Cool game, it's fun to do it fast
I love contained satisfying puzzle games like this. Easy to understand, but fun to execute. I find it hard to get above an E so I'm not very good at your game. Added this to a collection so I can play it again later
Wow! That's amazing for 48 hours. I got trapped quite a few times. But I did make it to the bottom once! Rank F though  Really liked this puzzle. Once you start looking ahead and planning it does get easier. Any game that you play a few times and get better is a good game. Thanks for making it!
I really enjoyed this! My best time was 38 seconds and survived with only 1 heart. I really liked that you could see so many turns into the future which made it really fun to plan. Well done!
This is great! Very simple premise, but expertly executed. I loved the art style and gameplay - and the grading system is a great incentive for continued play.
This is a really fun puzzle game idea and executed quite well!
Very nice. I love puzzlers. Good execution. I got all the needed action right away. I needed more time to inspect the right path before actual digging so I started over a few time. Too bad that the new levels where different I would like to have played the same level again. Well done. Good game for a full (mobile) follow up. Keep up the good work.
Very nice game. It has that minesweeper feel.
My highest rank is A, not sure what is the highest.
Edit: Just got SS rank
Also I found a bug, you can get below the playing field and dig away the purple blocks
@awildekans Congrats on the A rank. There's a few ranks even higher, but to reach those you really have to rush it, make no mistakes and also have a bit of luck. With a bit of practise however it's possible to reach them fairly consistently.
Very cool game with an interesting mechanic. Some nice art and sound as well. I didn't really have the patience to actually do well, but it was fun to play anyway!
Really enjoyed the game! Finally got S rank: Screenshot_20210428_001043.png
You came up with a really satisfying puzzle mechanic. For extension I would be interested in a mode where time doesn't count and you get a rank only based on the number of hearts you lose. But the current mode also makes sense, so you can't just think forever.
The art style is great. The rule is simple, creative and fun. Good job!
I was sent here by @pavelc and I'm glad I was. This is a great little experience. I'm going to bookmark this in 'splore' because the mechanic is so satisfying, I know I'll come back to it! This has a wild amount of potential to be expanded: lessening the number of visible future moves, shifting rows right or left after so many turns, and on and on. Very cool experience.
Best game I've seen in the compo so far.
Especially in terms of being unique. I feel like this game had unique game play I haven't seen before. I just went for win, but I'm wondering if there's more strategy if you're going for a highscore.
Untitled.png Well done! really simple, really fun! An endless mode with some chasing mechanic would be fun maybe?
Incredible game! It took me a while to understand what was going on, but I couldn't stop playing afterwards until I go an S rank! The main mechanic is a perfect example of easy to learn, hard to master. I liked pretty much everything, but maybe displaying the optimal solution after playing would be cool? Excellent entry! The post above me beat me by 1 second (and got that sweet 42), but here's my high-score still:

both simple, minimalistic and very cool game! I love that kind of games, it seems simple but it's the hardest thing to create such minimalistic yet interesting games, congrats on that! did you invent this gameplay or is this inspired by a game? if not, that's even more impressive. I also love Pico8 game so there's that too.
anyway congrats, very very cool entry!!

@dotsquare Thanks! Outside of Tetris for the holding mechanic, I don't think there's any specific game I had in mind when it comes to the mechanics. That said, I'm a big fan of minimalistic games as well, so those certainly influenced the design of the game in some ways.
@nekusoul that’s honestly very cool! I love Tetris and always wanted to make kinda my version of it but never had any idea as the game is perfect all by itself, so great job!
Hey! That was really fun!
I just realized after I finished playing: this felt like a fun *puzzle* game but it could actually also be an *educational* game. The format could be used to learn numbers, or could be modified for learning letters, algebra, etc.
The problem with educational games is that you can always tell they are educational content disguised as entertainment software.
Perhaps it's the pico-8 style that gives this game its pure gaming feel...
I think you could be onto something worthwhile if you continue developing games with the format you showed us here
Congratulations on this achievement!
Kann man nicht meckern.

Awesome game! I love those procedurally generated puzzles.
And having a fellow pico8 dev is even better
really neat idea! those equals signs are tricky. first run: dead, what is going on. second run: 77 / E. third: 44 / D. 4th run: 2021_05_04_11_38_31_356_chrome.png
Was that sss win chime ever so slightly different than the others? nice touch
I like how the holes at the top remain between runs, adds a nice sense of realness to the world somehow.
great work! love seeing cool pico-8 games like this :)
@pancelor Congrats. That's pretty amazing with so few attempts. I have to disappoint though. The chime isn't different. At least it shouldn't be. In regards to the persistent holes, that was a bug at first but I also found them to be a nice touch, so the bug was upgrade to a feature.
Really smart puzzle game! I'm not too good at it but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Really interesting take on the theme. Excellent work!
I love the simplicity of this, very cool and novel concept, well done!
