Pretty fun game, I liked the graphics a lot
I love the disclaimer, it was pretty funny. I don't know how to run a Steam locomotive, but I'll assume you got it right. The at is really nice too.
Love the atmosphere of the game and keeping the train running smoothly was really fun!, great art and great sound. The only thing i can critique is the method for picking up wood and leaving the train, could maybe have been a bit prettyer or done with a key press instead? Great game though!
The game is realy funny xD. I loce you humor and how to maintain the train. But does weapons already exist? There were also a bug so i coul'd get snow, i gues becouse i ran out of ammo. Great job :D
God I hate eskimos with plasma guns! That was really fun and actually realistic :D
I like this self aware humor.
I liked this one! The graphics were nice and simple, but they served their purpose well and the noises of the locomotive added a nice touch of atmosphere. The general concept and mechanics were pretty fun and quite original. I haven't really seen a train survival game before. They worked alright but they lacked polish, at least in my opinion. I encountered a few bugs (such as the fact stray bullets could hit me even if I was inside the locomotive and the fact I was able to carry the water and wood at the same time). These problems are understandable though for a Jam game. If I had to improve the experience in any area I'd say focus on the combat mechanics as they didn't feel very weighty and the enemies moved a bit too fast for my liking. Overall though, fun game and a unique concept worth expanding upon in the future!
Haha I love the random bandits, at first I just missed the tutorial and went out exploring, realizing there was nothing out there I went back, it was to late, the bandits killed me! When I played I often didn't have the feeling that I was even shooting anyone. Cool concept and graphics tho :D
Those bandits are bloodthirsty! Really charming game. I think this is the best use of the theme I have seen so far. I like the graphics and controls but I do wish all controls were within the game instead of buttons for "Open Door" and "Get Wood" etc, but maybe you ran out of time.
I really enjoyed the simple graphic style on this one. It's cute and sweet. The humor humor adds a lot of character haha. There's a lot of systems going on here, I'm rather impressed it works so well.
I did find a bug where you're able to pick up both water and a log at the same time which cut down on my trips back and forth a bit. If you grab a log, and pass over the waterbucket in the snow heater you'll carry both. Perhaps show some sort of indicator a crate is coming up? I ended up reversing just to check it out, sort of annoying to stop PERFECTLY at 5km (but i guess the idea of the game was to be a bit annoying).
I would have liked a way to 'stop' the projectiles fired by the eskimos. It was sort of frustrating to still be hit by them even though I had killed all of them because I can't dodge the projectile chasing me.
Overall pretty good.
The grafics are very good the way it plays is awessome vut it lacks music so the game feels very empty the sound design is great the game is a little confusing but once u get the hang of it its an really awessome experience
Really fun game with a cool concept, great job!
Nice job... interesting concept, and humor. Takes a lot to keep this baby running!
Fun game, quite easy to understand what to do.
Really great use of the theme and a fun concept, very addictive. I liked the artwork as well.
I really like games that make me forget that they were made in such a short time frame. You were able to include many different elements into your gameplay, all of which I felt fit your concept. The graphic style was nice as well. There are a few bugs but thats expected, overall a quality entry, well done!
Overall a really good game that feels complete. Could have used some music but the other sounds are great and the gameplay is fun.
I hate those bandits though. Why won't they let me ride my train in peace??
Very funny game that engaged me for 11,88 minutes until i reached the destination... I was so slow!
The wheels of the train showed some awesome programmer art
Would be good if you write the movement controlls in the description, took me a while to understand that I could jump, and seems like @boats missed this too.
The game could be improved by some background music, listening to only the steam enginge for 12 minutes was a bit monotonous.
Really great work, there's so much that's good about this game. I love the idea, the humour, and the visuals. The audio was handled well, though I think some subtle BGM would help it. I think I found a bug; I tried collecting more snow while there was already a bucket in the snow heater, and that seemed to break my bucket ability, so I wasn't able to progress any further. But as far as the gameplay itself goes, I liked it a lot, very well done, nice job!
Great little management game with some great aesthetics! I feel like I understand how to drive a train now. I made it to the end although I died to the bandits a couple of times (Why do they have lazer guns???!!!)
Really cool game! Saw this at Elysia Griffin stream and it looked cool, so I gave it a try. Love the art style! Gave me a Cart Life kind of vibe, so that's a big plus. Love the gameplay concepts, it was a lot of fun to juggle the several components of the train to keep it running. It needs some balancing but this is a great start. Combat was a bit stiff but after getting used to it it was ok. I had the same problem as @antaresvaldemar, so I couldn't use my bucket anymore.
It has been said before, but it would be more intuitive if you could exit and enter the train with down-arrow and up-arrow, and maybe the same for picking up items (down arrow to pick up, up arrow to drop in furnace).
Overall very well done, one of my favorites so far!
Lekker bezig
This game is kinda cool, it's simple but feel quite balance.
interesting take on the theme, running out of all the power sources. Self referencing humor was good. I wish the speech bubbles wouldn't advance until I had actually done the thing it asked ( had trouble figuring out button for snow gathering since I passed through it quickly )
This was a lot of fun! I like the idea of manually gathering the resources needed to power the train. If you were doing a post-jam version, I could even see expanding into some sort of crafting system to craft upgrades, etc.
One very picky suggestion for the UI. In addition to having buttons above, like "open door", etc., clicking the actual item itself should trigger the same effect. I kept clicking on the door and then remembering that I had to click the button. That is a really minor thing though. Very nice work.
The gameplay was really varied and fun. Nice work.
