Pretty good but some little things that are a bit broken.

2018-08-13 00:23

Amazing stuff. Have my babies

adonisdevs 2018-08-13 00:39

Woah! The art was telling me to smile and laugh, but the music was telling me that I was about to get jump-scared by squid creatures! I didn't even feel safe in my bubble thingy! Okay, I'm calm. Great atmosphere, lots of content, but the game almost seems anti-theme, which is totally cool. Good work :)

laytanl 2018-08-13 00:44

Cool game, i got to 106GB! Great audio asswel. The game was very relaxing. Only thing i would change is the difficulty ramp. It felt a bit to easy the first few minutes. Great game man!

kiotikid 2018-08-13 00:45

Very cool idea to use the theme. No only do you have to watch out for the batteries running low, but you need to watch how much info you can store. Love it! Music was a good fit as well and the characters were very charming. Like the idea of surveying the life around you.

teo-miklethun 2018-08-13 00:45

Very cute game! That being said, the game play is kinda grindy, so I think there should be some way to save your game. Overall though, good job!

doey 2018-08-13 01:49

@adonisdevs Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I'm just glad the game did what it was meant to do!

doey 2018-08-13 01:52

@laytanl The difficulty is definitely one of those things I was planning on fine tuning, but it was just down to time really. I would like it to be a much more gradual thing, instead of staying at 0 for a while then hopping all the way up 100!

doey 2018-08-13 01:53

@teo-miklethun Saving isn't a bad idea, it'd also give me the ability to broaden the scope of the game. It would be a nice thing to have for sure!

doey 2018-08-13 01:55

@kiotikid Thanks! Glad the music went okay - it's not one of my stronger points!

dk5000p 2018-08-13 02:02

The overall game is great. Not sure if the game would be more interesting if there were varying enemies. There were multiple things to track and it was great.

doey 2018-08-13 02:06

@dk5000p I completely agree. Ideally, I wanted a number of different enemy variants that you would be able to spot and document, similarly to the plants. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

shinysteel 2018-08-13 05:41

This is a very nice game! I love how the music slows down and gets a little creepy when you leave the safe area. A death animation is also always welcome. Great job, love it.

rvenson 2018-08-14 01:27

I liked this game and the cute character. I collect almost 250GB =) Think that you could make more upgrades and enemies like others say. It would be even more fun.

doey 2018-08-14 02:58

@shinysteel @rvenson Thank you both for the feedback, it means a lot. More variety in the game would be great though!

fakefirefly 2018-08-15 15:28

I thought the adaptive music, being slower outside of the shield, was a neat idea! I wish there were more enemy types, like maybe one that shot at you instead of just running at you. I noticed a few times where the enemies would sometimes spawn inside of my shield when returning to my base, which lead to some close calls.

I'm a big fan of the death animation as well, with it showing your score on the little robot.

Overall, enjoyable, if a bit repetitive.

doey 2018-08-15 15:36

@fakefirefly Thanks for the feedback! I was aware of the issue with the enemies and just didn't have enough time to change anything. Different enemy type and a bit more variety in what you're doing would also be nice.

aterlamia 2018-08-15 15:49

Cute game, also fitting backgound music. I did notice that you allow screen ratios in which not everythig fits perfectly you might want to think about that next time.

doey 2018-08-16 00:43

@aterlamia That’s something I didn’t even consider, but definitely something I will in future. Thanks!

ignf 2018-08-16 16:59

Cute and creepy at the same time..! Loved it. That's some fine work you did there. Keep it up!

stefan-jovanovic 2018-08-21 14:04

Interesting idea with great execution! Keep up the good work!

doey 2018-08-22 14:14

@ignf @stefan-jovanovic Thanks so much for the responses guys!

alan-lu 2018-08-23 04:34

Yes, I really liked this game and wanted to keep playing more than I have.

cristihkj 2018-08-23 14:09

Nice game! Really cool and interesting! :D

runner-alien 2018-08-23 15:01

fun game! i would love to see this concept expanded upon!

doey 2018-08-23 15:12

@alan-lu @cristihkj @runner-alien It's great that you enjoyed the game! I would definitely consider developing it further at some point.

radical-dog 2018-08-23 15:51

Nice project! I would have liked a gradual difficulty curve though, as these "locals" are extremely fast and aggressive. Seems like the sort of game where I wouldn't mind it being easy and relaxing.

doey 2018-08-23 21:12

@radical-dog The aliens are something that I'd like to improve! Unfortunately at the moment, spawn placement is randomised for the alien dens, meaning that some games start much more difficult than others. They do move too quickly and it would be nice if their speed, damage and size was relative to how far away from the base they spawned. Thanks anyway for the response!

rahim-pxr 2018-08-27 17:20

Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a

nihilaleph 2018-09-01 01:27

Great entry!

Pros: - Nice assets (adaptive music!) - Fun mechanics

Cons: - As people already said, it was tough avoiding the aliens. Specially by the end game, they are all stack close to you and near the points of interest, since I guess when you enter the shield they don't just go away randomly, but stay near where you were. Either nerfing them or giving more options to avoid the them would solve this, I reckon.

Cheers!

@doey Hi there, thanks for rating my game. I would like to play your game but I have a Linux OS so I can't. If you export to Web or Linux, let me know to play it :)
