This is fun and full of humour! You're right about stopping to punch, I recommend iterating until you find a way to keep the challenge but avoid the frustration.

The fact that where just as fast as your prey killed quite a bit of the fun, but otherwise a cool game :D

This game is awesome, I burst out laughing when this massive robot just pops up in the middle of these dudes camping and they all peace out. I had a great time running around slaughtering them, I wish they were slightly slower than you so you could catch them, but it was fun anyway and the laser animation is awesome. Then I came back here and read that there is an end game so I immediately loaded it back up.

The ending is good, I like all the statistics that you're given. Very enjoyably experience all around.

Fun game! The challenge was just right. I especially liked the assets and clever text. Some recommendations would be to include some sort of attack indicator, especially for the laser. The movement felt rather slippery as well and made it difficult to control the character. Overall great job!

Somehow this game made me laugh. Although the sound was a bit meh, not my type, I enjoyed it. The intro was a good game design feature that I liked.

Perhaps the graphics could've been a bit more polished, a bit oversaturated, not quite sure if you were going for the low poly look, or the rogue like look since the intro gave a different impression.

Alas perhaps its just me whos too picky when it comes to design, its the game play that should be the most important. One thing that I found interesting is that they can kill you in the end (stabbed), which came to my surprise that I actually have to "play with caution" and not just randomly kill.

In the overall I think I enjoyed myself!

Funny idea but floating controls killing all the fun.

hawkinslance 2016-08-30 01:42

This is my favorite game so far. It is very humorous and enjoyable. The gameplay was addicting. Favorite part was getting to see all the names when I killed people. Not too challenging but was still challenging enough. Overall A very fun game.

tl;dr;
Character movement is awkward. Don't say me you use rigid body for this.
Giant golem can be crushed by a tiny knife. what?
Overall not bad. I like map level of details.

adafish 2016-08-30 01:48

I loved the intro, the typing text and graphics were awesome. The game was also fun, crushing peasants into blood clouds is always fun. However, being stabbed once by a weak little human made me a little sad. Overall, good job.

dragonzbw 2016-08-30 01:48

@thatsBamboo not sure what you mean by "attack indicator." I do know what you mean about the movement though... I tried to fix that, guess the amount of slippery-ness-reducing I put in wasn't enough.

I Really liked the presentation of the story at the start aswell as it telling you the controls through it rather than in a menu although I'd say the controls are bit to velocity / floaty based to really hit anything and dying seems to happen a bit too easly but the jam entry was very good! Keep it up :)

johnasebok 2016-08-30 02:38

Fantastic! As suggested, I played through til I got back to the temple. ***Spoilers: If you get hit once you die, the easiest way to stay alive is when you see an armed heretic just stop and wait for them to get close enough for you to punch them in the face - unarmed people run away from you, red shirted knife wielding psychos charge you - I felt no remorse for face punching them***

I was hoping the temple had a pair of ice skates, could of used them - the terrain is not golem friendly.

Great humor though out, interesting game play once you figured out the mechanic and good pay off for completing the game.

Well done.

This game is nice xD The controls are a little loose, but it is fun and humorous XD GOod job

tintreas 2016-08-30 04:42

A fun, murderous little game, however there is no way to close it without force quitting once you're done!

senor-salty 2016-08-30 04:46

A very fun game, but a few things would serve it well, like a health bar,as well as an attack you could use while moving. The art was simple but appealing, and the controls felt great. All in all, pretty good game.

justinooncx 2016-08-30 06:21

This was a pretty cool game! Despite the controls being a bit slippery, it definitely felt like I was piloting a golem. Slow and unresponsive. Loved the soundtrack, and the art was surprisingly nice for something so simple. Rather polished experience overall. Well done!

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

wheerd 2016-08-30 07:21

The idea and vibe of the game are cool - what is not to like about being a murderous golem? The controls are a bit strange, it feels more like you are sliding than walking. I also don't like that you get taken out by one stab with a knife. That changes it from a killing spree to a tactical game, which I did not expect after the intro. Killing those heretics does feel pretty good though and the end is also nice. The graphics could use some more polish. My favorite moment is when you pop up in the beginning and all the workers scram in panic :D

volcanicgiraffe 2016-08-30 08:30

I loved the visuals. Music was also strangely fitting for the golem carnage. Very nice overall feeling of squishy humans.
What I didn't really expect is the fact golem is squishy as well. It certainly adds to the challenge, but it doesn't really feel fair. Tried to fill my laser meter for >20 attempts, then got it to 9 and touched a fireplace. Turns out they kill you - but how would I know about that?
Golem slowness and stopping for a punch, on contrary, feels fair and expected, so that's the good way to make a challenge.

gassasin 2016-08-30 10:51

i like your game! U could speed up the golem:)

xgeovanni 2016-08-31 16:36

Since this is a Unity game, could you please make a Linux or Web build?

repstyle 2016-09-03 17:59

Game as cluncky control but it is fun when you take on you.
There is a good feedback when punching heathens (sound is doing the trick).

I killed enough enemies to fulfill my laser and go to the temple. I finished the game and i was disapointed to not fight a boss or seeing a meaningful explanation of why i was doing this.
I liked the context from the environment you created, simple but nicely staged. With a more polished version of it and the ability of seeing far away my position i would like to walk in that environment.

Oh, golem controls were pretty bad, i could use it taking on me but never justify bad controls by choice made to add difficulty. Just say you didn't had time for it ;).
