Oct 7 12:50:59 Attention Spam ♥ 2 Nice game idea, and I like the premise you went for. It's unfortunate I had to focus on where the creatures were going because I feel like I missed a lot of funny posts. Saylor Twift lol. I'm not sure when the game ends? After like 5 minutes (and beating your high score I think?) I quit because it felt like going endless. Anyway, nice game!
Oct 7 13:13:31 22m 32s Gnorberium ♥ 0 Nice game! I like the idea of having the character move automatically in a Vampire Survivors like (have the player do even less 😄). There's some nice strategy involved with trying to decide between upgrading and cloning. Of course there is also healing, but it's unfortunate that I can't see the health of my creatures. Because of that I'm not sure how much health they have left, and whether it's worth upgrading or healing. For what it's worth: I didn't encounter the stuck bug people are talking about.
Oct 7 13:35:00 21m 29s SniffMon ♥ 2 I hope I don't offend when I say that this game feels like a troll game. The Pokémon font, the distorted voice, the overhyped music that doesn't match the gameplay. If it wasn't intentional, then I apologize, but if it is, it's genius. I couldn't help but smile as I played this. On my first playthrough I didn't care for vision, and mostly focused on FOV, but later on I realized vision is important as well. I think memory is the least important, but none of the upgrades feel useless. I like the trick questions, and the fact that you have multiple types of sniffmon to play with. Ignoring all I said about the presentation, the gameplay is definitely fun! Nice job.
Oct 7 13:48:21 13m 21s Fifty Six LilyPads ♥ 1 Cute game! There's more strategy involved than I first expected. What I thought was gonna be an easy win, turned out to be a disasterous loss for me. The music is nice on its own, but does not match the vibe of the game. The frogs look cute.
Oct 7 14:06:05 17m 44s Lil' Guys, Big Adventure ♥ 5 I don't mind the use of AI necessarily, but I'm not a fan when it's obvious like this. Also the mixed styles (the icons at the bottom and upper right) isn't great either. Sometimes ugly MS paint drawings can look more beautiful than a mix of whatever AI generates. Anyway, the game itself is quite boring. I don't really care for the medals, so after 15 creatures have been saved, I'm just there waiting. There's not a whole lot I can do. So yeah, the pacing is a bit too slow for my taste.
Oct 7 16:28:19 2h 22m Prince Charmony ♥ 2 It's 100th Coin, so you know that you're gonna have a good time, and that even if you wouldn't enjoy the gameplay (you will) the comedy is there to entertain you anyway. Really clever puzzle game with some unique mechanics. The concept of placing stuff in a level to solve isn't new, but the combination of mechanics you have defnitely is. Some puzzles really required some creative thinking, and had me... puzzled for quite some time. And yes, I have solved some the unintended way. That doesn't make me think worse of the game though, it just makes me think of myself as a genius. The story is funny, so is the music. If I had to point out a critique, it's that the art is sometimes a mismatch. The beautiful background art vs the silly character. But it's a very minor issue. Overall, great game as always!
Oct 7 17:47:00 1h 18m World's Tiniest Desktop Pets ♥ 3 Oh no! pikachu2.png I feel like my computer could explode at any moment, but besides the many creatures there was no lag at all. It was funny to see them eat the images, and how fast that went as I got more and more pets. A bit more interaction would've been nice, but for a jam game this is already really cool!
Oct 7 17:59:13 12m 13s Human Explained ♥ 0 Simulators, though not necessarily fun to play, can definitely be fun to look at. Though I think this one is a bit too chaotic to see what exactly is going on. There's also not much to look forward to, other than to see more pixels appear. But there are no surprises. I also have trouble using the controls you described, because when I try to do so I am typing instead.
Oct 7 18:14:00 14m 47s 2048/Suika Tiny Creatures Version ♥ 4 I don't mind the use AI necessarily, but when it's obvious like this it's jarring, and it doesn't help that the images are stretched out. A Suika clone isn't very creative. The initial balls are also way too small. I shouldn't be able to click on one side a thousand times and that it will all work out.
Oct 7 18:30:44 16m 44s Soot & Stinker ♥ 1 Really cute! I'm not sure why a soot would be blocked by chalked walls, but I like the aesthetics of it. The game is a bit too easy for my taste, though it gets a bit more challenging at the end. I feel like the game could be improved by having a soot-like enemy roaming around, but I understand the time limit making that difficult. Overall a really cute game!
Oct 7 21:09:27 2h 38m Slimeow Game ♥ 2 It's unfortunate that the pacing is so slow, because it does look really cute. I feel like with these types of games you can't have the player wait for longer than 20 seconds, especially in the beginning. The graphics are simple, but they work really well with the CRT filter.
Oct 7 21:59:02 49m 35s walking pet ♥ 1 What a cute game! A bit short, but that in itself is also adorable. PS: I believe I have used that same cat sound in a game of mine haha!
Oct 8 00:20:18 2h 21m Macro & Micro ♥ 2 It's definitely not polished, but I'll try to look past that. It's quite simple, but it looks cute. I think the animations of the bird are really nice. The pencil-lines work really well! It's unfortunate that you have time constraints, because there is an interesting game to be made here with multiple type of tiles, and maybe even as the player geting to decide what tile to use and in what order. Good job regardless! PS: There is a bug when you press enter multiple times.
Oct 8 00:49:39 29m 21s G'nope ♥ 2 Hahaha, I love Dungeon Soup so I really enjoyed this game. The voice lines were funny, not for what they said, but for the fact that I imagined you awkwardly recording them haha! I'm not sure if I've seen a fan game before as an LD entry. Definitely not for a YouTube animation series. Anyway, good job!
Oct 8 00:57:40 8m 01s Leapo Froggo ♥ 1 Fun little game. No idea how someone managed to get 200k points though. It would have been nice if there was a restart button, for when you know you're gonna get a bad score and want to finish it early. Sometimes I feel like my click doesn't register, and I'm not sure why. Would've been nice if there was a bit more feedback as to why the click failed. The aren't isn't great, but I like how the frog looks. Good job!
Oct 8 01:25:11 27m 31s Gobbo Freakout ♥ 2 It's a nice idea, but I got stuck in the third level (I think). I try to walk away from the gobbos after I attack them, but then either they chase me, or I'm being attacked by another gobbo. I can't find the strategy to make it work. The graphics aren't the greatest, but I like the character design of the gnome. I find it also impressive that you made the AI of the gobbos aiming at the player. Good job!
Oct 8 02:00:43 35m 32s Jar Life ♥ 1 zep.png Great game, zep! I will have to admit that I got frustrated at times, but I guess that's also the nature of the game, that these creatures you need to save get on your nerves :') It also doesn't help that I didn't read the description, and didn't realize that I could hold X to have the creatures walk towards you. I like that you added puzzles where you need to save the bottle for later. The art is cute, the sounds effects work well, and I like the tune at the end of the game. Great job!
Oct 9 17:40:24 39h 39m SOKOBEETLES ♥ 1 What a fun variant on the sokoban genre! I feel like there's a lot of potential here for even more complex puzzles. Trying to figure out where to place the single-use arrows is a lot of fun, and I was stumped on level 7 for a while. I did a few attempt for level 8, but my brain is starting to hurt. Anyway, nice implementation of the theme, and the graphics, though simple, work well! Great job!
Oct 9 21:13:38 3h 33m Make Your Board & Climb In It ♥ 1 Man this is tough! I'm surprised I see no one else talking about the difficulty, so maybe I'm just bad. Though between writing this and playing I'm starting to get better. Eventually I figured out a strategy of stacking the safe blocks while putting the dangerous blocks to the side. Especially the sawblade or whatever it is falling down, you don't want that at the top. My only complaint is that movement sometimes feels awkward, because you need to dash bigger gaps, and it's not always clear when you have to dash and when not. I would've preferred it if it automatically dashed. I like the aesthetic, and the old school style of going game over. Good sound as well. Great game Hacksaw!
Oct 10 12:38:16 15h 24m Reverse ♥ 3 I'm not sure if it's possible to beat this game. At the end there is no collision to stand on.
Oct 10 14:26:04 1h 47m Mission: Runaway ♥ 3 I'm absolutely stumped on the level with the 2 sigarets and the 6 and 5. I feel like I have tried every single possible route, and with no success. Anyway, it's a nice variant on the sokoban genre, and the horn mechanic is clever. It's unfortunate you used this common Kevin MacLeod music. There's plenty of music to use on websites like Newgrounds (double check the license) that will not only sound new, but will also fit better with the theme of your game. The sound effect when moving is very low quality. This is *the* sound of your game, so it should have extra priority in that it sounds good. In your sprites you have animations that they move up and down, but instead of doing that in your animation, you could also have done it programmatically. That way the movement would be smooth, and your game overall would look more clean, I think. Nice game!
Oct 15 02:33:52 108h 07m Burning Bells - Lilleborg 1259 ♥ 1 It's always amazing to see what you guys can achieve! And it's great to see that even with a smaller team you managed to make something amazing. Though I would have loved more depth in the gameplay than a simple hack & slash, it's nice that you managed to create multiple enemies with different mechanics. And of course the story you guys come up with. I'll be honest and say that like with BlÃ¥kulla it's too vague for me to fully understand, but I get the gist of it and can appreciate it. That ending screen was beautiful. Do I even need to state that the graphics and audio look amazing when I comment on you guys' games? Awesome job like always!
Oct 15 14:55:00 12h 21m Petri Plate Potpourri ♥ 1 Lovely game! It seems easy at first, but with multiple type of creatures and impostors you really need to be careful examining the situation. Awesome as always that you made a NES game. I took out my NES emulator for this one. Making a NES game alone does not automatically give it the classic NES vibe, but I think you nailed it with the graphics and music. Great job!
