I really really really liked this entry. Running python from the web repl reminds me of the old "type in a million pages of BASIC from a magazine" days. Seeing the fishing game right next to the actual code is so cool - that's how I learned to code in the olden days!
Also, I sold a swordfish for $1000 so what's not to like?
I got two swordfish in the first 5 minutes of the game! Very fun! I have a soft spot for those text adventure games!

Nice work! I like the idea and the game is easy to pick up. It's very convenient being able to play this in a repl, which also doubles as the source code.
Cool concept. I would say lower the amount for the cost of the ring a little bit. After a while I just control-C/V cast to kinda speed things up a bit! I like how it runs on the web like that. Old school. Check out our first entry. Also a typing game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer

Awesome concept and presentation together with the code! Really shows you how simple it can be. I ended up binding the commands to hotkeys on my keyboard :D It was still quite a button mash fest to get to the ring. Some more decision making would probably help but might deter from the minimalism. Really cool entry!

Alright I like the concept, but the monotonous ctrl C + V grind to get to the ring is not really fun at all. I think a better way you might have gone about making this game would have been to implement some sort of mini-game when catching the fish, such as a number guess that translates into what type of fish you catch, and instead of upgrading inventory space, you upgrade the ability of your fishing rod so you can potentially catch fish of higher value in the mini-game. Despite this, I liked the concept of your game as well as the text-adventure aesthetic.

I wish I could press the up arrow or type c to cast. It was fun, I played until my hands got tired. Good job.
Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V is the name of the game. ;) It's a nice minimal concept, but I would have loved to have seen more interactions for the player. Perhaps you catch a shark every now and then and you have to type a specific phrase/number to survive/not lose money? Good job with the submission, I look forward to seeing more from you in the future!

I like the concept and it's a pretty chill game.
Although seeing the scope of the game I think it could have done with a few addition. A command history and autocomplete could have been a good idea, retyping the same word 5000 times gets repetitive. Colors printing could have made it easier to read quickly what is happening.
The core of the game is just typing 'cast' a bit more variety or input to the actual fishing would be cool too.
I don't know the context in which you made the game or how much time you had and I guess the main goal of LD is to fulfill your own objectives, but I feel you could have done more in 48 hours.
This game starts out nicely, but quickly becomes tedious and boring. I think it's really just a matter of not having enough content yet to really have a whole, fun game -- there needs to be more progression than "buy bait and spam the cast button."
I did find one bug -- somehow the first time I went fishing I ended up with -1 bait.

cast cast cast cast cast cast cast cast cast cast cast. The game is fun at the beggining, but once you have a decent inventory size and have to spam "cast" it's getting annoying. Maybe it would need some upgrade with events happening while fishing that make you earn more money, to balance between the number of casts and the $ gain. Also there is a bug that allow you to have less than zero baits in the inventory. Otherwise the game is nice, the goal is set, the game run smoothly even when I type non-sense :) cast cast cast cast
Most of it is already said. It's neat, but 100,000 is way too much. I was hoping that I could "steal" the ring, but no such luck  Having events out at sea, or even shortcuts lie pressing  to use your last command would make things a bit better.

A nice little game.
It is tidiously repeatable.. but then such is the nature of working hard to get something. So the "mood" tgets 5/5.
Also since the dock/sell/undock doesn't take that much time, and numebr of castings and buying the bait is not affected, I don't see much point in extra inventory slots. Especially for this price. Maybe adding more expensive bait that can lure better fish, would give a game a bit more depth...
Another thing that would have added to "choice" mechanics of the game would be an ability to dump some items out of inventory. Like if you want to get more fish on your haul aqnd don't wand to return with a boatfull of boot.

I really felt this captured the tedium of fishing. It would have been even better if you had to wait some seconds before catching a fish. Events at sea and on the shore (with the one you supposedly love but never spend time with) would have made this better.
cast cast cast cast ctrl + v has never been spammed like that before, i like this, its a little tedious (and hurts my hands) but it stuck to the theme and was an overall interesting concept. and if your not too busy casting would you kindly check out my game? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/photonic

... well, I got the ring. I played for a few minutes, and after that I trained a highly advanced AI to play for me until I had $100,000. (You can see an explanation of how this sophisticated AI works here: https://i.imgur.com/ahg6Ewg.png)
I discovered that, to get enough money to purchase the ring, you will need to type `cast` approximately 1,000 times.
I guess this is a game? Technically? I think it might have been more definitely a game if you could ever do anything to accelerate the rate of money gain

The game has brought a nice nostalgia feeling, but I got bored after a short time. With more options of what to do it would be more enjoyable. (For example, buying better, more expensive equipment or baits that increase your change of getting more expensive fishes, or that "unlock" bigger, more expensive fishes.)
I managed to become engaged to the love of my life, but more importantly I became the greatest fisherman in the world. These 'cast' skills will remain with me long after the love of my life leaves me for someone who buys a 200k ring from that damnable overpriced shopkeep. Why did he price the ring so high anyway? I sense a strange love triangle in the mix...
Great idea, clean code, I enjoyed playing this one. It would have been a cool feature to have the shopkeep remark on the things you buy every once in a while, maybe saying weird things to mix it up. Just a little push to keep it from getting repetitive. All in all, awesome submission.
The concept was entertaining up front, but with only one way to fish, it got too repetitive too quickly. The nice thing about using a re.pl to run it was I could just add my own "cheat" command that gie me the money I need for the ring so I was able to see the ending anyway :)

I was never too fond of finishing, real life or in games. But this lovely CLI approach turned it into my cup of tea.
