fun game! I really liked the design of the cockroach guys once i walked up and got a closer look at them they are cool. One piece of feedback I could give is that I wish there was some sort of indication that all the enemies in a level have been killed, like maybe an audio sting or the escape hatch starts glowing. Other than that the experience was pretty smooth good work

Great work. The 3d models are cool - I'm especially fond of the angry looking cockroaches! You've created a dark, gloomy atmosphere without making it too dark to see. It's quite fun to play and the mutations mechanic makes it more replayable. I think the main area that could be improved if you had more time to spend on it would just be fleshing it out into a more varied game. Good stuff!

Really really fun! I love the mutations and how they stack and also stay after you die. Only thing I'd ask for is a sensitivity slider as the default is pretty high imo. Other than that, really awesome!

I just deleted my Dropbox about two weeks ago. Now I had to create a new account :D And a tip for the files: I'd recommend to use a seperate download link for the game and a sepearte one for the source. Because searching through these files to find the exe might just take a few seconds but could be avoided :) Now I am going to play the game. Let's go!

- Love the main menu graphics. It feels like a lot of time went into that. Edit after second startup: I think the lighting is much better in the main menu than the room. I understand that the romms must be dark, but you also loose a lot of detail there. - The Cockroach looks great in the main menu. I would therefore have tried to add mor light in the rooms to bring the details out more. - The main menu doesn't mention jumping as a control. Figured this out after I got the first upgrade. - Would be nice to know when a room is clear. - I am currently just spamming my left mouse button because there is no reason not too (no magazine size or overheat or something else). If you give the player an ability make sure to give him a reason not to use it :) - Really like how the light performs when it hits radiated walls. The shader (I assume) does a good job here :) - Not sure what I need to jump for though. And the upgrades therefore don't make much sense to me. As said before I would have probably tried to give the player a reason not to shoot. And then the upgrade could soften that penalty. Such as "each upgrade rewards you 1 extra round in your magazine. - I love how you try to keep the player playing by carrying over some state into the next attempt. - Would be nice to see the current floor number somewhere on the UI. - Would be nice to be able to get some health back. - How do I end the game? -> Navigates to dashboard and force quits the app. Edit after second startup: I previously wanted to end the game after clearing a room. And I didn't think of going into the next room and killing myself before I can quit.

Great game overall. It looks amazing for a jam game!

very fun! It would be cool to have a list of all the powerups because I'm not sure I got them all (I got 3 or 4 different ones). The randomness of the powerups is neat and made me want to keep on pushing just one more level to see how cool it would be to shoot even faster (but for some reason the game just really wanted to me to jump to the ceiling :D). Nice take on the theme. If I had one nitpick I'd say it would be nice to have an indicator when you get hit pointing to the damage source because it's not always clear if you're standing on radiation, or if a cockroach in the dark is shooting at you. Well done!

I really liked the cockroach models and their voice acting.

noel-widmer 2021-04-27 15:44

8 Stories is my best so far. It get's really hard on floor 8 because there are so many enemies :P Someone with shooter experience from palying on PC could probably beat my score prety quickly. I just miss half my shots :(

This was a pretty great entry. Graphics were very enjoyable, especially the "glowing" radiation standing out in the environment. The audio was good too, especially opening the door after each level.

I would have liked a bit more feedback to tell me I had killed everything on the floor and I was ready to go towards the floor door.

I found the choice of blue for the health bar at the top a bit unintuitive, and would have gone with red or green for that.

Finally, I really liked that you got to keep your upgrades/mutations between runs, giving more reason to play again.

Overall great job

Really nice models, very detailed. I do think the blue on the health bar probably should have been red so its easier to read at a glance. Fun entry though, I enjoy the mechanic of the player changing each floor.

Cool game! Liked the cockroaches!

matterlinx 2021-04-28 08:23

Cool game. I normally hate cockroaches but I didn't seem to mind them in this game. The graphics nd lighting were very good and the gameplay was fun. Good job

brainloaf-studio 2021-04-28 09:08

Nice game! I'm a fan of how you're able to keep your upgrades after you lose & how that makes losing into an opportunity to only make it further next time. The cockroaches are also delightfully horrifying.

testudor 2021-04-28 14:32

Cool game! I feel like it could have been a bit more fast-paced, but I liked it nonetheless!

eugenik 2021-04-28 16:30

In love with the atmosphere too! Good job :D.

korfi 2021-04-28 18:10

Really cool game, the graphics were excellent! For someone that likes both first person shooters and rougelikes this is right up my alley. I'm super impressed that you managed to get everything so detailed and a good, balanced system in place in such a short time!

I personally felt like the motion blur was a bit too much, but I'm also the type of player that turn it off in regular games. I would've enjoyed a sensitivity slider as a quality of life feature, but I totally understand that it wasn't a priority in a game jam!

Overall it was a well executed idea and really enjoyable!

argorum 2021-04-29 18:18

Great graphics for a 72 hour gamejam! It's definetly a solid 5! Also, nice fast-paced gameplay, enjoyed it!

michael-harris 2021-04-30 13:46

Good stuff! When the levels got really hard I really got into it. Jumping around the room and dodging like 20 cockroaches at a time. The art is pretty good too.

Some suggestions though: maybe some more sounds and music would help to fill it in a bit more. In some of the levels there were very little walls which caused all of the roaches to aggro immediately, maybe some more geometry would help that. And some of the shadows were so dark sometimes there would be a roach in a shadow that I couldn't see.

Honestly though good work for a 3 day game jam :-)

very-dark-lord 2021-04-30 17:53

Really nice! Felt almost sorry for the little guys at first. Until level 8 or so when they just seemed like bullies. It's also kind of funny how this radioactivity apparently only has positive effects on you. :D The upgrades persisting between rounds is a nice touch. One small thing I would have liked would be to have a few seconds at the beginning of each level to orient without getting attacked immediately. Apart from that, some variety in the AI would of course be nice - right now they're seemingly always running to the next best spot with a free line of fire. Adding some randomness beyond that (e.g. picking a new spot nearby every few seconds) might make the whole thing feel more natural. Great work overall. :ok_hand:

This was a sweet 3D entry, I liked how it took itself pretty seriously but still had a whimsical feel to it :) gameplay was pretty on par, nothing groundbreaking but I'm sure that was the point, especially considering the graphical work that went into this entry. Loved it top to bottom, great job <3
