Really nice take on the theme and awesome illusion. The movement and puzzles were cool however i did get stuck on the coloured cubes... I changed them to the ones on the box and nothing happened. Also you can open the cube solution without the key by just clicking. I really liked the atmospheric soundtrack and thought you did an amazing job.

dangribanovsky 2020-10-05 23:40

that reminds me of some hyperbolic stuff by codeparade. I like it a lot, both short and infinite. Thank you Thank you Thank you for this game

purrseus 2020-10-05 23:57

You really captured the Antichamber vibes, but with your own hyperbolic spin. Really cool! We sadly got stuck after obtaining the key. Pressing Esc apparently crashes the game :slight_frown:

alpharock6 2020-10-06 01:12

@zen Wow you're right about the key! It's always the weirdest bugs that get overlooked :) I pushed a quick hotfix for that and to let the puzzle get solved forwards or backwards (I had it mirrored before) Glad you enjoyed it!

alpharock6 2020-10-06 01:15

@dangribanovsky YES! I could only dream of doing something like Hyperbolica since I'm just cloning and scaling and he's doing full non-euclidean rendering, but it makes me so happy to hear I could remind you of that :D

alpharock6 2020-10-06 01:16

@purrseus Whoops, the escape crashing was for closing out of the Windows build, pushed a quick hotfix to remove that from Web :) Thanks for playing! If you ever hop back in, you can use the key on the outside of the mini version of the rooms :D

mmason 2020-10-06 05:15

Super fun game, I managed to sneak in and out of the door and only required growing in size twice, played it through like 3 times

ace17 2020-10-06 06:14

Wow, this is impressive! I really like the way the maze starts simplistic and get more and more complex as you enable rooms.

Very nice choice of music BTW.

I see that there are discussions about a key? I managed to reach the end without getting/seeing any key, did I miss something? Great, now I have an excuse to play again :D

alpharock6 2020-10-06 08:42

@mmason haha wow! I don't think I've actually tried to figure out the minimum there... that definitely sounds like as small as I could imagine though

alpharock6 2020-10-06 08:45

@ace17 Thank you! I scrapped the whole project Saturday night and redesigned from scratch to try to make it a much more gradual introduction to make it less confusing, I'm glad that came through well!

Haha, it seems you don't need the key to open the side panel with the color puzzle hint (I've since patched). Though the color puzzle never changes so once you know the solution you don't need the key ever again :P

darkhex 2020-10-06 13:35

Very well done! At first I didn't notice the puzzle and I kept exiting in a loop, hah. This actually feels like a great idea for a full-fledged short puzzle game.

alpharock6 2020-10-06 19:31

@darkhex Haha if you got "Stuck in a loop" for a bit I think I did my job right :P Thanks for playing!

jerry-xu 2020-10-07 03:46

This is such a cool concept and really cool execution!! My only minor complaint is that I somehow got softlocked after the staircase part when I moved around and fell into a pit. Otherwise, I really love this game and all the entertaining puzzles!

alpharock6 2020-10-07 04:18

@jerry-xu Oh! Good to know, I'll have to keep an eye out for that haha. Glad to hear the execution came across well!

dvdfu 2020-10-07 05:45

Incredible game!! The puzzle progression was nicely scaled and each one was a good a-ha moment.

I think I managed to glitch winning the game - on the final puzzle, I walked backwards after exiting the main loop door and it triggered the win screen. I was confused at first but played again to discover the staircase.

In any case, I really loved this entry, great job!

alpharock6 2020-10-07 06:51

@dvdfu I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Just booted it back up to check out the glitch ending, whoops! If there's anything game jams are good for it's showing the value of broad playtesting :D

wolfier 2020-10-07 08:47

Right before the end i walked back into the smaller room and discovered the back wall was gone.

It took me a bit to figure out what i was supposed to do at first for some reason, at first(after i stopped just walking through the door) I tried jumping up to see if i would break out of the ceiling, then i tried it in the hallway, and then a sidled back and forth trying to change my size without getting too big that i wouldn't be able to re enter.

Then I learned you can multi jump and just did that to the green square.

Good fun, nice music, want more puzzles, not enough time.

(Edit) Oh ya, forgot write that the Play again button didn't work, and also that the camera has a lock, and also that the camera is a little to wild for my taste

pobix 2020-10-07 09:00

Really great game! Didn't notice there was a puzzle at first but once I did I really liked it. This feels like it could be a full game if it had more content.

snotax 2020-10-07 09:04

Wow very impressive puzzle game for a GameJam. The puzzles were not that hard, but very creative and fun. All in all it is really awesome for a Jam!

jafcraze 2020-10-07 15:49

Really impressed with this game! Loved that the player essentially builds up the puzzles.

alpharock6 2020-10-08 03:20

@wolfier "the back wall was gone" hehe my last half hour hack was uncovered! Apologies that it led to so much confusion, I'm not sure if patching that would be too much of an edit for post-submission so I kept that in (for now)

Definitely agreed on the camera being a bit wild for my taste too, for some reason it seems to mostly be that way on Web, it's much more calm on Editor/Windows?

alpharock6 2020-10-08 03:21

@pobix Excellent :D that's exactly what I was hoping would happen, hopefully you weren't running into infinity for too long!

alpharock6 2020-10-08 03:24

@snotax Really appreciate that! I tried to focus it down to only a couple of "puzzles" to really polish the idea off, I'm glad they wound up being fun!

alpharock6 2020-10-08 03:24

@jafcraze Thanks so much! I would love to explore letting the player build the rooms out non-linearly. The current version only really lets you slap two rooms on one at a time, but it could potentially be the source of some cool puzzles!

milmalissa 2020-10-09 18:07

Good job with a good illusion.

phindiegames 2020-10-09 20:01

It showed that you focused on just a few puzzles! It felt like a very complete demo :) I think this is the game I've enjoyed the most so far this jam! I had never completed a puzzle similar to this before (Antichamber is still uninstalled in my library) so it was enjoyable. At the same time it did not overstay its welcome.

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-09 20:09

OMG, This is the craziest game in the jam, this is so good (I love non-euclidean-esque games), please consider turning it to a full game please please pleassee. Really enjoyable, good audio design, good performance. GREAT JOB  at first I thought our games are similar but they are far from similar.

alpharock6 2020-10-11 09:19

@phindiegames Thank you! I'm so grateful that you enjoyed it that much. If you enjoyed this I would highly recommend taking a peek at Antichamber! It's really interesting even as just a neat set of disconnected "aha!" experiences

alpharock6 2020-10-11 09:22

@arad-hamidsamiee hahaha I started playing your game and thought the same thing! Definitely similar in the sense of an exit sign leading you to a teleporting loop :)

Your encouragement is definitely heard! This is certainly one of the jam projects I've worked on that I've been the most excited to continue playing around with and I'll be sure to update here if I add any significant changes or start exploring new ideas!

sinusquell 2020-10-11 09:28

Wow, what a unique game! The music and sounds were very fitting. I've enjoyed this a lot!

alpharock6 2020-10-11 09:57

@sinusquell Thank you! Unique experience was definitely my goal, even if it was a bit shorter and didn't have a ton of gameplay content yet :)

greytyphoon 2020-10-11 13:29

Awesome game, great potential, great visuals, great music!

steambrain 2020-10-14 08:01

Awesome!

enes-ayyildiz 2020-10-15 20:03

I like sound and visualization. Showing 360 degree is good idea. After first or second door I pushed the button on the left and it is removed suddenly and after passing next door I took a cube and it came with me further and I couldn't explore what I should do more than walking with it.

alpharock6 2020-10-16 08:32

@enes-ayyildiz [Potential Spoilers] once you have that cube piece you can attach it to the smaller version of the room that you just left! The cube is supposed to look like a little room that you pick up and can attach :)

jk5000 2020-10-19 10:10

This was a bit weird, but also a pretty fun little puzzle game. Well done.

teto 2020-10-22 11:06

This was a really nice little puzzle game. Felt very original still despite being inspired by antichamber with the addition of the little mini layout which I thought was very clever and the size changing as well. Graphics were simple but fit with the game well. Great entry overall, just wish it was longer as I wanted to keep playing!
