the concept is really interesting, but the movement takes some time to get used to, and i also never got a tutorial for what to do with the baby i also couldn't figure out how to deactivate the warning siren, which was kind of annoying

benjouille 2020-04-21 22:51

Concept is cool, mechanics work fine but it need some tuning. It's too hard right from the start, and the alarm sound is very stressful haha. But globally the game is cool it doesn't need a lot of work to be really fun, good luck !

blue-pin-studio 2020-04-21 22:52

The concept was nice but i didn't manage to do anything before i lost. Way too many customers and the tutorials kept getting in the way. Also my baby was falling out of it's crib every 5 seconds causing a never-ending alarm

room606 2020-04-22 07:12

Very unusual movement mechanics but it kinda feature which adds challenge to the game. Graphics style nice and minecraftish. I'd add some highlight spots to the places the player can interact with and maybe add some music.

The game definitely has some potential but just needs some more polishing.

Also I've caught very funny bug. I could spin the baby around the restaraun, outside! That was funny. Screenshot from 2020-04-22 10-03-51.png

mlkvr 2020-04-22 13:15

I forget about the resturant and wait for my baby to wrap living room peacefully :) good game but controlling player is a little bit hard

acdia 2020-04-22 13:26

At first I had a hard time trying to move the character to the right spot. Until I read the text at the left and used the FP-Cam. It's way easier. Even though the game isn't finished, it's impressive what you where abled to do in the given time. Really cool!

Hi,

Thanks @the-triumvirate. Yeah sorry, the baby part is a bit unfinished, we not had enough time to add explanation for it. At the start the baby is in the Craddle, and if the warning siren is ON, you must take the baby and put it in the Craddle again. By the way I guess you had a funny time to run about with the baby in front of you :joy:.

@benjouille, @blue-pin-studio Yes like I said before, no enough time to finish and balance a bit the gameplay. Sorry for that and thanks for your interest.

@room606 "I’d add some highlight spots to the places the player can interact with" Was totally a goal for the last hours, but you know how it is :D. You don't had music and fx sounds ? I Know that bug with the baby, tried to quick fix the bug and I broken antother things, so I have revert that XD.

@mlkvr Thanks and nice strategy :D

@acdia Yeah you are right, it impressed myself how Godot Engine was productive for me, after more than 1 year without opening it !

adinimys 2020-04-22 18:09

Your game has a really fun concept with a cool art style (and dishes on the head which is nice :P). But like you said, it's quite broken sadly :/

I feel like the biggest issue are the controls. I ended up zigzaging and I guess that it's not a good look for the baby and the customers to be drunk ^^ I think that it would have been better to pick one between top-down and fps view. By trying to do both you ended up with 2 messy way and it's not really possible to alternate both without having camera issues. Also increasing the hitboxes to pickup the baby and orders would be better I think. I also feel like the alarm sound is too loud (plus I didn't understood at the beginning that it was linked to the baby)

It's a shame because it really looks cool with a fun concept that could be quite fun with more polish. I liked the dino-baby and having dishes on the head. On this subject why not allow to carry 3 dish : one on the head and one in each hand ? That would allow for some planning in taking orders.

Still, congrats for you entry :)

hare-software 2020-04-22 19:58

It might be a bit broken here and there, but that does not mean that I can't appreciate all the work you did. The concept is great, not just for this theme, but as a general idea. Switching between two rooms trying to manage two completely different situations is really quite unique for these restaurant games. The game is a bit hard to play because of a bunch of smaller mistakes, but there is nothing that really completely ruins it. That mean... you can still make it great! If you like the idea yourself, I would recommend working on this some more and turning it into a full game. Do take part in the next Ludum Dare, if you manage to make a game that has the right scope, I am sure it will be amazing!

emre-tahtali 2020-04-22 23:59

the idea is really cool, but the controls are HARD :D

bigquacko 2020-04-24 23:35

Found the controls really difficult to use, but its a decent concept. Good job!

laura-del-pino 2020-04-25 17:44

Nice game but the controls are too difficult to use! it's also quite difficult to say in wich point you can use every "interaction" maybe adding some carpets in the floor will help and a in-game tutorial serving the first customer will also ease the game experience. But good job with this entry!

acidmanrpgz 2020-04-25 23:18

My computer was lagging like mad, the controls weren't the simplest and I had a tonne of errors. But other than that, which is probably because I'm playing on my laptop, not bad.

saulo-rosart 2020-04-25 23:22

The game has really good idea and sweet art style, but those controls are not good at wall. It's way to hard to move with precision! I think tou should keep working on this, it's has potential!

andidebob 2020-04-26 16:51

I can see where you went overboard with your ambition, but this is a really solid result! Obviously the game is way too hard from the get go, but it is a bit easier in first person. The only downside is that you do not see when you are carrying a dish. There should also be a way to make the baby break out less often, like closing a door or something like that. The basics are here and a lot of the assets too, now you just need to sit down and get everything working together properly. And even though you scoped too big for a gamejam, you delivered something really cool!

laveilleusegraphique 2020-04-27 16:51

I did not get used to the controllers and my mind was a bit overloaded by the warning sound and the multiple popups appearing ^^ But I like this kind of funny and challenging games, it made me think about Overcooked (mainly because of the restaurant).

nutriz 2020-04-29 21:34

Hi and thanks to all. I just published a post jam version with a lot of fixes :

* bigger areas detection * less loud alarm sound (yeah sorry for this) * fixed bad camera switch * more balanced difficulty * player movement a bit better * fixed baby position bug and escape rate * fixed customers queue and spawn rate * added area indication on floor * added help popup for the baby * possible to not loose :D (Yeah with the first version you was unable to win because I never added score points, only removed points, oups)

@room606 the baby bug is fixed in the post jam version :D

@adinimys it's not broken anymore in the post jam version

@hare-software I have fixed all serious bug and also balanced the difficulty in the post jam version, try it again :)

@laura-del-pino thanks for the advice, I have added areas on the floor in the post_jam version

Capture d’écran du 2020-04-29 23-30-27.png

@andidebob I have balanced the difficulty in the post_jam version, it is now viable :D

@laveilleusegraphique if you try again with the post_jam version you will have a much better experience :).

hare-software 2020-04-29 21:48

Played the post jam version and I am honestly impressed how big the difference is. This version just works! Sure, there are some more areas that could be better, but overall this is very fun to play and I understand way better what I have to do, well done!

epono 2020-05-01 14:04

Really cool concept, I especially love the way she serves the plates. As people said, tank controls are a bit weird for this kind of game in my opinion.

Really impressed by what you've accomplished overall.

nutriz 2020-05-08 11:55

Hi, the game is now playable in the browser :)

the-missing-bracket 2020-05-08 12:14

the game is good, i liked the concept and the game can get funny, but the tank controls didn't impress me. by the way how did you manage to make your godot game playable in the browser?

nutriz 2020-05-08 12:34

@the-missing-bracket I changed the texture compression to "Losseless" and re-imported each texture (which was black before)

mineiwik 2020-05-08 16:49

Nice concept and good graphics. The movement is a bit strange but you get used to it after some time. Well done!

number6406 2020-05-09 16:01

I agree with everyone : controlling the character is pretty hard! The fact that W and S make you turn on yourself on a game that is not FPS or TPS view is a bit disturbing. Having a reminder off the dishes people wants to be served could be nice too, and I think it would be much more pleasant if we wouldn't have a popup every time a client talks to us.

But afterall, the core gameplay is a great idea and is fun to play. A bit hard and stressful, but it still is a good entry!
