Nice job!! Really well polished, animations are pretty cool and audio is great! A solid entry!

dmac 2020-10-05 19:05

Yeah, you got a lot done with this one. Run cycles take time! I enjoyed the synthwave ninja mood :)

azagaya 2020-10-05 19:12

@dmac Thanks! is the first time i do that kind of music.

freddyturbina 2020-10-05 19:34

I love the music and the sounds makes it very addictive!!

oaksguard 2020-10-05 19:43

You should be proud at your self! The Metroidvenia style and level design feels great! This is a really big game for a gamejam

azagaya 2020-10-05 19:47

@oaksguard thanks! I even couldnt work full weekend on it. I almost gave up! But I'm proud of what I made, even though I know there are flaws on it.

geroblacksmith 2020-10-06 02:29

Really fun to play fast paced gameplay nice aesthetics, cool music, everything was fine, but I couldn't find the door after I got the key T_T

shortbread 2020-10-06 08:50

Audio track is awesome~ really gets you into the game. Clean and smooth visuals as well, great job!

azagaya 2020-10-06 11:43

@shortbread thanks for the feedback!

anrqangel 2020-10-06 13:49

Good art style, nice concept.. Well done

shelvid 2020-10-06 14:01

Really great entry! I really liked the visuals, very lovely. Sound design for the most part was really good, I just think footsteps were a little too loud and... weird. I did have a bit of a trouble at first and preferred to avoid combat but after I got the fireball it was actually really fun. The level design visually could be better I feel like? More landmark spots or whatever but this is a gamejam so I'm asking for too much there. All in all a really solid entry, well done!

marbles 2020-10-06 14:07

Really good animations! I miss the small platforms a lot, it's either the movement speed is too fast or the platform is too small.

azagaya 2020-10-06 14:21

@shelvid thanks! yeah, footsteps may be to loud. They were fine on my computer, but listening in other computer also feels to loud. I thought about putting landmarks, or even a map, but I couldn't make it in time.

@marbles thanks for the feedback! yes, perhaps the small platforms are to small. Can be easily fixed in a post jam version.

mhm32167 2020-10-06 14:33

Very nice. The UI is polished and audio and graphics/animation are very impressive for the limited time you had to make this. I like how mechanics such as shooting with the sword and dashing are gradually introduced with helpful information reminding you how to use your abilities and what to do. The main problem I had was that the game felt very repetitive, which I suppose comes with the theme. Perhaps some more variation each time you revisit the same/similar areas. Overall really nice work!

azagaya 2020-10-06 14:38

@mhm32167 thanks! yeah, the idea was to introduce new enemies each repetition, but I had no time left.

wiredsound 2020-10-06 21:25

This was good fun - impressive animations! Was very satisfying taking out enemies with the upgraded sword.

trypants 2020-10-06 21:36

Interesting concept! Had fun playing your game! Had a hard keeping the astronauts in... haha

gonzalol 2020-10-06 21:37

Good platform game. It get much easier once you start shooting instead of just attacking with the sword.

azagaya 2020-10-06 21:46

@wiredsound @gonzalol thanks for playing! originally, the idea was that you pick first the dash, but i found the sword upgrade was fun, so i decided to put it sooner in the game.

@trypants thanks for playing! with astronaut you mean the main character?

macmist 2020-10-06 22:52

Really nice game, with pretty graphics and cool music! I enjoyed playing it, well done!

azagaya 2020-10-06 22:54

@macmist thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

samdwester 2020-10-07 02:47

Good job! I like the graphics and the game looks pretty polished. The powerups made the game very satisfying

azagaya 2020-10-07 10:26

@samdwester thanks! Im glad you liked it!

ansoneh 2020-10-07 15:15

The controls are very tight and feel good. Love the design of the enemies. Good job!

azagaya 2020-10-07 15:24

@ansoneh thanks!

kaldrin 2020-10-07 19:53

I liked the gameplay, even if I found the sword range a bit short. The graphics and animation are good, it feels nice to play, and nice job with the parralax of the BG, gives a visual identity to the place, we feel lost in a web of a big dungeon or so!

On the stuck in a loop aspect, you decided to think the level like a loop, and you executed it well. It would work better in my opinion if the different areas of the level had more distinct visual identity, because I didn't feel like I was going multiple times through the same place, I was just feeling lost, trying to find my way.

Special mention the air stop of the attack that's really helpful to hover !

azagaya 2020-10-07 21:17

@kaldrin thanks for the feedback! yeah, deffinitely i should have added some marks to identify some spots.. or some comments like "Im again here?" or something. Also the beginning/ending was intended to be interpreted as a loop.. as if the time you played is not the first time the character went through this.

About the air stop, i always loved that mechanic! i think is really fun. In all games. No exception.

kaldrin 2020-10-07 21:31

@azagaya Yeah I liked that ending I'll admit! And I agree on this mechanic!

mog13 2020-10-08 09:04

nice job, animations were really nice and the world felt cohesive and solid. platforming was good but i found the combat a little difficult on laptop. I had fun with it, great job!

azagaya 2020-10-08 11:07

@mog13 ! thanks! yeah, combat is a bit hard on laptop, until you get the explosive attack. Thanks for the feedback!

game-endeavor 2020-10-11 16:09

Nice job. :) The music is great and player movement is fast paced and fun. Hitting an enemy needs more feedback, I often wasn't sure if my hits were successful or not. The platforms in the background threw me off a few times. I would try to jump on them before realizing they were background elements and thus falling. And the bits of ground that kill you aren't obvious. They look really similar to normal ground and if you're moving fast towards them they can be even more confusing. For a while I thought I was just taking fall damage. I would probably give them a warmer color so they stand out more and seem more hazardous.

trexxak 2020-10-11 17:08

A very competent entry all around! I do wish the hitbox of the simple enemies would be a bit larger though, as it felt a bit awkward to actually land a hit. I love how you gradually upgrade the character, and the parallax layer looks really cool :D

azagaya 2020-10-12 12:54

@game-endeavor Hi! thanks for playing! yeah, enemi hits need more feedback, and hitboxes need to be stunned. The parallax background, i think i should change the tileset i used for that, so that it does not seem part of the level. About the spikes in the ground that kill you, besides changing the color, perhaps the problem is that the player respwans too fast, so the player cant really see what was in the floor. I could probably change those spikes to a red or orange color, or make them shine. Thanks for the great feedback!

@trexxak hi! thanks! yeah, the hit boxes need tunning. Ill make sure to fix them after the jam ends.

forgeronstudio 2020-10-13 13:40

Great job! Really fun aesthetic and general feel. I'm on a Mac and the game feels a bit laggy, but the awesome music and sound effects made it fun throughout.

azagaya 2020-10-14 11:26

@forgeronstudio thanks for the feedback! Perhaps if i add a dedicated build for mac, it works better.

taffyko 2020-10-27 06:12

played through to the end! solid hack n' slash powerup-collecting platformer, i enjoyed! very impressed by your animated 2D character rigs, great work getting all this together within the duration of the jam!

azagaya 2020-10-27 11:23

Thanks a lot @jjoeyay! Im glad you enjoied it!
