the time limit. I like the tension that provides, since the frantic pace increases as the player's tension/anxiety also increases to match. The simple music pitching up also does wonders with that. The only downside is that for a player who is relatively skilled, they'll spend a lot of time at unstable level 0 or 1 for the majority of the game before things accelerate, which could feel a bit boring. Still fun though!

How did you make / find the sfx for jumping and landing? They work really well!

@ddrkirbyisq

I used an audio recording that i found on freesound and then i edited it in audacity.

Here's the audio i used: https://freesound.org/people/zvance1110/sounds/521086/

I'm happy that you liked the game!

ddrkirbyisq 2021-10-08 20:55

@richard08 Oh wow yeah, that one is a nice find!

badpiggy 2021-10-09 17:52

Really crazy and fun lol. I love 1-button games and this was really cool. I kinda wish I had a little more control over the skateboard though. Maybe a single tap changes direction and holding the button makes you move in a direction. The current setup is nice and simplistic but does lead to be in situations which are a little too hard to control. I also thought that the gap which I could move down through for the bottom floor could have been made a little bigger because at first glance I thought the player would not be able to fit through it. Still though, this a damn fun arcade game. Loved the fact that the player's face got more worried the more unstable things became. Great work on this.

WOW! For a one button game, this was amazing. It was frustrating getting back to the top :D Managed to get a high score of 8, which I see in your screenshot is off by a bit. Thanks for letting me play. Great job

rengo 2021-10-21 19:02

really good game! reminds me of my childhood go to game icy tower so you get a bonus point here and i picked up skateboarding myself recently so thats another point more on the game aspects though graphics are great music is nice but you could make the map bigger

sinci1 2021-10-21 19:22

Fun, simple, and surprisingly difficult. I had a good time, I love the polish too, very nice

python-b5 2021-10-21 19:22

The game was fun and felt very polished! I thought after a while it got a bit boring, as it wasn't incredibly difficult. Maybe your speed increasing with score as well as unstability would help with that. Overall, though, nice work :)

cameron-paxton 2021-10-21 19:26

I really like the animations, particularly once the instability starts to stack up. Also really nice work with the dynamic music! Didn't hear too much of that from other games in this jam.

The gameplay is obviously very simple, but fun and effective. Fingers crossed you get over the 20 rating mark! Good luck!

yopox 2021-10-21 19:31

It is so cool! Congratulations for implementing satisfying movements because I believe it to be the most important part :)

wedgiebee 2021-10-21 19:33

That was a very new-feeling experience for me! Well done! Loved the feeling of getting a deeper and deeper understanding of the level design. Whereas with a fully-controllable platformer, I wouldn't reaaaallly need to know the level that well to be able to play, I thought it was cool how I need to have a solid understanding of the level even what's beyond what I can see on my current screen.

Really cool idea! Meticulously placed platforms! Would play on mobile! Great job!

alks 2021-10-21 19:33

Great game! really liked the simple controls and the music speeding up was so good!

atmospherium 2021-10-21 19:35

Really nice work. I love the combination of simple, one-button controls with exploration and difficult jumps. This game FEELS great, probably one of the best feeling games I've come across in the jam. The squishiness of the character makes such a big difference. Art and sound are great as well, immersive without excess clutter. Great job.
